This number is an outgoing trunk for a company named Teletech.

http://www.teletech.com/

Teletech is a call center outsourcer retained by by many corporations to take inbound calls from customers and place outbound calls to customers or potential customers.  Teletech's clients include all of the companies listed on this thread.

Teletech employees will typically brand themselves as being from Teletech's client (Xerox, ATT, IBM, Polaroid, etc.)

This number called my wife cell phone asking to talk with her "about her credit card payment".  I pointed out that my wife has only two credit cards, and both have no balance.  She immediately hung up the phone.  I called the number back from a different number and got no answer.  Although I have no proof, I believe this is a scammer that hung up when I called her bluff.  I will never give out my personal information to anyone who has called me on the phone, or any e-mails I get.  Even if I know the other party, I will not use the link provided, I will go diretly to their home page via a web search.  I do not trust link provided by strangers.

From all the messages people have left, it tells me this is a call center, representing multiple clients, including IBM's Lenovo division, Toshiba customer care, Polaroid, AT&T, and Xerox. Probably others too. Good reason not to answer. Outsourced call centers are well known for having poorly informed customer service reps. I should know, I have friends who work at call centers and they're always complaining about how they lack the information necessary to give their customers the service level they need. It's these monster companies who are at fault. Everything runs by committee and nothing gets done.

I ordered a laptop through toshibadirect.com.  However, it appears they perform some type of credit card verification.  They left me a message telling me to contact my credit card company to verify the transaction, and it gave me an 800 number to call after doing so.  I called the number on the back of my credit card, and they asked me to verify the charge.  After doing so, I called the 800 number left in the message.  After verifying my name and the shipping address, they said the order was released to process.

I have received six calls from this number(480-889-1199), and 5 of them ended up as v-mail messages containing 45 seconds of Muzak...not a single spoken word in the message.  I happened to be at my desk when the the sixth call arrived: a woman asking if I were the decision maker for IBM equipment.  When I said no, she put me on hold so I could enjoy the same muzak that has been clogging up my v-mail inbox. I hung up after 10 seconds or so.

I got a call from this number, a guy following up on a quote I requested.  The guy knew quite a bit about the product, more than I was able to get when I called Lenovo tech support.

This is actually a very high end sales support center of account managers representing major manufactures.  The sales reps are considered professionals in their field and interact with small/medium business, public sector, and large enterprise customers.  This is a premium sales organization and not strictly a customer service organization.

It is a call from a company called Direct Alliance Corporation.  This company, refered to as "DAC" provides call centers to different large companies.  At present, the call could be comming from IBM, Lenovo, Polaroid, Sony, Toshiba, or several other smaller companies.

Before sending any e-mail to opt out from calls, consider that you're providing the spammer with another means to contact you.  The "delivery failure notice" is just a scam - the e-mail addresses are harvested and sold.  Something to consider.

it's weird, I recently filed a non-delivery claim with Toshiba so I thought they would be calling me about it. I called back and they mention how to opt out of their calls.

They probably put me on some multi-company marketing list.

I get one of these calls at least once a day. I have never been able to actually talk to someone though.   When I call the number on my caller ID I get the same message to email to be removed from the calling list.  When I emailed to the given address I got a "delivery failed" message from my e-mail provider.  I am not sure what to do to stop the calls.  Any suggestions?
