Probably. If you have ever conducted business online, your personal identifying information may have been hacked and sold to these criminals on the internet black market.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

I received a call from this number and a man calling himself Anthony Chase threatening to have me arrested from not repaying a payday loan. They called me at work and on my cell.  Unfortunately I sent them part of the money they said I owed by Vanilla Moneypak.  I have since done some research and found out that this guy is a scam.  I have responded to other people complaints about being contacted by this person and another person with an accent stating that I have to call them immediately and or have my attorney call. Fortunately (or unfortunately in another way) I lost or misplaced my cell phone. So they can call until they are blue in the face. But I am worried about identity theft. Did these people steal my identity?

I have been contacted by this Anthony Chase.  I have gotten payday loans before from trusting companies and never had this type of trouble. Anthony Chase is a scam and unfortunately I sent part of the money they said I owed.  I plan on contacting the Attorney General and report these guys and see if I can get the money I sent back.

I also received a call from this number and the person called himself Anthony Chase. This person along with another person with an Indian accent threatened to have me arrested and taken to court for not repaying a payday loan. They both said they represent Cash Advance USA. They called me at work and on my cell phone. What can be done to get these people shut down and put in jail?

Yes, me too, this guy Michael Reed as well, called my office this morning about 5 times,  talking about how I took out a loan and with all the fees is now 600 I owe tem or else I will be getting aressted today.  Calling me names, I mean really, a proffesional lawyer would never curse or call anyone names. Finally , I told this guy michael that my sister works for the state attorneys office nd when i asked for all the information of  where they are located and where do we go to court to fight this, he hung up on me.. plus I am very good friends with the sargent of the newark police department and two of the head police officers. I really hope these immagrints that don't even know proper english get what they desrve.....ughhh.....

I just got a call from David Fisher, when I tried to call back, I only got an answering machine.  They called my home about 2 yrs ago and since I changed my number they stopped now they are starting up again. When I called back just now I got Mr, Chace voice mail.  These guys are a scam and a pain in the neck

This 469 number can be confirmed as a scam in a couple of other ways. Ask them for an address - they'll give 133 N. Riverfront, Dallas, TX. That's the Dallas County Courthouse where the Dallas County District Attorney is housed. And who is the Dallas County District Attorney? Craig WATKINS. I'd call Dallas County DA's office and let them know. By the way, the DA's office phone is 214, not 469.

He is a reall a**le! Threatened to have me arrested. He knew my ss# I reported to flag credit bureau for 90 days, also reported to attorney general office. Thick accent says he is attorney Matt Thompson- no way he had a thick Indian accent!

We have had three people call our company Watkins & Associates Executive Search Consultants here in Houston in the last month. Someone is trying to scam, intimidate and threaten people while using our company name. When the person that they have called look up Watkins & Associates it lists our website.  When they look up the phone number of the person who calls it comes it up a Law Firm in Dallas, TX. We want everyone to know we have nothing to do with this and who ever is doing this should be prosecuted to the fullest.

I have these same peolple calling me and my husbands phone number. This man stated his name was Daniel Stuart from the Watkins Law Firm, but his voice sure had an awful accent! LOL! I told this idiot to stop calling our phones and that I reported them to the authorities. Don't send these b*****ds s***! I hope that someone scams someone in their Family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a phone call yesterday, I spoke to Anthony Chase..he said the same to me telling me i owe some pay day loan company 750 dollars. I took loans before but i know i paid them all...Anthony was very nasty, he asked me if he can read something to me and when he did i interrupted him saying that is not true and told me that i am rude and im insuting him. He gave me 2 choices, to file the complain to me and he will have the police come to my house or work to get me or pay the 750 dollars. When I asked for more info about Anthony he told me that i am insulting him! hello you just asked me to pay you 750 dollars and provided me with little info, you better believe I will get your info!!! anyhow, he gave me some information and told me he will call me in 2 days to pay the 750. Luckily i found this website.. I was really ready to pay this guy what he said i owe which i dont recall. but because i am very scared since i am a signle mom with a baby i dont want no trouble in my name.. I really wish these guys will stop..they call me everyday and at work:( Please someone have these stupid people taste their on meds...

