Keep calling. I have not answered. It seems weird that everyone keeps saying the caller is a woman. I appreciate the comments and I will continue to not answer.

I ALWAYS ask how much goes to fund raising and over head. THEY DO NOT LIKE THAT QUESTION!
I tell them I only donate to my local and community charities, and I do. I feel better walking in the door, seeing the facilities and looking them in the face before handing over my hard earned money.

It appears that this 'Children's Cancer' organization impersonates a different children's cancer group. I have no way of knowing but it also appears that the 'legit' children's cancer organization sold my phone number to numerous scammers (I had a ton of telemarketers calling for donations shortly after donating to the 'legit' organization).. The 512-831-5441 caller is a scam, for months calling me sometimes three times a day even though I have repeatedly asked them to stop. I have made a police report and I hope that eventually the calls will stop, but I'm not betting on it. The Children's Cancer caller may never go away. My call-blocking already has the maximum of 10 numbers, so I am out of luck on this one. Effective immediately I will never again donate money to any organization for any reason.

So, I get a call from Children Cance (caller ID) 512-831-5441. Asking for a pledge ($) if it's ok to send me an envelope to give them a contribution of $50. So, I ask that's half of my water bill, will you pay my water bill? She says, well I know it's very difficult but can you send $25 instead? So I asked, "you are calling me for $ and it has to be your amount? I have no problem sending money for a Cancer Center. But why it has to be your amount and not what I can send? She hangs up...

Reading these comments, my blood boils. I lost my sweetheart to ovarian cancer a year and a half ago...hate the thought of scammers using a guilt-trip about cancer as a way to scam. I walked through the gates of Hell with my sweetheart, and I don't appreciate this kind of filth trying to bilk money out of people, using a horrible disease as a foot in the door.
BLOCKED!

BLOCK 'EM! "'Tis the season!" (for holiday scammers seeking "donations" for their "causes.") This is a scam. They have called repeatedly over the past couple of years, often hanging up on answering machine without leaving a message The call (with an Austin area code) came in at 7:57 p.m. to the Houston area. The caller asked for the man of the house by his given first name (by which none of his friends, business associates, or family calls him... he goes by a nickname.) I said, "Look, 'Children's Cancer,' [what had appeared on caller ID] we don't make donations over the phone, we don't give out our credit card numbers, and especially not to cold callers claiming to be with organizations we are not familiar with." Caller claimed she'd put us on the don't call list and hung up. Block these folks in good conscience... (too bad our phone service only accommodates 10 numbers max so we have to clear them and start over quite often.)

The 512 area code is in Austin, TX. According to the BBB, the only Children's Cancer anything (located in Austin) is believed to be out of business and NOT accredited by the BBB! Just another scam!!

The group Children's Cancer Recovery Fund/Foundation spends most of their money on fundraising and overhead. Their fundraisers keep a lot more of the money than ever gets to cancer patients. They now use robo-calls from Associated Community Services to do their smarmy fundraising calls. They operate in the U.S. and Canada, there have been articles in the Canadian and U.S. press talking about how much of their money they spend on overhead (80-85%). Associated Community Services is well known as a fundraiser who keeps most of the money raised, http://www.tampabay.com/americas-worst-charit ... ervices-inc-acs
Do not give them any money

Been getting call from this number for days. I finally spoke to someone tonight who was asking for my husband by name. Caller said he had committed to a donation. I knew this was not true as we never give to phone solitations. I asked more questions - "it's for children with cancer etc". I had already researched this number and knew about this fund raising scheme. I asked how much went to the children and how much to the fundraising. the caller admitted the children with cancer get 15% - remaining 85% goes to the fundraiser. How dispicable to use sick children to deceive unknowing people to give when so little benefits the children. Too much of this type of activity going on. BeWare!!!

Hard sell with guilt to give to children's cancer recovery foundation. Bad company with bad charity rating. They give more to themselves than they do to help other kids.
