Definitely a scam. Got call from 513-579-5300, was a machine, requesting to “confirm a change in my account”. Did not respond, but hung up. I called the number back 15 min later, and got message: This number has changed, call 1-800-972-3030. I called it. Got machine and option menu. Said, “For better service and shorter wait time to enter card#, SS# or, to enter act#, press # key; I did not. Gave me 6 menu options, I chose #6 “Anything else”. Got another menu, 8 options. I chose #8 “Anything else”. Upon transfer, new message says “The number has been disconnected”, and the call disconnects. I call back again, and chose #6, and then #1 “Checking/Savings Account”, the call is placed in que and music is played. After 20 secs, message reminds, “For better service, and shorter wait times, please enter your SS# or Act#.” Did not wait around, but, I suspect you can never connect to a person. Hung up.. Never give this kind of information over the phone. The scam tries to convince you that you will need to give SS#, Account#, or Card# so they can steal your identity. They call saying there is an issue with your bank account so you are worried, and become more willing to share information in order to find out what's wrong with your account. They use your desire to avoid long wait times, and count on you being impatient and worried. The automated menu is professional sounding and sounds legit. Instead of responding to this scam, I contacted my local branch who is able to see any real problems, and there were none. They said, when there is a problem, the local branch makes the call, not a call center in some other State.

Ok, I called 5/3 bank (I have a home loan through them) and asked them why this number keeps calling me. He said it's the collection agency and I am probably in there computer by mistake. He says it happens all of the time. They removed me from the computer. We'll see if the calls stop.

Sounds like I get the same calls as everyone else. Chase also does the same thing. It seems like a machine will call and you wait on the phone for several seconds and than you are transfered to a customer service representative. It is really annoying. They always call when I cannot answer at work and never leave messages. I have not figured out yet why they have called.

I got three calls from this number today, but I never answered them since I don't recognize the number. They never leave messages.

How interesting. Reading the above postings may the reason they called me as a solicitor and not concern for my $17.26 checking account. Trying to peddle me with a credit card offer when I am unemployed.

I have been receiving calls at my WORK! Today they called at 5:50 and 10:14. Each time they've called I haven't been able to answer and they haven't left a voice message. However, my voice mail on my work number is OBVIOUSLY a work voice mail. Is it the attorney general that I should contact to make sure this stops?

I have been getting at least 4 calls a day from this number, even on weekends. This has been going on for a couple months. It is getting to the point where it useless to answer my phone or check my voicemail anymore. I tried calling them back once and they apologized and said the number used to belong to someone else and they would remove me from the list. Well a week later the calls started again. This time I have contacted the bank via email and we will see what happens. I have never had an account with 5/3 or Old Kent or any other bank except my own which I know is not affiliated.

They've been calling me 6x's a day for about 3 days. I don't pick up and they don't leave a message. I have no accounts or business with 5/3rd Bank. I called from a generic line and gave them the number (they have it anyhow). They blocked it from their system and said it'll take about 48 hours to take effect. We'll see.

Left message on answering machine and stated he was calling from fifth third. Said his name so fast and garbled that the name could not be ascertained. Did not leave any call back number or any useful information.

According to most of the other comments, this is good ole FIFTH THIRD BANK, is it?
Well, this crap is enough to make me switch to another bank ~~ and I think we will after the first of the year.
Before 5/3 bought out Old Kent Bank, we had no problem.
They don't merely desire our money, they also want to fill up our Caller ID's.

I have been receiving numerous calls from this number. Whenever I pickup an automated voice starts telling me some options. I am very annoyed with them. I have also called 5/3 Bank and asked them to take my number off the list. I am not even a 5/3 Bank customer.
I am really frustrated with them and would surely like to take action!
| Sue 2011-06-06 20:50:30 Unknown |
I work for 5/3 Bank and can confirm this number shows up for ALL calls coming from the Cincinnati call center. When I call my husband from work this number always shows up on his caller ID. I am just an admin so I don't make outbound calls to customers but I overhear a lot of people who do. The section to one side of me is offering credit cards and the section behind me is offering home equity lines of credit. The sales people in my department call on business banking customers to sell credit card processing. They do ask for some personal information before discussing an account. They should ask for 2 "in wallet" and 1 "out of wallet" piece of info. In wallet would be anything someone could find in your wallet...address, name, phone number, ssn. Out of wallet is mother's maiden name, last deposit amount, additional signers on the account....