Yea I just recieved the same phone call from one Anthony Chase. It had me going until I researched the number and its all over the internet as scammers. He tells me that I could go to jail and be fired. How did everyone get it to stop the calls and all. I am in the service and dont want them contuine to harrass my supervisors with this nonsense.

Yeah I got this call too from a David Fisher. Funny I haven't heard from them in 3 years and now their starting their crap again. I called Homeland Security and they knew right away who I was talking about. Don't bother with them, it's all a scam.

This jerk keeps calling me as well. Yes I have taken a cash advance, but am in good standing on payments.  I never got a call bout any of this.  And he refuses to prove what the debt is or who i actually owe.  Any Suggestions  he has threatened me with calling employer and getting me fired, Coming to my home and getting me arrested.

first time this guy called me was back in March 2013 and had said he was calling on behalf of Watkins and Associates and that he had a lawsuit against me.  i too did research and found that the business name was a research firm and a real estate agency.  He mentioned Cash Advance USA and i was lucky enough to find out on whocallsme.com that more people got that phone call too.

Do not engage!  Eventually, they''' tire of being unsuccessful and, unfortunately, target someone else!  If your husband is afraid this will hurt his job, he can always speak with his supervisor or payroll officer to let him know he is receiveing these calls and it is a scam!  Kind of beat them to the punch, so to speak!

This number called me and threatened to send me "behind the bars" if I didn't pay them the 556.80$ loan that I never borrowed.

Sir!  do not even worry about that it is a scam i recieve the same call from that man, i call and left him a message I said the next voice you will be hearing is from my Lawyer. i never heard anything from him again

My co-worker recieved a call from someone with Watkins & Associates and stated on his voicemail that  a lawsuit had been filed against me for Fraud due to not repaying a payday loan, which I do not have.  We go through background investigations at work and I know 100% percent positively that I do not owe money to a payday loan nor do I have a law suit filed against me.  This is definitely a scam and recommend everyone who receives this call report a complaint against the phone number and/or caller to the FTC, BBB, and Attorney General's office.  It won't stop the call but they'll know we're on to their game.

Second time this person has called.  He said his name is Frank.  He was asking for Manual Gonzalez.  I told him no one by that name has ever owned this phone.  
I asked him to remove my number from his list or elevate to a Supervisor that can.  
He called me a liar.  I hung up on him.

These people have been harassing me as well. Said they were gonna call my place of employment, which is funny cause im my own boss lol. Foreign accent and say they are calling from a law office and will have me prosecuted if I don't pay back a loan, which I've never took out a loan. My husband then grabs the phone cause I'm hysterical. He called me every name except the child of God. My husband and him goes back and forth for awhile, im crying. He's saying imma fraud a felon. It was extremely scary in the beginning, his voice is something off of a foreign scary movie. Which I found out there's apps to make ur voice sound like pretty much anything. Its was more comforting to see it wasn't only me. Im sorry for the harassment everyone is going through as well. Something must be done. He can't and won't getaway with this. Im on it as we speak. No one has ever spoken to me that way. Especially for no apparent reason.

This man called from this number in Dallas Texas  saying I owed money on a loan I never had. Thretened to take me to court. Funny thing is he called my job repeatedly and my coworkersfd him I couldn't take personal calls. He then asked one about her figure and what her sizes were and if she would marry him. He then asked her if she had a black pu**y or a white one. He told anther coworker to s*** his*****. These guys are idiots. Do nt believe them.  No lawyer would act like that

They called me at work trying to get me too fold into their deception.  They even gave an address.  I google the address and it was for the Dallas TX crimal courts.  I called and the names they gave me David Fisher and Anthony Chase are false.  They said they work for Watkins and Associate.  He wanted my attorney to call them,  I tried to give them his number and he would not take it.

I am not even the one who borrowed the money. someone else did and used me as a contact. and now they are calling me.
