Calling for IT guy - asked to be taken off the call list - Guy said "ok"

Do NOT answer calls from this number.  They are a company that collects contact information including email addresses, job titles, responsibilities, projects planned, budgets, phone numbers, etc. and then sells the information to hucksters who will ring your phone off the hook trying to sell you things.  And you will NOT be able to stop the calls because they keep selling your info and after it becomes a problem, you can't trace back to who is doing it.

Called my work phone.  Left no message.  Taking the time to call and bother someone else, but refusing to leave a message on voicemail is a sure sign that it was a waste of EVERYONE'S time.  Must be sad for one's life to be a waste of EVERYONE's time.

This number comes up with the location "Rockwall" - a man with an Indian accent asked for the CEO by name, so I then proceeded to ask him who was calling, he said he was with "McGraw Hill Companies" and when I asked what it was regarding, he said "I'm calling on behalf of Timothy Lokken, I will put the call through to him".  So I'm like, suuuuuure one moment and pretended to check. When I said he wasn't available, he said he would "just try back". Yeah right.

Didn't recognize the number so didn't answer.  This isn't a company phone, either.  I appreciate everyone's responses so when I google the number, I feel better about not answering!

Also. The information he had about me has only been provided to the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). Has anyone else gone NAB and gotten a call from this guy?

Same story. Got a call from some Indian guy and he asked for the owner of my company. He had the right first name but wrong last name. So I told him thats not my name but I'm the only person involved and asked why he was calling. All he would say is that he is "cross checking his info".

Called me on my mobile number. Did not leave a message.

Thanks for this advice.  These guys have called me several times today.  Don't know where they got my number.  When they asked for me i said i would have to see if he is available and sent them into my voicemail.  They didn't leave a message and called back....Crazy

Got the same call others defined.  Did not answer when saw the number appear.  If I have time I look at the number, decide to answer or not.  Let it ring.  We have two numbers, first one is a fax. It rings quite often.  Gives the caller a pleasant tone for a surprise.  They never learn.  One can teach chickens to respond or not.  People are funny.  I love the Off shore calls. Give them some of the American kindness and it makes them get a bit angry.  Having fun at their expense when I am seeking something for entertainment.

No caller ID name.  Did not answer, they left no message.

Common scripted callers, from a thrid workld country. They gather employee names and voice samples of each employee for use later for illicit purposes. NEVER USE THE WORDS "YES or "NO" IN THESE CALLS

Same here! I answered with my company's name, and a man with an Indian accent asked for our CEO. He wouldn't leave a message.

I answered with my company's name and my first name "Tom".
A man with a mild Indian accent spoke my first name, "Thomas?", I said "Yes?" and he promptly hung up. A call back to the number resulted in a fast busy tone.
