Got one myself - definitely targeting Sprint customers.
Janet 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
I just got the same message! I also have Sprint. When I call the # listed, it says mailbox is full.
Johanna 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
I've been receiving the same text messages from the 541,813 and today a different area code starting w/9. I called Sprint and they stated total scam!!
Jeanie 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
Same comments as above - 2 texts, same information, coming from same text number, listing different phone numbers to call. checked the website and saw the same information.
Someone "In" with SPRINT 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
OK PAY ATTENTION!!! FORWARD TO ALL YOU KNOW!!! HERE IS HOW TO STOP IT!!!!
I have "connections" with high people in SPRINT. I just spoke with the head of the Security Department.
1. Anyone can go on FCC website and find out what "blocks" of numbers are assigned to which carriers (for example phone numbers 804-123-1000 through 804-123-9000 are assigned to Verizon, 804-456-1000 through 804-456-9000 to Sprint...etc...) so NO, sprint is not selling our numbers and no one broke into their system and stole our numbers.
2. Sprint can log the complaints, but they technically have no legal authority to do anything to the person/company/whatever, because the action is not being done directly to SPRINT.
3. What YOU need to do is tell your local police. This is a criminal matter and needs to be reported as such to the police so they can stop it. I know what you are thinking, they aren't going to care... well yeah, if one or two people say they got a spam text, your probably right, they won't care... BUT if everyone that gets the text calls their local police and reports... epidemic = action!!!!!!
4. Make sure to save the texts in your phone! The police will probably need to see them or have you forward them to them.
5. Let EVERYONE know that they need to contact the local police (me personnally will be contacting the local and state police). Shoot, I might get real froggy and contact the local news as well.

I've recieved 3 of these messages, im also a sprint customer with a richmond, va number
Stephanie 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
I called Sprint and talked to Oliver (very helpful and nice customer service rep). He said you can log in at sprint.com and on the right side of the screen, click on block messages. He said to block the 9099 and also 9999 because those are typically phishing numbers. You can also email abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com and give the information for the texts you are getting so they can investigate it.

Annoying texts from New Gens to my Sprint cell
Greg 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
Just got one today said "Your US Bank Account has been frozen, please call 802... (cant remember the number)."
The wrong one 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
Bottom line Sprint customers shouldn't have to deal with this burden. To throw this extra crap in our laps and tell us to deal with it is ludicrous! Sprint, you have spam on your network, and its not your customers problem! Deal with it or the people will formerly ask a judge to our early termination waivers for other providers guarantees!

I am an AT&T customer in Richmond VA and apparently Sprint is not alone here. I just got a text from them saying my account is locked also...
Marco 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
Same message except that the phone number to call is different. Now it's 631 427 0842.
kaay. 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown

I have a Richmond, VA cell phone number and I am a Sprint customer as well. I have gotten a text from 9099 stating I need to call the following numbers: 305-434-8586, 814 352 8677, 928 493 0730, 541 210 5546, 813 435 1482. I have received six messages and it is very annoying. All but one went a recording asking for my card number and one went a girl named Jessica's voicemail, and it was full.
Nicole 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
got the same one too, also a sprint user.
CB, Richmond VA 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
Same problem as noted above by Ellen in Richmond, VA. I have Sprint as well.
Major SPAM trying to get CC info. Seem to be targeting SPRINT numbers. Texts are from 9099. The first few say: "New Generations alert. Please call 813 435 1482." Got that one twice. Then the next round say: "customer issue, new generations federal credit union service frozen. please call at 541 210 5546."
Crystal 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
customer issue, new generations federal credit union service frozen. please call at 541 210 5546

L 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown

SCAM - Message states to call New Generations Federal Credit Union, Acount Frozen, to Sprint customer from 9099 text message
Honked in Virginia 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
Same message, same numbers, same carrier. Two texts from 9099 yesterday, one today, both allegedly from "New Generations".
Time for concerted action!
pam 2011-06-06 20:51:16 Unknown
I got the same texts one saying New Generations alert call 813-435-1482 and the second mentioning a frozen credit union acct with the number 541-210-5546. Both came from 9099 so they looked official at first, but clearly aren't.
