Phone etiquette 101. The caller identifies him/herself FIRST, then they can ask for whomever they want.  Otherwise, just hang up on the rude losers.

I just got a phone call 2-3 minutes ago from this number .... STALKERS

YES IT IS IT WAS FROM THE CIVIL RIGHTS DIVISION IN OREGON FOR EMPLOYMENT!  IT CAN BE ANY STATE AGENCY IN THE POOL.  THEY LEFT ME A VOICE MAIL.

Likely these calls are coming from the local law enforcement agency. This happens when someone is calling from a jail phone, etc and the LEO do not want to tip the caller off as to who is calling.

Registered to Mr and MRs Smith... all the more convincing.

I receive a call from this # and called back less than 1 hr later and it said disconnected.

I THINK THE FOLKS ABOVE ARE RIGHT.  IT'S SOME SORT OF STATE "POOLED" NUMBER.  IT'S ALSO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.  AN UPTIGHT (RUDE) WOMAN WILL ASK YOU THINGS YOU ARE TOLD NOT TO GIVE OUT TO STRANGERS OVER THE PHONE....AND THEN BECOME EVEN MORE UPTIGHT (RUDE) WHEN YOU DON'T GIVE THEM TO HER.  HMMM... A SCAMMER COULD USE THE SAME PLOY...BEWARE!

I received a call from the OR employment dept. From this # .

I have received calls this morning & other times from (541) 471- 8299 listed out of Grants Pass, Oregon on a few occasions. It was a State of Oregon Government office for The Employment Dept out of Salem, Or, Dept of Human Services out of Medford & Portland, Or & even State of Oregon Revenue offices Salem, Or. It is a communication trunk number used by the Or. State Government offices to return or make calls from without having to rec. inundating incoming calls by having it routed to a disconnected number if called back. Hope this helps others to alleviate future confusion(s)

I am waiting for a firearm background check (on delay) I got a call on Sunday 1/20/2013, she asked me my birth date and knew my driving history (tickets i had in 1979) and told me I was approved for the firearm and they would contact the gun seller and let them know I have been approved.

Just got off of the phone with that number it came from social security office, actually talked to a person there.. Don't know what else is going on with that number but this was a legitimate call

This number just called me and she said that she was from the Department of Fish and Game for Oregon.

Seems this number is used randomly as an alias for government agency telephone call backs. I am sure that if researched, we would discover that there is a term and description for this kind of telephone number pooling.  

I would surmise, if you did not place a call to such agencies, don't worry about returning the call.

Same here just got a call called back said it was disconnected...

For me, this was about my Oregon Health Plan insurance.  (DHS)
It does register to a home in Grants Pass, not sure why...

I recently got my cell phone stolen and then about 3 days after I turned it back on this number called me looking for someone said they were a Fed Ex office and verified my number said it was the prefix but the lady seemed very unprofessional and like she'd been caught off guard when I said NO this isn't his phone... That's when I went online to search it and see if it really was a Fed Ex office and I find all these other listings I think it is a scam!!! I did not try and call it back...

When I called this # (877-222-2346) back it would just kick me back to a dial tone. I am wondering WHY they called my boyfriends # & left message when My # is on file with all those places...IRS, Employment, ect....

This is an unpublished number that keeps calling me.  I called it back and all I get is the disconnected schpeel.  Annoying.   I called 411 and they said it's not listed.  But I looked it up on Dex and it shows a residential address in Grants Pass and Mr and Mrs Smith.   Weird.

It is a Department of Human services extension number. Calls from DHS are routed throught his number.

Got a call didn't answer no message called back said it was disconnected then called me again an hour later answered and long story short it was the unemployment office
