call received but will not answer

These idiots keep calling after I've told them to remove me from their calling list and when I repeat my request they hang up on me. It is infuriating.
sco 2009-08-13 20:17:00 Telemarketer
I continue to get these calls. I now answer, hit 9, and keep the guy on the line as long as possible to waste their time. Then at some point I just start saying, "and I hope you meet a lot of friends in prison" or something like that. Boy does it make them mad. I just got called names I have never even heard before. My advice is to just keep messing with them. Also call your state attorney general, the FCC (888-225-5322) and the FTC (877-382-4357). There has to be some way of stopping these idiots, and it may take everyone complaining every time they get a call.

They called, I pushed 9 and then eli answered gave me a long id number, I asked eli to repeat the number and he hung up on me. How rude. I was going to give him all the information he wanted. My credit card numbers, bank numbers, stock information, ss#, mother's maiden name, home address, even my cell phone number. Now because Eli was so rude, he won't get to steal my id.

Same thing, Rachel, press 9 for credit cards. Big scam. Wish I could track these dudes down. They deserve to be arrested...
ART 2009-07-28 18:13:28 Unknown
the number is not 470-000-9876 but 407-000-9876 but still an invalid number
ART 2009-07-28 18:08:26 Unknown
"Rachel" 407-000=9876 recording stating lower credit card rates as usual press 9 to talk w/representative-pressed 9 and line goes dead! Didn't even get the real live person to actuate the air-horn I had read when he/she came on line--I think they are getting "wiser" and maybe will not be calling again! They are annoying--so become annoying back to them --for a small fee at most Wal-Marts you can purchase an air horn not much larger then a can of shaving cream--works wonders on annoying telemarketers and scam artists!

Got a call from 407-000-9876 regarding lowering the interest rate. Blah, Blah, Blah. I am getting so tired of these calls that I do some research on the odd numbers (like this forum). When I find a number that is indeed a fraud, I watch for that number. When I pick up and the recorded message asks to press a number, I do. When I get a real life person, I pick up my portable air can boat horn and let them have it! I know this sounds kinda cruel, but maybe that crook is done calling! (at least with that ear) I believe that people that lead a life of "crime" deserve everything they get (or what I can give to them)!!
Becky 2009-05-28 14:14:42 Unknown
They're still at it ... though I didn't pick up the call because of the "000" in the phone number.

received call from 407-000-9876. typical call with "opportunity" to reduce my interest rate. Just press "9". No, I didn't. We've received multiple calls of this nature and do the same everytime ... hang up. If we want to talk to our credit card company, bank, etc ... WE do the calling from numbers we know are good.

The DO NOT CALL LIST has no impact because they are NOT LEGITIMATE businesses. THEY ARE IDENTITY THIEVES!
I do not know why anyone would think the DO NOT CALL list would stop people whose only goal is to the BREAK THE LAW in the first place.

Keep getting calls from 407-000-9876, usually don't answer cause of the 000 (tipoff not legit?) but finally did cause they are calling 3-4 times a day. Same thing others posted, automated telling me warranty had expired and to press 9 to talk with someone to renew. Pressed 9 and when they asked if I was calling to renew I said no and they hung up! This scares me

keep getting calls from 407-000-9876. same as everyone else. They wanted to lower my interest rate....when I asked some questions, she transfered me (had quite the attitude)and the line went dead. Tried to call back because I was trying to figure out if it was some sort of scam..."no such number". I didn't give them any information but if everyone knows about this, why can't something be done about it?
debbie 2009-05-14 16:34:40 Unknown
recorded message said they wanted to lower my credit card rates...press # 9 to talk to someone....when a person actually got on the phone they didn't want to give me any information...didn't want to take me off any list and basically laughed at me...I received 3 calls in one day.
Beth 2009-05-12 14:40:13 Unknown
Same thing happend to me today. Do these idiots really think I am stupid enough to give them my credit card information over the phone! Why doesn't the Do Not Call registry work for these scam artists?

Tonight (May 11, 2009) at 5:53 I received a call from an automated system stating that they could lower my credit card APR to as low as 6.9%, and to press 9 if I were interested. I pressed 9 just to see what was up.....I was suspicious because the recording had stated that this was my last offer (as though they had contacted me before). A person answered and asked me if I were interested in lowering my APR, I said that I was interested in finding out what company this call was from......they hung up on me. I had already gotten a few phone calls months earlier from a company saying that the extended warranty on my vehicle was about to expire.....same sort of m.o. I have no extended warranty on my vehicle, but played along with them to see what information I could get from them. These people are all scam artists! If they are calling you with an offer, they should already have your information (the car people asked for the make, model, and year of my vehicle......extended warranty my butt)......so do not give them any information! Remember......they called you, you have no idea who they are.....your Mom probably already told you as a kid not to talk to strangers!! I gave the car people bogus info about what sort of vehicle I had, and they did not say, "well according to our records you have a .......".

Received an automated call with a woman's voice speaking, saying it was a follow up to a letter they sent to lower my interest rate on a credit card. It prompted me to dial 9 to speak to a representative. I dialed 9, a male voice answered, immediately requested that I verify my credit card name, number and expiration date. I asked who this was and he hung up.
I did not receive any letter about an interest rate change. I followed up by attempting to call the number, but it came back as an invalid number.

This is one way groups that operate out of swat valley and other such areas fund their war, by credit card fraud. they also use document fraud and identity theft. In other words, these people could be raising money for osama.
NEVER give anyone information over the phone. If they claim they are calling from your financial institution, get their name and call back to the institution (not a number provided by the caller) to verify. Same goes for the Government, in fact the Government most likely won't call but isse a letter.

1-407-000-9876 called, I pressed 9 to talk with a live person. "James" came on. I asked him to please NOT hang up so I could ask some questions. He said "I don't have time for this bull-sh**, so just talk...no bull-sh**"....then the line went dead.

Received a call from 1-470-000-9876 on May 1.2009. Although the greeting on our answering machine was going at the same time as the automated recording, I did decipher it was regarding lowering our interest rate. The call disconnected once the answering machine started to record.

Got a call today and pressed the 9 key as asked to talk. Once a person got on the line they ask if I was calling about an interest reduction. I said yes, then asked the caller what card this was about and they hung up. I tried calling 1-407-000-9876 back and qwest told me the number was not valid as I suspected because of the 000.

Call was to reduce interest rate on a Visa card. They claimed to have sent a letter offering to reduce the interest rate on my account. They requested the 24 hour service of the card, the card number , of last 4 digits of my ss#. Then they ask me to hold while they pulled up the account. The line went dead. I called my card and closed the account immediately. The visa had no knowledge of this promotion. The call came at 12:26 PM on 10/16. The caller ID was 407-000-9876 AC
