Political recorded message by some sleezbag politician that do not want to show their own phone number.

No message.  Must be a spoofed number because Information never calls you.

I get a call every evening from that number, 480-5551212. Sometimes I answer and they hang up.  When i don't answer they don't leave a message
I always thought it was directory assistance for that area code.

555-1212 is the phone number for information so someone has figured out how to fake out caller ID

i am wondering if this is also someone using a spoofing system to make it look like 411 is calling, based on some of the comments entered on this thread

3 calls so far today, hangs up when you answer, or disconnects after 3rd ring.

I have received 5 calls from this number over the last 4-5 days-480-555-1212 which is the long distance directory number.  It usually rings three times and then stops.

was called and they asked me about credit history ,when I questioned them they hung up

Registering your number with the Do Not Call listings does nothing!!!! I have been getting harrassment calls even more since I added my landline and my two cells with it. I have filed complains with the do not call list, oregon atterney generals office, FTC, and FBI. All have been able to do nothing about it!!! Americans are so screwed in protection. I want to press charges to all the companies that think they have a right to bother me even after I ask and tell them to please leave me alone and remove my info and to not share, sell, loan, or anything else with my personal information. On even hacked my bank accounts and caused fraud that I am still having trouble trying to clear up!!!! First they called my cell and now my landline and I know they are on the line so I state to leave me alone and remove my info and then hang up on them!!! They do record when they do that call you, you pick up and they say nothing!!

When I called the number back it just said what city and state please? What 411?

Received calls from (480)555-1212 twice at 926 and 946 est 1/20/2012. Calls lasted 5 seconds, no one on other line spoke. Earlier this same day received call saying "you won a fabulous vacation...." from (773)449-5067.

I have been receiving calls form this number too.  I got so mad I filed a complaint with the FTC at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en .  A few weeks later AT&T called me inquiring about my complaint, which was not lodged with them, apologized and of course said they have no knowledge of the issue.  That was about 3 months ago.  I just received my another call from 4805551212 again today.

Why are you calling me and not saying anything. Stop calling

If you call this number back it takes you to directory assistance and charges your cell phone $1.99.  They are scammers from Arizona.
Call your cell phone company and let them know.  They will also block the number for you.
These losers have too much time on their hands!

Says, "Someone you know or a friend entered you unto one of our kioske"... (blah, blah, blah) vacation... press 1 if you are interested, press 3 if you  are not interested. Pressed 3 & nothing... just a dead line...
This is a BS spoofed # as the caller ID says "DIR ASST AZ"... when is the last time directory assistance from another state called you about "winning a vacation", then tells you it will only cost you $99 per person? Yeah right!

Anyhow, is total BS, a rip off likely & can't even say sorry for calling or who they are, which is illegal.

480-555-1212 Calls me often, once even twice in a day. When I answer it disconnects immediately. When I don't answer, there is no message. Never on weekend days, but not every weekday either.

I get calls from there too. Disconnected when I answered. Don't answer and don't call back. Its probably a phishing company looking for real live numbers. When you answer or call back, your number gets logged as "live". They would then make a list to sell to other companies.

Yup, I just started to get calls from them. I answered, and it disconnects. So far two days in a row.

The number belongs to 411.

Immediate hangup when answered.  Probably computer dialed call to test for live bait.
The number is located in Scottsdale, AZ.  Company name is Worldwide Investment Corporation.  The names at that location are: Larry M Foster, Thomas C Craig, Jane Doe (sound suspicious to you too?), Jason Rivers, and S A Stone (Technical Advisor).  Looks like KC, MO is onto something - could be adding to their mailing list or worse..

4/8/11 got called by 480-555-1212 and there was nobody there for me either surly the law can do something about this

Nope nobody can do anything. All you can do is change your number since blocking does no good as they use a new spoofed number next time.  I have AT&T and they don't care at all...offered to change my number for a fee. So I will switch carriers and get a new number all at once.

First time call from 480-555-1212 on 4/11/11 at 2:24pm. Caller ID says Arizona.
Did not answer, and no message left.
