When I receive calls from this number or others that keep calling me, I do the following. I have selective call forwarding with Insight Communications. I forward their calls to the "DO NOT CALL LIST" telephone number or another number of my choice. After a few days they quit calling.

They call my cell phone number, which has a "do not call" on it.

Stop calling, repeat calling, answer and no one there.

This number calls me and it sounds like a fax trying to connect. How do I get it to stop?

I found this post from someone else, I tried it and the girl answered after one ring, I gave her the number they've been harassing me at and she said she'd remove my number.

I answer-no one speaks.  I get the call EVERY DAY, several times a day!!!!!!!!!!!  Talking in the background but, again, no one speaks!

Been getting calls from this number for about a week, at least 5 per day!

My phone is in the DO NOT CALL LIST, but still I am getting phone calls from several telemarketers and this number is one of them
I do not answer when my caller ID shows Unknown name, out of area etc. but it bothers been receiving calls at any time during the day and some times early in the morning.

Called at 6pm tonight - no voicemail and I didn't pickup.

Has called several times no response when I answer.

Get these calls daily. Not behind on any bills, don't have or have ever had any dealings with GMAC.  Never anyone there when I answer and never leave a message.  Whats up?  How do I make them stop?

They keep calling.....and calling... and...I don't pick up.  I figure they will go away.  Same as 'dingy7153' above.  I am not behind on bills and have never done business with GMAC....probably won't either.

It appears by the traffic here and other places I have researched that this number is computer executed.  I have found it under a couple of names.  Coldwell Banker and GMAC.  It originates from a switch in Albany NY but a deeper trace reveals it has been triggered by someone or something out of Ohio, California, New York....etc. Not sure what any of us can do about this intrusive business model but something should be done to eliminate it as a "preferred business practice."

I think its the marketing / survey company that Kaiser foundation uses for quality control.  They probably just wanted to do a quick survey.  I didn't answer.  No message left.

If it IS Kasier's survey company they should leave a brief message at least.

I do not have a mortgage or any loan with anyone. why would they call me ?
Any why won't they leave a message or even speak when you do answer when the phone is picked up ?
Maybe some kind of scam or trying to get access to your computer by way of the phone line.

Asked for my husband by name, had our address and phone.  Said that my husband is a member of Handyman, and wanted to talk with him about it.  I told him that I'm his wife and we have no such membership.  He then proceeded to say that maybe someone signed him up, that sometimes that happens.  They guy was ok, not mean or anything.  This was a really weird call, though!  Merry Christmas!

Did not leave a message.  I have no idea why GMAC (if it is GMAC)would be calling our number!

I too called 800-724-5318 and spoke with a person to ask to be removed from their database. Of course I was told no problem, yadda yadda. The calls continue, calling back it says voicemail but person doesn't subscribe to it, WTF? Today is Sunday, dinner time for many [5:30pm]. I called the 800# above , closed of course! I left a message with my # informing them that if the calls contiue I'll be calling NY's attorney general. WISH ME LUCK!!!

Unfortunatly, I work for this company on behalf of GMAC, we are all certainly sorry for the inconvience that the poor work ethics of this company. We too get frustrated with several repeat calling to the same people everyday 7, 8, 9 times a day. We get a certain amount of numbers which are loaded into a dialer and when they run out the numbers gets recycled this goes on from 1pm to 10pm est. If we mention it to one of the supervisors we get chewed out. This is no picnic either for us. Very hostile work environment. We as reps get yelled out by supervisors for talking to each other quietly between calls but the Mangager can come out yelling at people and supervisors on the floor in front of people..very belittling. A couple of us have been there for years and the company is hiring people off the streets making just as much as we are. As far as getting sick, I get sick everyday I have to go into this place but the way the economy is we are just happy to have a place to work.

Getting dozens of calls from this number a week - no message ever left, and when you get pissed enough to answer no one is on the line.  Just realized my new wireless phones have a call blocking feature and will take advantage of it!

Just got call from 518-694-5470.  I am on a do not call list, but it does not appear to always work.  Probably a collection agency with the wrong person having same name as mine.  Left no message as usual for collection agencies.
Phone number is from Albany, New York.

Second call in as many weeks.
This nuisance calling proves that the Do Not Call list does not work.

I followed the steps left by rich to call 1 800 724 5318 and have my number removed from their system.  It took literally 10 seconds and the call was done.  no more phone calls on my WORK TELEPHONE NUMBER!!  No idea how they got it.  I think they were calling on behalf of my college alumni.  If they really needed to talk to me, leave a message or mail me something for crying out loud - don't bother me at work.  What a pain, they celled me multiple times a day for about 3 weeks and never left a message.
