What can be done?
The harassment continues until federal legislation acts.
maybe we should welcome Gov't intrusion for this junk.

I too have received calls from this number. I called Mike Albers at the number listed above (Thanks for the tip Brandon - 14 Mar 2008). Nice guy, but he no longer works for American Pacesetters. He recommends that you email your remove number request to their IT guy, tdavis@americanpacesetters.com.

This person(s) has called me at my work phone number about 15 times in the last week, never leaving a message. I googled the number - seems it may be a telemarketing firm trying to sell magazines or something? I DON'T WANT THEM TO CALL ME ANYMORE!!! I suspect they got my office phone number from somewhere I might have ordered products for work, and used my office phone number. Great.

My Inlaws just got a phone call from this company looking for me. I don't know what they're using to get prior information, but I've never lived with them, just in the same city. I wish I knew what software they're using to 'make this connection' but they bombed on it. Only 1 call so far.

I got a call from this number this afternoon. The person who was calling was indeed calling to update my free magazine subscription, but they were very very polite. She was actually one of the most courteous people I have spoken too in regards to customer service. Thanks American Pacesetters, you made my day!

Called me at 10:26 am on Monday October 20th - went to voice-mail -- here lots of noise in background as if in a club or mall.

We just received a call from 480-248-1579, my husband answered the phone and the woman calling asked for someone who has never lived here. The woman said "that since that person is no longer with you where should she direct the publication?". My husband replied "Well it doesn't matter to me, take it home with you if you want". She cracked up laughing, so did we, as my husband hung up the phone. Definitely a scam to get you to receive "free" publications that aren't really free.
Yes, we love Sarah Palin...

Obviously a trade rag sales call. They call and ask for non-existent persons repeatedly. A huge time-waster.

I received a voicemail from this telephone that simply said "You're an F-ING IDIOT. (but used the real F word). I called Mike not realizing he wasn't there any more and he was very nice. I have since e-mail the new Bus. Dev. Manager and told her what had happened. I have not received a reply.

This number links back to a company called American Pacesetters. Apparently they are contracted with various "free" magazines, so that when your subscription runs out, they call you to get you to renew. Mine comes from a magazine called "Sound and Video Contractors," which was free for one year.
If you call (402) 490-1556, you will reach Mike Albers, Director of Business Development at American Pacesetters. He is actually very friendly, and extremely polite, and I was able to get him to put a halt on all my calls. When I explained to him that I had been getting multiple calls a day, he was very apologetic. I would recommend calling him, but if you do, please be polite - he's not the one calling you and hanging up on you.
