unfortunately having the general public spend $$ on something as ridiculous as a call blocking device is not the solution. We all have better things to do w/our cash. This situation is similar to a few years ago when the FCC said we wouldn't have to put up w/increased volume on our tv's when commercials air, nothing ever came of that just like the NDNC list doe Zero. America is now like a third world economy, willing to look the other way for a payoff

Got a call from 559-437-5359 this afternoon. I didn't answer, no message. Caller ID showed IPSOS. This is a new one on me. I get probably 5-10 of this type of call most everyday. I finally learned to just not answer them. There is a phone system available from Panasonic that allows you to block up to 250 numbers. I just bought one and it works great. Just add a number to the Blocked Call list and the phone just hangs up on them and you never know that they called. This endeavor by crooks/scam artists and other undesirables is absolutely getting out of hand.

Caller ID said IPSOS.   They called, left no message, nothing.   I have just blocked them with my aftermarket blocking device.  From here on out, they'll hear nothing but RING RING RING and I'll hear nothing at all.  LMAO

By the way, it is my opinion that Filing complaints and helping government data bases does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP THESE CALLS!! This problem has gone on FAR TOO LONG. We are a powerful nation that has great tech & ideas & laws, yet, not one single thing is being done to prevent this from happening to US citizens. The powers and law makers in Washington DC could come up with a plan to stop this but they do NOTHING! Please, Give Me A Break! These lists & complaints do nothing as well. The only thing these sites are good for is to look to see if anyone else is experiencing problems with these numbers and to learn who they are by the posts of people who actually talked to these crooks... Oh, and the posts on this site also help the crooks to better taylor their scams because they know what people are planning, how they will be handling calls, other numbers connected that people are catching onto, what makes people angry and answer, and all other sorts of info.....Unfortunately these phone number posting sites are a wealth of info for the calling crooks and helps them to evolve in their ways to bug and scam us. If anyone takes the time to file complaints about these calls, then complain to the officials that have the power collectively and can do something about it...... YOUR LAW MAKERS IN WASHINGTON!!! Contact your state representatives in Washington DC!! If DC received as many complaints as found on these phone post sites, I would imagine we could finally accomplish something... Let's all work collectively on this and make it happen!! Americans, We All Fight Together!!

DO NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE EVER if you do not absolutely know who it is. If it is family, friends, banks, important companies or clients, or even a possible date...... If it is important enough, THEY WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE and then when calling back companies' numbers, DIAL THE ORIGINAL CONTACT NUMBER YOU HAVE ON FILE FOR THEM- - DO NOT DIAL THE NUMBER OR EMAIL THE ADDRESS THEY LEAVE YOU ON YOUR VOICEMAIL. Say CitiBank had left a message stating it was imperative you contact them right away regarding your account & you are to call them at the number & extension they provide............ DO NOT DO IT! Instead, go get your CitiBank Card or Bill and contact them with the Phone Number listed on card or bill & let them know you received a message from them regarding this matter & then take it from there. If you wish to speak to the correct, legitimate people then.... YOU MUST TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO INSURE THAT HAPPENS! Be Smart about it all. Don't let these Rats Con US Citizens!! Take A Stand!! By the way, you WILL SURVIVE without answering your phone and you WILL BE MORE AT PEACE if you just turn your ringer OFF on your landline, you will get the important messages so fear not. If using your cell phone, then silent ringer or adjust volumes & ring tones. If you really do not want to be tied to dealing with these scams every moment of the day when out, YOU SHOULD NOT DO TOO MUCH CALLING & SEARCHING FROM YOUR CELL PHONES. Wait till you get to the computer if it is not absolutely necessary to make those calls, searches or emails at that very minute from your phone (life or death) then, DON"T DO IT, WAIT! Have a little patience and use a little more common sense so that you do not give these crooks the upper hand by putting yourself in that position in the first place (regarding using cell phones for everything).      Best Regards!

We received some calls in recent past days from this number, too.
Phone Scammers these days are getting around the legalities of DNC because they are all starting to say they are just conducting a survey which is exempt from rules of the DNC. Also, they know that once you call them back at their number, they can legally call you because the law states that they are exempt if you had previous contact or dealings with them. They also can use that same line as a main hub line connecting to several of their other businesses (scams).
So, DO NOT CALL THESE NUMBERS BACK EVER & DO NOT EVER CALL NUMBERS THEY LEAVE ON YOUR VOICEMAIL!!! DO NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE!! If you answer, it just lets them know that you have a working number with someone that is gullible enough to answer the phone. Also, the longer they have you on the phone, the more info they gain about you to put into their research data bases about you & they can use for a later time when calling you to make you think they know you or have previously done business with you. They can also share or sell that data about you so that all other scammers have info on you too. They can trick you into believing it is legit with info you had provided even years ago. They keep it in a data base with your number on it. They already can get your name, age and address for free off the net. Also, when you answer, they usually can know your gender, language & accent you speak, approximate age group, how sleepy/foggy or alert you are for that time of day/night and etc. All these little things help them for future calls to you when even posing as another entity with a different number to catch you off guard. Now, if you are on a call even longer than just answering, they try to drag out even more info from you and if you are willing, you are providing them with a wealth of info that will never be erased because it will go under your name, address, phone number in a permanent database record & could be shared with millions. SO, THE MORE YOU ANSWER THESE CALLS, THE LONGER YOU ARE ON THE CALLS, THE MORE YOU TALK, THE MORE INFO YOU PROVIDE............... THE MORE YOU WILL BE HARASSED & BY MANY MORE SCAMMERS. DO NOT GIVE THEM THIS WEAPON AGAINST YOU!!! BE SMART!!!
Also, some of the earliest posts on this site regarding this number 559-437-5359, appear to possibly be the actual SCAMMERS themselves, posing as one of us. The posts that instruct you to call this number & have them remove your number & the calls stopped....... THAT IS SPOKEN LIKE A CON-ARTIST, SCAMMER! Again, they are just trying to convince you to make a call to them & establish your willful contact. DON"T DO IT!! These guys CAN & DO POSE ON THESE SITES!!

