Just got the calls - three in a row.  First 2 from "Dallas Caller" and third from "Dave"

I have no unpaid debts and an 850 credit score.  These clowns are off shore phone thugs.  They have no capacity to follow up on any threat and are beyond US jurisdiction so you can call whomever you want but they won't go away.

Write your Senators in DC and ask that the US bind foreign countries to crack down on these operations in our "free trade" treaties.  If enough Senators hear these kinds of complaints (they keep databases on issues) then something may happen someday.  Otherwise nothing you can do but block and ignore.  Or pick up the phone and tease them / take up their time (ask questions like "what is a debt?" or "who are these police people you are talking about?")

Same as everyone else. We are warned by these idiots that an unlikely future is in front of us. A complete joke that we can't locate them and do something about it.

It is a scam - I got the same thing.  Called the police and they said to contact IC3.Gov - but that is for internet fraud, not phone.  They said call your phone company.  Good luck and give no information to these disgusting animals.

I have been receiving calls they claim to be an attorney, then hang up when I ask for their address for my attorney.  They claim that I took a $5000 payday loan and I will be arrested.  They are harassing and then hang up.  They need to be stopped.

I just received a call from them stating they are having me arrested tomorrow due to a payday loan that was never repaid.  I have nothing of the sort.  I also asked for information which they refused to give me.  I told them I would pay they transferred me to restitution team member Troy Modern when I asked for the amount or date of loan he hung up on me.  He wanted to verify my employer and address I would not.  I believe this was a scam but I will report back if I actually get arrested.  Claimed to be DavenPort lawfirm so I googled them and called their number to verify they said only one guy worked there and they didn't know what I was talking about.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Not the first time this week I've recieved calls from a number like this!  It's so disgustingly repulsive to be a victim of this nonsense! Please do something before I do! I'd rather use my time tracking these idiots down and causing them the same frustration as they are causing me when calling me with this bull while I'm spending the little precious time I have w my family!
