It's a debt collector, people. They are trying to match your address with the number they have, basically connecting the dots. Mine if from an old car that I had voluntarily repossessed 4 years ago...after auction still owed a few thousand. Don't call if you can't pay back your debt!! Otherwise they will know your address and your phone number, and they will never let up. if you don't owe anything, it was the people before you...and they will never believe you, so you are screwed either was.

Best course of action, do nothing. Don't answer your door if they come again, or there is a chance you will be served a summons to court.

Just got one on our door too. Looked out the peep hole and husky Hispanic guy wearing a dark blue shirt with some signage on the left front chest area. Had a clip board. Did not answer it as I didn't know who it was and just had a strange feeling. My bright yellow sign had call Agent Smith at 602-262-9000 with regard to a case number, to response within 24 hours.

§ 807.  False or misleading representations  [15 USC 1692e]
A debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:

(1) The false representation or implication that the debt collector is vouched for, bonded by, or affiliated with the United States or any State, including the use of any badge, uniform, or facsimile thereof.

(2) The false representation of --

(A) the character, amount, or legal status of any debt; or

(B) any services rendered or compensation which may be lawfully received by any debt collector for the collection of a debt.

(3) The false representation or implication that any individual is an attorney or that any communication is from an attorney.

(4) The representation or implication that nonpayment of any debt will result in the arrest or imprisonment of any person or the seizure, garnishment, attachment, or sale of any property or wages of any person unless such action is lawful and the debt collector or creditor intends to take such action.

(5) The threat to take any action that cannot legally be taken or that is not intended to be taken.

(6) The false representation or implication that a sale, referral, or other transfer of any interest in a debt shall cause the consumer to --

(A) lose any claim or defense to payment of the debt; or

(B) become subject to any practice prohibited by this title.

(7) The false representation or implication that the consumer committed any crime or other conduct in order to disgrace the consumer.

(8) Communicating or threatening to communicate to any person credit information which is known or which should be known to be false, including the failure to communicate that a disputed debt is disputed.

(9) The use or distribution of any written communication which simulates or is falsely represented to be a document authorized, issued, or approved by any court, official, or agency of the United States or any State, or which creates a false impression as to its source, authorization, or approval.

(10) The use of any false representation or deceptive means to collect or attempt to collect any debt or to obtain information concerning a consumer.

(11) The failure to disclose in the initial written communication with the consumer and, in addition, if the initial communication with the consumer is oral, in that initial oral communication, that the debt collector is attempting to collect a debt and that any information obtained will be used for that purpose, and the failure to disclose in subsequent communications that the communication is from a debt collector, except that this paragraph shall not apply to a formal pleading made in connection with a legal action.

(12) The false representation or implication that accounts have been turned over to innocent purchasers for value.

(13) The false representation or implication that documents are legal process.

(14) The use of any business, company, or organization name other than the true name of the debt collector's business, company, or organization.

(15) The false representation or implication that documents are not legal process forms or do not require action by the consumer.

(16) The false representation or implication that a debt collector operates or is employed by a consumer reporting agency as defined by section 603(f) of this Act.

I just got the same pink notice and called but no one answers

My gut is they r snoooooping around to see whos home or not....i have a dog that barks..sooooooo hmmmm and alarm notice outside.....im gonna file a report w news maybe they can do a story on it...so people are on notice...

Same here, bright orange/red sticker. I called, they probably have my number, and will probably try to get me to do or buy something. I'm too poor to buy anything, so that won't work. I do know that whoever is doing this is just another idiot in a long line of idiots that aren't smart enough to make money by working for it. YOU, red sticker person, are the best example of a loser in this or any prior century :). By the way, when we get calls we don't know, we don't answer them. Maybe you will run across this page and realize you've become "that guy", and will be marked by this when you are caught. You will be caught, if not by the law or people, my dogs will tear a red spot into your a**.

Same thing here today (7/11/13) got a bright orange sticker posted to the door with "urgent notice please contact agent miller at 602-488-5273 with regards to investigation case (and #)" requesting a response within 24 hours. didn't leave a time on the damn thing, just the date.

What really ticks me off is I'm in Tucson currently . . . 520 area code and they're leaving a 602 responding number. What the hell is that about???

I was home heard no knock no door bell ring nothing just my dog barking go out and there is a notice to call back within 24hrs but its Saturday and the hours listed say mon-fri. wtf is going on with this agent miller?

Just got the bright orange sticker while I was home. No one knocked on my door just the URGENT NOTICE to call agent Miller at 602-488-5273 with the case number...saying required to call within 24hrs.  My husband called and a voicemail came on...don't have time for this sh@&!!!

I received an orange sticker on my door- said URGENT NOTICE and to please contact Agent Miller at 480-217-7866  M-F 9am-6pm.  Even gave an Investigation Case #.  WTF??
I called and the voicemail greeting was a woman's voice calling herself "Miller."  That's it... no first name, just Miller.  Weird.  Didn't leave a msg bc I think it's shady.  We'll see if they call or come back.

This is definitely a scam.  Beware.  This type of scam aims go collect phone numbers of people who return the calls.   Be smart!

Same agent, new number Miller 480-228-8511 with a case number. No company name. very threatening in tone. I don't want to call back because then he will have my number.

I received a sticker too but the phone number now says that it is an invalid number.  I have no idea I have paid all my bills etc?

OMG! I just got one too , Bright Orange Notice...I keep calling and no answer and says the voicemail is full. Wtf? Lol

They leave notices like they are of dire importance and then they never respond to you. Possible scam or terrible marketing ploy.
