Follow-up:  Called Norman T. Faircloth's home and left message on his answering machine.  Then found NTEC's website and called their 800 number (1-800-949-0149).  We were told that Mr. Faircloth passed away a couple of months ago and his wife has nothing to do with the company any longer.  Also learned that it was a huge mistake that the "church" calls went out to all public school faculty and staff in our county and that the intended recipients reside in Mississippi.  This explains why both our cell phones and our home phone rang as our county uses NTEC to quickly notify school employees that school is closed because of inclement weather.  I hope this information helps.

RE: 478-471-8057
This is a 3rd party company that is hired by not only schools, but also HOA's (private management companys- home owner associations) and I believe state and local governments to contact people with important messages on their behalf.  If they have your number its because you either have children in a school that uses them, live in an HOA subdivision and your management company hired them, or for some other reason you are on their contact list for a 3rd party to receive an important message from the person that hired them.  (It could be private parties or state/local government as well).

These are not sales calls or solicitations...they are recorded (usually important) messages aimed at the parties that they are calling.  My mother gets calls from this number whenever they have snow storms in her area because she lives in an HOA and her HOA uses this company to contact its residents to tell them when they will be plowing snow, and when the cars need to be removed from the parking lot (or else they get towed).  It's not only for the school systems in certain areas, but some schools do use them for notification as well.  Just so you know, it's not only for BAD weather issues and school closings....and it is definitely NOT a solicitation call.  I would say pick it up because its probably an important message.  Not only that...the recorded message you hear is actually FROM the person sending it (not the company making the call for them)....so if they are calling you incorrectly, then at least you know who is making the actual call/message and can contact them.  Calling Entex directly at the above number only gives you a recorded message from THEIR company.  Listen to the message next time you get a call from the number, and that will tell you who put you on the calling list....and what type of message/alert you are getting.  If you keep ignoring the calls, they are going to continue to come until you find out who is actually sending them.  You may realize that it is actually a message related to YOU and an important one.

RE: 478-471-8057
This is a 3rd party company that is hired to make phone calls for various school systems, private organizations, state departments, etc...   When there are snow emergencies or any other type of emergency that a person needs to be notified by a particular organization that they are affiliated with, this company calls on their behalf.  My mother lives in a HOA (home owners association sub-division) that is managed by Spinnaker Management Company, and they use this system to notify her and all residents of her HOA when they will be removing snow from the parking lots, so that she can move her car and not get towed.  I know that some school systems use them as well to notify parents of school closings and other emergencies. They are not trying to sell you anything or cold calling you. If they are calling you its because they are trying to notify you of some important information regarding your HOA development, school information or state emergency.  Its not for solicitation, so pick up the call....because its probably an important message regarding you or your children.

Got a call from this number just now. Was an autocall for my mom's condo HOA. My guess based on the other posts is this is some autocaller company that smaller companies pay to broadcast their alerts to customers/members. I would say if you got a call from this number, there's a fair chance it's related to you in some way in the past

I called 1-800-949-0149 and spoke with someone about removing my name. I'm not sure why they don't have a way of taking your phone number off the list they call.  Very annoying.  They should have a message at 478-471-8057 and a way to remove your number from their list.

Apparently this is a service organizations can use to robocall people concerning important events. My condo association just used it to let me know the heat in my building will be out for the next couple of days.

because the company that is calling you, is not the company that is sending you the recorded messages. This number is a private 3rd party company that MAKES phone calls on behalf of schools, HOA's/Management company's, state and local governments.  They are NOT cold calling or trying to sell you anything.  My suggestions to everyone....pick UP THE PHONE!  The only way to find out who put you on this companies calling list is to hear the recorded message that is being sent to you when the phone rings.  The actual message that comes over the phone is FROM the actual person sending it to you....not the company that uses the 478-471-8057 number.  If you listen to the message it will clearly identify who is sending the message...and then you CONTACT THEM to have your number removed if you are not supposed to be getting the message that is being sent to you.

How do I know this?....because my mother lives in an HOA subdivision in New York (Home owners association....management company)....and her management company Spinnaker Mgmt uses this company (Entex) to make all of their announcements and emergency messages to the residents that live in an HOA managed by Spinnaker.  For example....when they have snow storms and the plow company will be coming through her development....they use this system to call all of the residents to let them know when the plows will be threw each parking lot so that residents can move the cars and not get towed.  They also use it for any water restrictions announcements, if they are doing any extensive contruction work in the development that will cause issues or concerns for residents, etc...  its not only for snow emergencies...this particular HOA uses it for all important announcements for its residents.

I do know that schools, county and local governments use them as well...but for what type of messages I dont know....you really should pick the call up because it might be an important message that really DOES pertain to you or your kids.  Its not a sales call...and like I said, if it doesnt pertain to you...then you can find out who is making the call and get a hold of them to have your number removed from the calling system at Entex (478-471-8057)

You can call your cell phone provider and they can block this number from ever calling you again.  We use Verizon and this was a free service that a very helpful customer service representative did for me.  However, to block receiving numbers from a land line you must pay a monthly fee.  I also found an earlier post that named this offender as Norman T. Faircloth, 3397 Osborne Pl, Macon, GA  31204-1901and phone number (478) 477-6276.  It seems that by FCC regulations he is required by law to have some way to unsubscribe from his calling list.  I am having my husband call this man tonight.  I'll post how it goes later.

Both of our cell phones rang at the same time at 7:25 pm 4/19/10 with a recorded message (same Southern woman's voice) from a United Methodist Church regarding an update on Chelsea Beasley's surgery that supposedly went well. Sensing a scam and concerned that our cell phone number security had been compromised, neither of us listened to the recording to the end.  A few moments after hanging up, our land-based phone line rang from this same number and with the same recorded message.  We know no one in Macon and have never attended a Methodist Church.  Furthermore, we verified last night that our cell phone provider did not release our numbers to the public.  This is quite troubling.  We blocked the number from our cell phones, but not our land-based line as this blocking feature comes with a monthly fee.

I am getting many calls from this number (on my cell phone with limited minutes) for school closing and other school activities. It covers many GA counties. We are a senior citizens with no kids in school and they are using up my minutes. I want to stop calls from this number and when i call them back they  have recorded message saying that they are a service provider for schools.
I have contacted the various school systems in my area but they cannot help. Now i am shutting off my cell phone and only put it on when i wish to use it. But this also mean that if somebody want to contact us in an emergency, they cannot.
Can somebody help? Thanks.

We get calls re school closing in our district and they are timely with the info which is good.  They got our numbers (home and cell) from the emergency contact cards that we submit to our schools.  You can probably contact your local school district (assuming you don't want the calls) and ask that they submit the change to the company they use to make the calls.  They must do adds and changes regularly.

Just called the guy, Norman Faircloth, at home.  I think his wife answered and reluctantly handed the phone to him.  He was polite, I asked him to remove my number.  He took it down and told me he needed to find what school listing had it and he would notify them to remove it.  I hope this worked.
