Sales call. I'm never "me" when I get a call from a number i don't recognize, but I did tell them I was the person in charge of the account. I asked if there was a problem with one of my accounts, but instead of saying it was a courtesy call or sales call and leaving a number, the salesman just said "I can't give out that information." Can't or won't? :) Nice try.

Thanks for the info everyone, very helpful, I bought a domain through Godaddy. But why the hell wouldn't they just leave a message "Hi this is so and so with Godaddy"? Now at least I can add them to my contacts.

Received a call from 480-505-8859. They said they were "GoDaddy". They told me one of my .CO and .co.uk domains were expiring. They asked me for my zip code or email address. This sounded very strange as this has never happened to me. I've had domains with GoDaddy for 10 years now. On the other line, I could hear a lot of people talking in the background, inveritably increasing my suspicion. I told them prove their identity by emailing me from a legit GoDaddy email address. They said, "Okay, what's your email address?" I told them to use the email GoDaddy has on file. All in all, I told them that something sounded wrong and hung up the phone. I immediately called the real GoDaddy support number (480-505-8877) and the customer representative told me that they have no record of anyone calling me. What the heck?

Got a call with this number, and I just rejected the call since it is not on my contact. I have no business with this GoDaddy, why do they call me and left a message to update my info? Really annoying with the unwanted calls.

Called us about an "expired" credit card on a renewal, which was not expired at all - the transaction had gone through and appeared on a statement and the site was up and running. What is wrong with these people?

I have been receiving several calls from this number over the past few weeks. Frankly, I don't care if it is GoDaddy or not. It's just plain annoying. Fortunately, the phone number GoDaddy has on file for me is my Google Voice phone number. So, it was very easy to just block the number in my Google Voice settings.  If GoDaddy needs to communicate with me, then they can just send an email. -Bob F.

Why would this idiot company call and ask me for my PIN number like they are doing me some kind of BIG favor?? They wanted to speak to my husband but I told them it was my account and I pay the bill. I have NO CLUE why they even called and this dude is DEMANDING my pin number and to speak to my husband?? HOW RUDE. Then he wanted to know if I wanted to GUESS the pin number and I told him no so he said well "guess I can't help you then."  I NEVER called them, they called me.

Tell them to add you to the: "Do Not Call List".

If I don't know who is calling now I just answer them, they usually want to sell me something! So, I just ask them nicely to "Put me on your Do Not Call & Mail list!" I also inform them that I am keeping track of the calls to insure that they are abiding by the FTC calling rules.  (They, usually apologize for the inconvenience and say something like it will take 10 to 12 days for that to occur and to ignore anything that you receive in the mail.  So, stop avoiding them, just tell them to "put you on the "Do Not Call List".  also, there is a Do Not Call registry that you can add your phone number to that will cut down on those sales calls.

Unfortunately, it doesn't get rid of those calls for people running for government offices. They are the worst at broadcasting to the world that they are running for office.

You may have purchased a Domain Name and now they want to sell you on other GoDaddy products.  They don't leave a message if you don't answer and just hang up which is more annoying. But, they did send an eMail with a 30% discount code good at checkout!  The eMail did have other phone number(s) (480)505-8821 or (480)463-8875.  So, add them to your phone book so you know to answer or just hit the end button.

They just called my cell and had my first name correct but not my last and were borderline harassing me about "the house" I supposedly wanted to buy. Felt like the caller was phishing for more info on me. Very weird if it's GoDaddy. I suspect they are selling customer info which is not cool.

This is bs marketing. Love the threat at the end not to call FTC.

Outbound calls from a company have no excuse to ask for a pin. They called you - never give your pin to someone who calls you.  Initiate the phone call yourself do you know to whom you are speaking.

This is awful.  I do not want to be thanked on the phone and with multiple emails for every little domain purchase. Also read they are texting? I say do report that behavior. We have not opted in to Amy such agreement, the emails are sufficient, thank you.

I did a search on this number today and oh yes it was GoDaddy--I should know.  When they call you it is because the sales department has a mandate from Mr. GoDaddy himself, Bob Parsons ("anyone who buys something from us get's a thank you call").  Now, many people buy the wrong product(s) because they really do not know what they are doing and spend way too much.  They can help you with that, they can cancel products, give you on the spot refunds, they can help you get discounts.

Yes they will suggest things for you to buy--they are experts at getting you started with an online presence. You buy a domain name--okay so you did it to get personalized email or you are going to do a web site.  So you need to buy email (or they will set up free email) or buy space to build the web site.  Do not be the fool that let's their "WEB DEVELOPER" keep the files on their "their server."  They just buy space on GoDaddy or whomever and when you get a little fussy or they loss interest in you; By-By Website.  Yes they get a bonus for how much they sell, and the person that got all squirmy because all the person said was thank you was because she was new and stumbled and didn't know what to say-no conspiracy.

Lastly, the whole thing about accessing your account and asking for a PIN or Zip Code.  They need to confirm they are calling the right person.  A company as big as they are who own over one half of all the server space in the world get thousands of fraudulent calls a day from domestic but mostly foreign (middle eastern) individuals and groups that are trying to steal your information. Google "reverse engineering" and do a little research.  A company that readily gives out your personal information is a company you need to what out for, not one that asks questions when you call back.

Also, don't waist your time complaining about it to the FCC, GoDaddy, or some other Federal Agency.  Just call GoDaddy back and ask the agent to put Do Not Call on your account.  DONE, stop complaining.
