Not a scam - they are for real and they DO pay. I have participated in a two day panel with them and was paid $150.00. Companies hire them to source out consumer opinions so they can make product improvements, etc. Shame on you... Check your facts before you post!!!

"dont answer the phone if you see their caller id if you dont want to share your opinions, or DEMAND them to take them off you "list"  (by the way they get their lists from companys YOU DO BUSINESS with. Could be anycompany that you do business with, if you dont want the calls BLOCK THE NUMBER."

literally none of this is true. you're confused about this company versus what a telemarketer or collection agency does. they are not even remotely the same.

i think them telling you the study was cancelled was their way of bouncing you, honestly. i've done 8 or so studies with these guys over the past 3 or 4 years and have always been paid for my time. always between $100-300. they've never called me to solicit me for a study or get my information to sell elsewhere...i've only ever been called when i purposely went to their website and applied for their panels. more often than not, i'm not called back at all, because i didn't qualify.

i do know that they flag people who try to attend too many studies. frankly, trying to live off of the money from studies isn't a real job. it's extra cash and nothing more. people who try to be "career panelists" are more likely to fake demographic information and opinions to try to get into more studies for easy money, which, obviously, they want to avoid. second, being in a lot of studies skews a person's ability to be objective, resulting in insincere and unrealistic responses, which they obviously want to avoid as well. and third, generally the demographics they are looking for are extremely specific (62 year old asian female with diabetes; 35 year old white male smoker and business owner; 19 year old mother who does taxes at home; etc) so the odds that you qualify for every single one of their studies are slim to none.

no i don't work for them. i'm just a person who a) knows it's legit because i've been to several of their offices for a multitude of study subjects, and b) am applying common sense based on what i've seen of group participation.

Not a scam - I've done several surveys for them, and been paid on time and treated well by every single person I've come in contact with.

This company discriminates not just with "who" they qualify for a study, if you carry a backpack or have missing teeth, they wont invite you!  OF course on the phone you cant tell much, but if you sound old or uneducated dont worry they wont invite you.  And as far as "getting paid for your opinions?; Their projects get cancelled EVEN IF you do qualify.  That is because they recruit unqualified people and then the client cancels the project.  This company does exist and chances are with the way their COO runs the company they will be out of business by the year 2014.

Survey
This company is not a scam. Yes, they are a market research company. Yes, they will call you with surveys, but they've only ever called me when I applied to one of their studies. Ask the people in your household whether or not they've signed up for one of these groups.

They run focus groups that pay actual money. This is what market research companies DO.

Do your own research before you commit libel

Hey I work there, totally not a scam. I for one, would never work at a place that was not legit or if they were trying to scam people. It totally IS paid research and some unpaid surveys, they paid research is if you are qualified for whatever the needs of our client might be. Sometimes we get very specific groups of people our clients want opinions from.
You seriously need to do your homework before you make such serious and false accusations.

@smith

It is called Consumer Opinion Services, this is NOT a scam. Did you go on their website? did you get the physical address and go there in person?  They do exist.
they do pay for research studies, are you upset because you didn't qualify for the
study? Don't worry, I am sure they will have more for you in the future.  It is a real
company and from what it says on the website, they have been in business since
1960.  Do your own research before you make false accusations.

Political Call
Scam!! -Caller from this number left message to call them on 888-698-7616. They call themselves Consumer Opinion Survey. They asked me alot of personal info questions, DOB, full name, address, martial status, employment status, etc. Said if I qualify I would be paid for my opinions. This is a SCAM! They even have a website set up, but do not exist! If you call the 888 number they will transfer you to a woman named Michelle (older woman) who does the questionarre. She does a good job making it sound authentic. Beware!
