I downloaded aol 9.6 and it didn't let me sign on.  but i was able to sign on to the older version i had.  I tried to get help online with an AOL CHAT TECHNICIAN.  He had to gain access to my computer so he could diagnose the problem.  He gained access, and then told me i was hacked and that he would sell me something for $249.00 that would protect me for life from hackers.  I said no, and he persisted, i said absolutely not.  He then said i could purchase protection for $139.00.  He was persistent.  I said absolutely not. and he backed out of my computer.  I believe he hacked my computer.  The next day i got 4 different calls from Transcom Holdings and Transcom Enhanced trying to sell me the same thing over the phone as they tried to sell me over the computer.  This person i spoke to had a very strong accent. I don't know how this was pulled off.  But all the phone #'s had the same prefix for my home town,  but when called back the number isn't in service.

I have call blocking from Cox on my phone so I just blocked it using last caller. If you have Cox see if it comes with your service. My daughter told the guy she was calling the police and he instantly hung up. They said that we are reporting an error on our computer.

Same as the above - late night repeat calls which I didn't answer.

Check your phone service and see if you have "selective call rejection" which will allow you to block calls from spammers such as these.  According to my provider the FCC won't allow a telephone company to block these calls for everyone, you have to do it yourself.  But my provider allows me to block up to 31 numbers.

If you don't have selective call rejection, purchase a cheap high-pitched kid's whistle and blow it as loud as you can into the earpiece when you pick up the phone.

I received a call from Transcom Holdin (520-204-1097) today at work. A man with a thick Indian accent (who sounded as if he was calling from a large, echoing warehouse) said that my ISP had contracted with his company to make a diagnostic call on my business because our server was sending out "dangerous information" to the Internet. He said I had probably noticed that my computers were running slow (which they weren't). He said our server needed repair but not to worry because he could take care of it.

Eventually, I said that I didn't believe him and asked who my ISP was. Of course, he couldn't answer that question. I asked for his name, his company name, and his phone number-- David [blah, blah-- he said his last name to quickly for me to catch it] from I Experts in NY, and gave me a phone number that didn't have enough digits and didn't match the caller ID. This is when I hung up. I called Transcom at 520-204-1097 and got a not in service message with an Indian woman's voice. Goggle said the I Experts website may harm my computer. All very suspicious. I called my ISP, who took it seriously and sent it to their out-of-state security team and headquarters. I also filed a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General at AzAG.gov. I think this is a fishing expedition to get our server's IP address to steal information.

I answered and could immediately hear noise in the background like it's a calling center.* A young woman chearfully asked for me, I said this is me, and they said something like, "Hi, this is [her name that I couldn't catch] in san Diego, how are U doing?" I said okay, what's up? She said I was invited to go on a shark boat. I said, no thanks and hung up.

* Usually when I answer the phone and there's silence for three seconds and they pick up and I hear the noise, I immediately hang up.

This company is listed with this number 360-597-0166.  Tried to disconnect and make another call and was unable until the whole recorded message (political slander stuff) is over.  Very invasive!!

Well for heaven's sake.  What does it take for you folks to recognize a scam when you see it.  These folks are obviously after access to your personal information (bad) or your computer (even worse).  Report them to the Arizona Attorney General (1-800-352-8431 or 628-500 for Tucson.
They called me twice, always late on a Friday, once from the Phoenix number and once from the Tucson number.  Of course, no one answers when you try the caller id number.
I got the computer virus scam.  When I said I wasn't that stupid and would be calling the Attorney General's Office, they hung up.
Next time, they get the air horn!

This call is from TRANSOM HOLDINGS.  It is using our local prefix area code.  When I pick up the call ...it is a "computer" asking for my husband.  I click "not available" and the "voice" asks if "this person" (my husband) lives at this address.  Yesterday I hung up at that point.  This morning, I let it go to VM and it goes through the same "identification" process but leaves no message to call back.  I have looked this company up on the internet and as late as yesterday...people all living in AZ are now receiving this company's calls.  Evidently all in Phoenix area right now according to the area code.  Can't block phone calls because it DOES show a name on my Caller ID.  My phone company is unable to do anything about this and suggested I contact the FCC and be sure also I am on the National Do Not Call list.  YEAH...I've done that for many years and I am suspicious that the registry sells information because eventually it all happens again and I end up changing my telephone number AGAIN!  Seems the NDNC Registry is only temporary.

Basically from what I understand that when it shows up as Transcom Holding or you are basically getting calls from various area codes but they tend to be the same company trying to call you...such as collections...Telecom allows for the calls to appear as though they are coming from various area codes whereas it is the same company trying to call you. I just called a company that left their number (a credit card I am behind on) and got through to India. However, I prefer to speak to someone here in the states and asked a few times to be transferred and was then told they are closed and are open 8-5 EST. So I said fine...I will call back tomorrow when they are open in the states. I happen to calling from a phone that was not my own...and two seconds later got a call from Transcom Holding with a local area code and it was the guy I just hung up on offering to handle my call...I got pissed and said he was 1. REMOVE THE NUMBER from their database because it was not my number and they are not to call it. 2. I WILL CALL BACK IN THE MORNING TO SPEAK TO THE STATES!!!. So I hang up...guess what...two seconds later, my cell phone rings from an unknown number and guess who? So I now yelled...HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO TELL YOU I WILL CALL IN THE MORNING BECAUSE I WANT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN THE UNITED STATES!!! and then warned they had better not call my business cell phone two seconds after I get off the phone.

Bottom line...I believe Transcom Holdings, located in Irving Texas just enables companies be they collections, telemarketing etc to hide the true source of the call. Especially since it says it is coming from a local area code...who would suspect it to be a sweepstakes etc?

Just got a call from Transcom Holdings (per caller ID); showed it was from 602 283 1862.  I answered at the same time as my recorder; they had already hung up as soon as they heard the message start on the recorder.  I called the number right back and got a recording that says "The number you reached is not in service, this is a recording, 3820" and then the call drops and goes to dial tone.  I looked up this number and all it shows is that it's assigned to Mcleodusa Telecommunications Services, INC.- AZ.  I can't find anywhere in the Phoenix area for a company by this name.  I have been on the DNC list since the beginning.

A woman came on the line, asked for the business owner, and informed me that I needed to take down the cancellation number (for my yellowpages account) or I would be charged $500 renewal fee.  Informed me that she needed to transfer me to a cancellation rep and that I should keep my answers to a simple yes and take down the cancellation number carefully.  Waited on hold for a few minutes while reading the above posts and then hung up.  I hope they don't charge my phone account by the minute for that call...

Though they are calling through an exchange - the origin is from Jamacia (believe New York) and are telemarketer for your million dollar prize awaiting shipment provided you pay a fee ?60 to $100 for it to ship. They will take your credit card - beware beware, your only recourse is to block the exchange number if it repeats on your caller ID.

This "organization" called twice  very late last night and awakened us both times.  This morning, I tried to reach them on the "204-1097 #" but there was no pick up.  It is interesting to hear the other reports similar to mine.  We also are on the "Do not call list".  What an annoyance!

this number may show up as TRANSCOM HOLDINGS on CID, but, if you go to the whocalls.us/lookup/520-204-1097 website and click on the map link the REAL caller is NANPA: Assigned 2003-12-04 Tucson, Arizona (Mcleodusa Telecommunications Services, INC.- AZ

report all this to National Do Not call Registry and the FCC.  They are now calling form different numbers and one is from WA (though Caller ID shows Transcom Holdings) and it's really NANPA: Assigned 2003-12-04 Tucson, Arizona (Mcleodusa Telecommunications Services, INC.- AZ
