Received a call this morning (10:27AM - 2/8/2012). Didn't recognize the number - didn't answer. Sure would be nice to either stop this or find out who is really making the calls and return the favor by constantly calling them, their employer, their family, ...

Just received a call from this phone number and he said he was calling on behalf of "Info Week"???. The man barely understood English. I told him I was on the Do Not Call registry. What is the use of the Do Not Call list? I receive these calls all the time.

I received a call from 508-281-7600 @ 2:53 Pm on 06 Feb 2012. I was not able to answer the phone due to the fact (1) I was asleep and (2) upon rousing I must not hurry since I have balance problems due to a CVA (stroke) suffered in 2004. I cut on my computer and found this web site I am using right now and discovered much of what I know about this spoofed call ID number. I will put this number on my Comcast call ID block and that will be the last I hear from these spammers or whatever they are for good. I also in reading one of your post have a feeling that they were calling for my father but he is not available since he was nifter (died) in 2008 and he did subscribe to some magazines during his lifetime.

Same here. Answered the call and someone on the other end kept saying hello. I just hung up. Will hit my reject button when this call pops up again.

Got a call this morning. All it was was a massive blast of static, as if a CB with the squelch knob turned to max sensitivity was calling me.
Based on the other comments, it might have been a magazine company looking for warm bodies to pad their publishing numbers.

Just got a call from 508-281-7600
She acted like she couldn't hear me, as if we had a bad conection. But I could hear her extremely well and I know there is nothing wrong with my 4 week-old phone.
She said she will hang up and call right back, but has not.
I guess they just confirmed this is a valid number...

Call came in and went to voicemail, no talking message left, just some background noise.
| casue2 2012-02-02 18:14:21 Unknown |
The guy who called from this number just said, "I'm sorry; we're having technical difficulties with this number." He didn't hang up immediately, so I asked point-blank if it was a spam call. He didn't respond. He just hung up after a few seconds.

It is not Access Northeast's problem to fix. It could just as easily be your number that had been hacked. Would you be expecting to fix it yourself or put the emphasis on your provider?
(BTW, I don't know about Greek punctuation, but we tend to follow a question with a question mark, rather than a bunch of exclamation points)

As recipients of vishing calls, we have more power than the company that has fallen victim. Report the calls to your phone carrier (Verizon/AT&T/T-mobile etc) in an effort to have the orgin of the call traced. Provide times the calls were received. The more information the carriers collect from harassed recipients, the stronger the case, and the more likely the violators will be exposed & prosecuted.

508-281-7600 Debbie called and said she wanted to update our subscription to Architechural Lighting Magazine and I told her we didn't have one. She said "Well, it's a free subscription" but they need to verify our address and "two other quick questions" first. (Told them no.) Undaunted, she pressed on, "May I ask why?"

I just reviewed a call log to my home phone and have received 8 calls from this number today. There are no messages left. When will Access Northeast solve this problem!!!!

Vishing:
Typically attackers use a technique called caller ID spoofing to make it look like calls are coming from a legitimate or known phone number. It's a very similar technique to email spoofing, which makes e-mail addresses look like they are coming from a trusted source. But because people typically trust the phone service and caller ID, spoofing phone numbers can be particularly damaging.
Report vishing calls to www.ftc.gov or call (888) 382-1222. The FTC wants the number and name that appeared on the caller ID as well as the time of day and the information talked about or heard in a recorded message. If you think you've been a victim of a vishing attack you can also contact, the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Same here, got this call about an hour ago, I didn't answer, and not going to call it back per the posting above where the company states that their caller id was hijacked. No sense in bothering them by calling the number back, I'm sure they're getting plenty of calls as it is. It's too bad that scammers stoop to new lows so often.

Just got 2 in a row, back to back-same as everyone else. Didn't answer, not going to call back.

three calls this morning from 508-281-7600 starting at 6:45am. Did not answer. Person did not leave vm.

Three calls within two hours to my work number. The company I work for takes a dim view on spam emails and unsolicited telemarketers. One more call and I'll turn this over to the landsharks in our legal department.

Three calls. No VM. Hope they get tired.

Just got one from this # -- the spoofer is still active. Is there no way for the phone company to detect an illegit ANI?

I am posting from the number 508-281-7600. This number belongs to Access Northeast. We are a datacenter in Massachusetts. Calls that have been received from 508 281 7600 did not originate from our company. Our number is being used erronously or otherwise by another agency that is displaying our caller ID instead of their own. We suspect the source of the issue is an auto-dialer from a local publishing company. We are looking into the problem. Thank you for your patience while we try to resolve this. Thank you. Access Northeast

Mike Driscoll's post was accurate:
"Unsolicited call. Called back and reached a Robin who stated that their caller ID had been hijacked.
She was very pleasant and apologized.
Legitimate company who has fallen victim to scammers."
Please recognize that it's not the owner of the phone number who is actually making the call. Spoofing phone numbers is a new low for spammers.

Yep, some disturbed individual, ie; if not simply poling for numbers in service (for some nefarious reason). The phone number's company seems genuinely unrelated to these hang up calls and indicate to me that someone is somehow 'illegally' displaying this company's phone number.
