Just had a call from this number, demanding confidential employee information, I told her I couldn't verify who she was so she asked to transfer to the owner of the company, when she got through to the persons messaging service she hung up. She was so rude....

Caller claimed to be Government Labour Compliance, asking if we were COR certified.  Believing she was who she said she was, I said yes.  She then asked if we had (a bunch of) specific Policies.  Then I clued in....we have to have everything she said in order to be COR certified.  

these dirt bags keep calling me and not talking when I answer, their mail box says they are a government department and oh by the way the box is full

Woman claiming to be Canadian Labour Compliance Agency Knew who I was and my business name which is easy to attain on the web. Claimed to be a government agency  making sure that employees were WHIMIS accredited.  I am a company of one with no employees. She said I didn't qualify, thanks have a nice day & hung up.

Hung up as soon as I answered.

Just received a call asking to speak to the person in charge of health and safety training at my location. When I said that was me, they asked when staff last had WHMIS training. I said we didn't handle hazardous materials onsite. He asked about fire extinguishers and toner cartridges and said provincial law required staff to be trained in proper usage and handling of these.. As I'm not in Ontario and figured a Manitoban number should be calling me about this I gave him a different number to call back on then looked them up. Needless to say I won't be answering if they call again.

Received a call from this number.  When I answered, no one was there and then the call disconnected.

Just got a call.
Said the same thing about WHMIS training, asking how many employees are there and who they can contact at the store. If anyone calls back asking for Max Power, I'm allowed to yell right?

I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I called the number back and the phone message referred me to this website:

I think they are trying to sell education to companies. It doesn't apply to my company or my husbands as we have no employees and don't handle any dangerous goods.
It makes me suspicious when the number comes up, but it only says Ontario. It seems they don't want to say who they are because then no one would answer their sales calls.

I have been contacted by this number 3 times this week.  The last call today said I needed by law to do the Whmis training for my staff, and he was quite rude.  As we do not handle dangerous goods, we don't need to.  I have called 5 different departments of government - provincial (BC) and federal and everyone said I don't think you need to be trained, your business doesn't qualify, however call this number to clarify. Finally I was told by a department within the WCB that no I do not have to.  The company in Ontario is trying to sell you on line sign up for the course.  Next time they call I won't be so polite I will just hang up on them.  There seems to be more and more telemarketer scams out there every day and it is a waste of my time to answer these calls.

Something about 'Canadian Health and Safety for Employees'...sounds 'official' so played dumb saying no employees and when inquired more specifically as to who they were, kept repeating like a mantra 'since you don't have any employees this doesn't apply to you'...when asked if this was a cold marketing call, just repeated the mantra.
