Pretty much the same scam as all of the above...

I am an HR Manager at a hotel in California and I intercepted his call since he was asking for an Associate of ours.  I would not confirm or deny whether the individual he was inquiring about actually worked for us, but I did ask him to provide a SS# and he did and it was accurate, so he clearly has obtained that info.

In my case he said, in a thick Indian accent, that his name was Steve Alexander and that he was calling from the the Texas Department of Crimes and Prevention.

What a scumbag!

Ive been getting a call from some "Jeff William".  He has an extremely thick Indian accent and I have no doubt in my mind its not his real name.  I was very scared thinking that I owed money from a previous payday loan.  And when he told me he was an officer for the Office of Financial Crimes I immediately searched the internet for this place.  Thank god I found out it was a scam before I gave him any money!!

Received a phone call from "office John Black"  with the Department of Financial crimes(no such place)-so much noise in back ground and the heaviest Indian accent I have heard stating I have commited a crime but he did quote me my social security number.  I have not talked with them but looked up this call back number and the number they called from 052594517 both coming up with the same scenario.  This is a fake.  I am reporting both number to the FTC and my local offices.  I do have pay day loans but not from these people.   Don't give them any information.

I just received the same exact message from a "Jeff William".  Same heavy accent and very threatening. He threatened to come to my home and do me bodily injury if I didn't pay a debt that I don't have. Needless to say, I was terrified.    I googled the number 512-985-2133 and Office of Financial Crimes and found this posting. Thank God I did before calling back.

I have this same thing happening to me. They are calling my work harressing me. they called 10xs within 5 min. It is just ridic. I at first thought I did owe money and was going to make an arrangement and when they continued to call and say they were going to file a lawsuit and swear at me and many other things I knew it couldn't be a real collector because by law they cannot swear or threaten me. I asked him for a letter and he said it was a paperless loan which i know ive never taken a paperless loan out. I keep all of the contracts for payday loans that i have taken in the past. I asked for his Company ID and he said that he couldnt give it to me which by law they have to give me if they are legit and i ask for it. I called the state police and they said they cant do anything if they are not in the US.

I just got a call on my cell phone from 052594517, and when I answered there was a man with a very thick Indian accent claiming to be from the Department of Financial Crimes. He wanted to verify my information, and repeated back to me things like the last 4 digits of my ssn, my address, city, state, zip, etc. I couldn't hear him very well and so I asked if I could call him back and what is the best number to reach him at. He gave me (512) 985-2133. Because I have some payday loans that I was a couple days behind on due to slow work, I thought it might be collections and that they were just trying to use scare tactics. I did a reverse lookup of the number, as well as google'd it. This site came up as the first in the google search, and now I suspect that they are just a collections company that is very forward. The caller didn't threaten me, but I did feel a little scared about him saying he was with Financial Crimes thinking that I may had inadvertently committed a crime of some kind. Now that I see this website I will essentially ignore his threats/calls as I'm paying back my loan, but just a little late with some payments.

Called me at work as "Officer Jeff Williams" from the federal department of internet crimes.  Said I owed an internet loan and was going to take me to court for $4000, but would settle today for $200.  He also said that if I didn't, he would have me fired within 24 hours.  He asked to talk to my manager and when my manager picked up, he hung up.  He repeated my address, last 4 digits of SSN and bank.  Called back 4 times until I told him I was giving his information to our corporate office.
