also disabled, a cancer patient. i just waited 10 min to get to the "cruise" pitch because i wanted to get the name of the polling company. agent says "political opinions of america.org so i look them up and they have a minimal banal webpage that gives NO NAMES of who pays for these so called cruises. btw there is NO SUCH THING as the cruise, which the "travel agent" says you have 18mo to use, because they want to collect $59.99 per PERSON for port fees to leave and re-enter the country! so i just told the guy look i know you're not giving away cruises and i'm NOT giving away money, so we'll leave it there. the survey questions were BS, questions like "what is your main interest in the election" press 1 for rising gas prices, press 2 for middle east press 3 for economy DISASTER press 4 for health care reform. i pressed 4 but my MAIN problem with this election is the country being lied to by mittens romney the corporate raider who takes your job away like a thief in the night so shareholders can make another quarter of a point of interest. obama might not be the "god" he was proclaimed to be, he's just a man who was handed a rotten hand by his predecessor. i'm tired of hearing he's a food stamp president, I DEPEND ON FOOD STAMPS TO EAT. so i guess i'm for the "food stamp guy". this cruise thing is an OUTRAGE, tmobile sold our cell numbers and like you said, i was also on the do not call list. we have no control over who calls us anymore, citizens united made corporations into "people" so why can't we hold them accountable???

A few things to remember:

1) The best scenario is to answer the phone, and set it down on the table.  Don't waste a second of your time listening or trying to hit some number to be removed.  Just let the message roll.  Trust me, they won't listen to your request to stop calling, but if we ALL burn up their phone line minutes by letting their message run full-course, they will feel it, as it quickly ties up their lines to make more calls.

2) If it is a live person, be extremely polite and tell them that you would "love to help them, but just cannot at this time" and offer to call them back... Now at this point you are in control of the conversation, and can begin to ask them questions that they normally wouldn't answer, like what company they are with, where are they based, etc.  I have used this technique and actually been told real names of others in their organization which can be included in a report to donotcall.gov.

3) When I'm in a feisty mood, one of my personal favorites is simply to act like I'm half deaf and cannot hear them. After about a minute of "Huh?... What? ... Who again?" and phrases like that, they are more likely to hang up and actually delete your number.

Finally, if they know you are irritated by the calls, they WILL continue to call, so the real key is either make it so that you smother them with kindness to get them to drop their guard and divulge information, (which you can use ina report to the FTC), or to make it so inconvenient for them to call your number that they will remove it.

ACCORDING TO THE LAWYER REPRESENTING POLITICALOPINIONSOFAMERICA.COM:

(Time to start calling your senator and any government official that will listen)

PoliticalOpinionsofAmerica.org does not engage in any activity that falls under Federal telemarketing/telephone statutes (i.e., the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Federal Trade Commission?s Telemarketing Sales Rule).  PoliticalOpinionsOfAmerica.org delivers political opinion and survey calls, and these are exempted under these federal statutes/regulations.  In addition, PoliticalOpinionsOfAmerica.org does not engage in any activity that falls within the pertinent statutes of the State of Colorado.  Accordingly, any action that you file against my client would be frivolous, and thus subject to a claim by my client for its costs associated with defending against same.

FYI, this is a political polling organization, it is not subject to the restrictions of the Do Not Call registry.
From the National Registry Web Site:

Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?

Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of ?telemarketing.? Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 .

What about telephone surveys?

If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered ? that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry.

I am a 65 yr old bedridden, disabled senior on the do not call list. It causes me significant discomfort to get to and answer the phone and more pain playing their games.
They quickly identify themselves as " http://www.politicalopinionsofamerica.org " but they LIE!
They say a private individual has donated money to give me a free cruise to the Bahamas if I answer their insipid questions. (Q. are, rate Democrats, Republicans and the Pres on a 1-5 scale. that's it! the "SURVEY" IS AN OBVIOUS LIE. Then they make you wait for a person to SELL you a FREE 2 day cruise.
"Carlos" states he is a "licensed, certified, registered travel agent" in Fla.
I ask him who certified you., He says the Fla government.I ask him his license #. He doesn't have one. I ask again who certified him, he says his company. What company? My travel agency, but won't say who. Who certified you. "My company."
I ask him about "survey" and "Political Opinions of America.org, he states he knows nothing, "we have no relationship to them."
He attempts to engage me in a long conversation. I ask him to skip the pitch and get to the free cruise. He wants the name of the person I will take.He wants a credit card #, for the free cruise to reserve it. He tells me how great the food is. I ask him to stop selling me and give me direct information. He says the law requires him to give me "travel information" (his sales pitch about food.) I ask him what law. State law he says. I ask the name of the law & he puts me on hold, then hangs up.
I'm going to,  http://www.fcc.gov/complaints  & to,  https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx, and try and get the Fla./Oregon, BBB to actually accept a complaint. Please do the same! THIS IS AN ILLEGAL SCAM. PLEASE HELP SHUT THEM DOWN, BEFORE THEY CHEAT YOUR GRANDPARENTS!

These clowns are calling using other "503" numbers as well.  All "opinion polls," who try to get info from you or have you give them money.  They're going on my Call Blocking List, which needs to expand from allowing 12 numbers to at least 30, based on how many robodials I get.

I just got the call from the same number.  I immediately went to this website and discovered all your comments about the same number.  That's why I go here FIRST whenever I get a number I don't recognize.  I then record it in my address book with a certain code I give myself to know what kind of caller it is next time.

Got a phone call from an out-of-state number
that I don't "know" or recognize.
I didn't answer, but looked up the number here.
They left no message.

I am on the National Do-Not-Call List,
and have been for over a year now.
(I guess this is our government at work for us.)

I'm going to http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
AND to https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
and see if that can get the government
to work for me, and stop these calls.
(Yes I will go through all those steps.)
We should all pile on.

They have called over 6 times and been reported each and every time, dead silence when you answer, if you don't answer no message. When will they stop this is anyone's guess, political or not it is still robotic dialing cellular phones and should be illegal since you pay for minutes. Maybe they should pay us for recieving the calls ?
