Received numerous calls from these people.  Seemed like predatory debt collectors to me because they had some account info from 10 years ago that I had removed in a Bankruptcy.  If you see this number, don't answer it and follow the folks advice above.

Got a call from these thugs today asking for Michael. I told them not Michael was at this number, They then asked for a family member of Michael. I again told the person that there was no Michael at this number. I asked them what number they called and they actually had the number correct. It sounds like a PHISHING SCAM. Try to get family members to send money to keep MICHAEL out of JAIL!!!

Caller asked for Randy (not my name) I asked who was calling and after I asked twice she said it was the department of civil procedures.  Nothing comes up on a google search for that name so I searched the phone number and arrived here.  Told them my phone number does not have a randy associated with it and they hung up.

Debt Collector
This number appears to be an abusive debt collector that has possibly bought old debts or is trying to collect on debts that have been paid.  The Federal Trade Commission laws restricts debt collectors from 1) contacting relatives in relation to the collection of a debt, 2) threaten or imply they are the police, will have someone arrested, or have someone taken to court unless the legal action has formally been enacted by a lawyer licensed in the state of residence, 4) use foul language.  The collector must, if asked, provide the name of their company, their company address, and a copy of the debt instrument, a copy of the original companies payment or invoicing records, and documentation of debt collection activities.

To file a complaint about abusive debt collection or telemarketer interactions, email the FTC criminal liaison unit at CLU@ftc.gov.  To understand your rights related to debt collection activities or telemarketer scams, you can search Federal Trade Commission, Criminal Liaison Unit.

Received a call today from a black male (there was tons of noise in the background, obvious call center) asking for a "stern".  I didn't understand him and asked him again ... he says he "axed me is this was Stern". I replied no, that this was our number (recited the number) and that we have had this number for 12 years. He hung up on me. I called back and got a voice greeting that I have called Home Security and to state my name after the beep. Weird. Wish I had looked at this website before even talking to them.

Debt Collector
Is a group of licensed, but HIGHLY DISREPUTABLE collection agencies out of Orlando, FL.  They can't even spell FDCPA, much less read it.
SUGGESTIONS (I am NOT an attorney and am NOT attempting to dispense legal advice.  These are my PERSONAL suggestions)
1-IF you decide to answer one of their MANY calls from about 50 different telephone numbers (no, I?m not exaggerating), give them NO INFORMATION.  In fact, YOU MAKE THEM ANSWER QUESTIONS, and if they don?t, hang up on them!   I don?t know anything about spoofing/masking numbers, but there have been comments that they are VOIP?ing the majority of the numbers they?re calling from.  I do not doubt this, as a person said the number showing on her phone was that of the local police department.
2-Keep a running log of the date, time, telephone number, person calling and note of conversation to file with your complaints.  (Or, try to record the call, BUT they usually hang up when they?re told they?re being recorded.  ROFLOL, now how many LEGITIMATE collection agencies would do that?  NONE that I?ve ever heard!
3-Look up your state?s Statute of Limitations on debts that can be pursued in court (that you can still be sued for).  It seems to vary from 3-15years.
4-DO NOT allow them to intimidate or frighten you.  These idiots have even called the numbers attorneys, police officers, etc. with this scam.  Intelligent, they are NOT.

USUAL PLOYS:
1-call friends, neighbors, relatives, employers, and you trying to intimidate you into paying JUST to make the calls stop (but, from looking online, they don?t stop?they just demand more). ? Ask these folks to also keep a log of the calls, give them this internet page to check.  Ask them to do a search for ANY of these company names.  They?ll soon realize it that these people are nothing but SCAMMERS.
2-??have important legal documents (or summons) to deliver, will you be home ---(day) from 8:30 to 4:30 to accept it??
3-?There?s a warrant out for your arrest UNLESS you send us $xxx TODAY?  -- they seem to prefer asking for the ?Green Dot? prepaid card and want you to call back with the numbers on back ? harder to trace where to $ goes, apparently.

COMPANY NAMES:
Goodman and Stern LLC, aka GSA Recovery, aka GSA Management Orlando, FL  ? AND/OR ? EIESNBURG, WHITMAN & ASSOCIATES LLC, Rubin and Weizman, LLC.

TYPE OF CALL:
SCAM AND/OR EXTORTION BY A DISREPUTABLE LICENSED COLLECTION AGENCY

Have some fun: buy a whistle or air horn, sing off key, give the phone to a squealing/squawling baby or pup ... :-)
