I did get a machine on this number. Claiming to be SS and asking me to leave my SS number. Of course I didn't.
Legit SS does say that 510-970 is SS office in Richmond, CA. Still something smells about this whole thing ...
| Traruh 2013-12-26 16:52:55 Unknown |
I did get through to SS. The person on the phone seemed ignorant and uninterested. She did confirm that 510-970-xxxx is a
SS office in Richmond Ca and suggested that 1100 is an internal number that can't be called.
Of course the caller could have spoofed that number ...
Anyway it doesn't seem like SS will take this seriously. If these are legit calls they need to make that clear.

510-970-1100
Very strange number. I got a call from this after submitting SS application on line. They asked me if I wanted to back date my start time to age 66 which I gather is not possible.
When called I get this number them 'this number not in service' type message. It does not sound like the phone companies artificial voice. In fact it sound like the same guy I talked to.
They did not get any useful info out of me. I have to wonder about post claiming to have checked this with SS. I've got a call in to SS to check it out myself.

Got the call from (510) 970-1100, which you cannot call back. Lady said she was from Social Security (SS) and gave me a 877 number to call back on and also gave me her direct line. I did my research, called the main SS number at 1-800-772-1213, three times, and to make a long story short, the number was in fact from a branch office of Social Security Western processing Center, located in Richmond CA, calling to help me process a claim. In fact the claim was processed very fast after I spoke with the lady. By the way she also encouraged me to call the SS main number and completely understood my concerns. On my third call to SS I talked with a supervisor who was very helpful and was able to verify all the information, numbers, names etc., and addressed my concerns, which me feel very good. Bottom line as of now on July 2013, I can said that (510) 970-1100 is the Social Security Admin calling.

ok but I live in washington, why would they be calling me from california
| Erik 2012-06-12 20:58:58 Unknown |
It is the Social Security Administration. I have been trying to resolve a issue with them for monthes.
They can call you, but the number won't allow you to return their call. You have to call the main number and wait to talk to someone...

I got a call from that number; a woman claiming to be w/the Social Security Administration asking for ssn or birth date of my recently deceased mother whom I had previously submitted an SS claim informing them of her passing. I told the woman she can mail anything to me and I would complete it and mail it back to the Social Security Administration.
