Yeah, he's some clown making the rounds the past couple of months calling people telling them he's with the IRS.  Here are a few YouTube videos on him - he generally calls in the AM - probably when his Mom goes out to get the paper.

Thanks to Jim for the work and the links!   When the above-described scammer called me, he gave the name "Kingston Dulles or Dallas" or something that sounds like that.

I had a couple of messages from this number for my wife.  Called the IRS and was given another number to call for Fraud (number is listed below) where I left a message with the information, but also was able to email the actual message to phishing@irs.gov, and got this response:

Please visit our "Report Phishing" website (http://www.irs.gov/uac/Report-Phishing) and click on "Complaint Assistant". This will allow you to file a complaint with the FTC and identify the complaint as an IRS complaint.

Alternatively you can file a complaint directly with the FTC by visiting http://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov.

Whether you use the IRS link or file the complaint directly with the FTC, add "IRS Hostile Call" in the Comments section of the complaint.

Since this individual is impersonating the IRS you should also report it to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). You can send an email to Complaints@tigta.treas.gov or file an online complaint by completing their "Online Form" located on their website, http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report.shtml.

Individuals who have been victimized by this scam and have provided one or more Green Dot MoneyPak numbers to the scammer should also notify Green Dot directly at 800-473-3636 to report the scam and open an investigation.

called me also I hung up they called me back by that time I was reading this forum . I stated if they would like to continue to call or stay on the line I would like to refer them to the local sheriffs . wow never been hung up on so fast

I received a phone call from this man at 5:30 this morning. I told him that if he was from the IRS that it was illegal for him to be calling me at that time of day. He said he would call back later. He called back just now, and left a message stating that he was from the IRS and that it was important that I call him the second I get the message. He isn't even asking for me, but someone name Donald Ruth. Not returning the call, or answering the phone.

I had the same call on my voice mail this morning and this time his name was Chris Miller. I tried to call back before looking through this posting and got a message 'the call couldn't be completed as dialed'.  I don't think he is doing it just for fun but I don't know how he could get any money from this.  Does anyone have an idea what this scam is about?

I too have been getting the same call from the number, same caller ID with a man with thick Indian accent except he used the name John Smith.  What angers me is he called my house at 6:30 am caused me to trip over things in the dark, stub my toe and wake me up from a nice dream meanwhile I have children sleeping too.  He's an idiot and anyone he fools are idiots too.  Common sense goes a long way.  At least pick an uncommon name and pick a caller ID that maybe looks realistic...I hate when folks waste my time (blogging this and blocking the number).  I would imagine if he gets caught that it is a Federal offense to impersonate the IRS.

regardless of how much you owe the irs they will NOT call you. The only reason they will is on request that is for  example you call them to discuss your account and offer the agent aa call back number in case the call drops out. I know because i had that haappen and the agent called me back. Do not fall for this scam

Received a call from  503-468-6389 On 11-16-2013 I too received at least one call from a man with a heavy accent. He sounds Indian, from India to me? Could not really make out the works of the conversation message he left? But he did say he was from the IRS. So I will call the IRS myself.

This number called from Astoria OR. Said I have an IRS issue.
Calling with the name of" Ron Cooper."  Horse PUCK!
IRS sends a notice and answers the call back number they supply.

We don't answer calls from numbers we don't recognize. This one has popped up a lot,

Came home from work had 3 messages. Love all the posts on this scam. Notifying police to track this clown....probabally not even in the US....but worth a try

I just got a call from this man with a heavy accent insisting that I have a lawsiut fied against me.  Since he had called 8 times in the space of an hour I was dubiious.  Then he said he was with the IRS and I asked what the IRS had to do with a lawsuit filed against me. After several minutes of this go- around he was very angry with me and threatened that I should wait for the law to come to my door then I would be sorry.  He proceeded to hang-up on me.

I too just received a call, and when I hung up the first time, the caller called back and was mad at me for hanging up on him.  I then proceeded to ask who he really was, and he insisted he was with the IRS.  I asked why then was he calling me at my office, he ignored it, and I hung up again on him.  The third time he called, my assistant went crazy on him.  I am hoping he will call back, as that was fun!!!

this is most defiantly not the IRS i contacted the IRS and there is no one in the IRS in any branch attempting to reach my Business. HE is middle eastern and the call is coming from a computer in Washington state not from Oregon. If the IRS was to call you would be getting certified letter before the call ever took place. ******Trust me the IRS Internal Tax will cross their t's and dot their I's and cover every basis needed to legally have prof of any conversations. And you would not get called by some untraceable phone number!!!!!!!!!!!
I just hope this a** gets stopped and fast if one of my employes answers the phone before I can notify everyone of this scam rumors could spread like wild fire about my business and work ethic effecting my workforce!!

Four calls in a span of five minutes according to my caller ID.  No message left, "Astoria, OR" given as name/location.

Got the same call- more than once...sounds like exactly the same call.  Man with heavy accent and can't understand exactly what he is saying, but he is able to clearly state he is calling from IRS and that it is "time sensitive".  Called the number back and just got a long beep...like an answering machine.  What's the deal?

Caller with same heavy south asian accent asking for someone that doesn't live here. Left 4 messages in 4 hours, same message that he was from IRS with time-sensitive information concerning discrepancies in IRS tax return.

Background noise like a call center -- but beware -- that could be faked. Listen to background noise to see if it's the same chatter every time.

Call ID shows Astoria, OR but that can be faked, too.

Then caller left a message on my answering machine, had a very deep assent and said he was from the IRS. Called 6 times in a two hour span.
