this company calls at least once a week, everytime I can get someone on the phone I ask if they will take my name off the list and they hang up on me.  A long recorded message this time as well.

same as all the others. Calls are nonstop. Then if you call the number back, you get some stupid generic message with no company name, which eventually hangs up on you. I feel bad for people that fall for this scam. They really need to be stopped!

Company's name:  Extended Auto Warranty
Address: 1868 N. University Dr. Ste. 304 , Plantation, FL Zip: 33322

corporate - 954-423-3700

^^^that is the number to their corporate office, call them and tell them you are going to file harassment charges on them as well as illegal interstate commerce if they do not remove your phone number from their list.  It's the only solution....

In addition to complaining to the Do Not Call folks fill out an FCC Form 1088.  These Auto Warranty calls seize your line which is illegal.  that is two strikes against these fools.

Folks, don't get angry-  Instead, take a few moments to make the most out of this opportunity.

Yes- this is an opportunity.  After you’ve done all the Do Not Call stuff (which works sometimes) now it’s time to have a little fun

Pretend you are someone that does them no good.  Take up their time with stupid questions (yes there is such a thing as a dumb question).  Make them explain very basic things to you over and over and over.  Ask them to repeat that last thing they just said, ‘cuz Boomer knocked over his water pail.

Then tell them a story.  Make it sound halfway credible.  It could be about the time your cousin Jim Bob brought his pickup truck in for warranty work and then they had lunch at the diner and then the stuffed cabbage was raw and then the ambulance came and then he had to leave to get his truck, but then the warranty work wasn’t covered under the warranty and the damn door window still wouldn't go up and then the tornado sireen went off “but there wasn’t no tornadah..”  and then ...

See?  They hang up on me angry, and I'm feeling happy and entertained!  Works for me every time.  You'll never hear back from telemarketers who know that you aren't going to be an easy call.

Angry hang ups are easy for these scum.  Stupid –yet potential- customers with lots of questions on the verge of buying something are the tough ones for them.

Be the tough one.

I've got calls from these scammers before. Previous *57 traces failed, but the recent one succeeded on 4/28 at 12:45pm. After filing the police report and getting AT&T to forward the number to them, I got the number 516-858-7142. Not only are these folks illegal telemarketers / fraud / phishing scammers, but the call I got wouldn't disconnect even after several attempts to hang up. I was expecting an important phone call, and couldn't clear my line.

The number is registered to Level3 communications, which in turn resells it to XO communications. I couldn't get to XO before they closed for business yesterday, so I'll have to follow up next week.

Computer called and said my warranty expired then call was transferred to an operator who asked for make and model of vehicle.
When I inquired about what vehicle she was calling about, she hung up.
I am curious about whether or not she was trying to get information to identity theft people.

Got a call from Auto Warranty (this is the first I've received from the 516 area code. (Manhasset NY, Caller ID was "Auto Warranty"), indicating the usual (my auto warranty was going to expire, this is the last warning, etc.) and I pressed 1 to talk to someone.

They asked me to verify my year, make & model, and when I said I drove a 1949 Buick, the guy on the line was confused, and said that their system only goes back to 1980.

I played the "shocked" card, stating that I couldn't remember if I had a 60 YEAR or 70 YEAR warranty from Buick. He said that there was something wrong, and that their data only goes back to 1980. I then got upset, asking why I had been paying them for my auto warranty for decades, and now I'm not in their system?

I then proceeded to tell the guy to go screw himself and stop calling me, get a real job, and he replied that I need to see a psychiatrist or something, before hanging up on me.

These people have apparently gotten a new phone number. They called me from 516-858-7178.

Similar experiance to everyone else. I called and asked which car they were calling about (we have 3). They said that "my name" (i had not given them my name) was not on either of the cars they had. I then asked them what name was on the car where the warranty was expiring, they told me that by the way i was talking i obviously had no idea what i was talking about and that to tell my parents when they got home that their warranty was expiring and promptly hung up on me. (I'm an adult and own my own car??)

Just got a call from them for the first time (and hopefully the last). They kept telling me that they couldn't even tell me which vehicle they were calling about unless I gave them a number off of some postcard they supposedly sent out. Oddly enough, they didn't ask for any identifying information other than the make and model of the car (I told them they should tell me :). When I persisted, they told me that they "didn't like my tone" and that they were taking me off of their list... with any luck, they actually did. Idiots.

I got a call from this number just a few moments ago. I waited on a rep and when she answered she said "Mrs. XXXX I understand you are interested in extending your car warranty" I said sure but on which car..I knew it was a scam but wanted to lead her into her own lies. She replied " the newest car in the home, your warranty is about to expire" I said well that's funny b/c I just bought my car last month and my husband bought his truck yesterday so I don't think that's possible. ....she hung up! lol

All these types of calls made by different-2 call centers executives... they are taught to handle different-2 segments for collecting information and money.
After collecting information they use it for SCAM...... and threaten people for paying back payday loan ... which actually they didn't took....
I am an Indian..... and i used to work for that type of call center.

Thanks

Just got a call from this number on my cell phone - an important call about my auto warranty expiring.  How can it be legal for people to make these calls, and if it is not how is it that they are continuing to do it?

This caller called at 6:31 p.m. on 4/29/09.  I let the answering machine get it.  No message was left, so I used *69 to find the number, and I Googled it.  Upon seeing that there were many other complaints about this number on this Website, I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call registry.

The auto warranty scammer. Do not call violation, and a recorded message which ran for at least 30 seconds after I picked up, which is also illegal. These people are notorious crooks. I filed a Do Not Call Registry report.