Since I work from home and get many calls per day like this.  I never answer the phone if I don't recognize the number.  However, I am interrupted by people who have no business calling me and I DO get irritated.
It 's not just one scammer calling, it's 1/2 dozen per day.  It adds up.  I personally think the Do Not Call registry is worthless and we are just wasting our tax money funding it.

Since my call blocking list is limited to 30 phone numbers, I add them to my regular phonebook with a "TM" for telemarketer added so I know I've already looked them up.

My phone callS (TWO OF THEM within FOUR (4) Minutes of each other) came in as "CALIFORNIA" on Caller ID. Companies who do not ID themselves on Caller ID are UP TO NO GOOD and are SCUM.

"JFR", I have an interesting story about SYNOVATE:  We used to be enrolled in a Consumer Review board for another Research Company.  The deal was, they'd send us brand new developed or newly improved products (like breakfast cereals, crackers, snack products, candy, etc.) to try for a week or two, and then carefully record our family's thoughts and reactions.  Sometimes I'd mail the survey in, sometimes they'd call me.  But, it was fun and we got 'rewarded' with free stuff.  Sometimes I even got paid a buck or two per survey; sometimes as much as $10.  The point is, they were respectful of my TIME and COMPENSATED me for it.
Then the company got bought out by another, and then another, until finally SYNOVATE owned them.  ***Everything changed.***  THEY called and just wanted to ask question about stuff we already owned or had bought in the past.  The compensation stopped.  I got so I didn't want to waste my time with then.  Then, the called and talked me into filling out a FIFTEEN (15!) PAGE survey on our vehicles.  My husband spent AN HOUR filling out all the questions, on the promise they would send us "a really nice gift."  We sent it in; guess what we got back?  A SINGLE packet of TRAVEL SIZE FACIAL TISSUE.  You know, the kind that you can buy for TEN of them in a package for about a BUCK at a dollar store????  SO, our "really nice gift" was LITERALLY WORTH TEN CENTS - THAT'S HOW MUCH SYNOVATE VALUED OUR TIME.

Is that your idea of a 'legitimate, upstanding company???

I sent them a postcard telling them I WAS CANCELLING OUR MEMBERSHIP and to GO F*** THEMSELVES for the way they treated us!  That was about 12-15 years ago.

SYNOVATE continued to try and call us and I repeatedly told them, "Are YOU getting PAID for your time?(YES.)  Well, *I* expect to get PAID for MY TIME, TOO." They always said, "There is not payment for this survey."  I kept telling them NOT to call, but they - SYNOVATE - CONTINUED to HARASS US.  I began telling them EVERY CALL they made to us would cost them $100 For our TIME and USE of OUR OWN, PAID FOR BY US - PHONE EQUIPMENT.  SYNOVATE continued to call, IGNORING our wishes.

THEN, the DNC List was passed, and we signed up.  SYNOVATE CALLED ONE MORE TIME and I told them I was putting in a COMPLAINT against them.  THE CALLS FINALLY STOPPED FROM THEM (although they may be behind all the CREDIT CARD PHISHING SCAMS that are going on daily.)

I didn't connect them to these schemes until I saw their name - SYNOVATE - here.
That would explain why we keep getting these calls.  They've had our number for at least 20 years.

DON'T ENGAGE with SYNOVATE in ANY WAY.  THEY ARE SCUMBAGS.

MOST of this info is correct.  Good job.

HOWEVER, you are WRONG about the 5 year renewal requirement.

I believe they changed that in 2010.  Its been changed to 'permanent' once you register now.  I believe its right on the HOME PAGE of the DoNotCall List website, the site you listed yourself at the bottom of the post.

You are FULL OF S***.  My PRIVATE, UNLISTED Home Business Line was called tonight - TWICE.  The ONLY way SYNOVATE got this number is by PERUSING CRAIGS LIST, where I've placed my ad OR by consecutive AUTODIALING.  NO BUSINESS that I have DONE business with has been given this number - so you did not get it from a 'client.'

And, BTW your "QTS dialer" is also known as a COMPUTER Dialer or a ROBOCALLER.  ROBOCALLS are ILLEGAL.  PERIOD.  So, despite your EXCUSES, your company is VIOLATING THE LAW and are SCUMBAG CRIMINALS.

I have A LOT of EXPERIENCE with SYNOVATE and their SHADY PRACTICES.  You work for a SCUMBAG COMPANY; therefore YOU are a SCUMBAG, Too.

Here's the bottom line:  DON"T CALL US **UNLESS** You ASK for PERMISSION BEFOREHAND and get a SIGNED CONSENT FORM.  Not 'We'll call you UNTIL you tell us NOT to call.  THAT's BS. In what other  situation does that rule apply?  Does a rapist get to RAPE  - UNLESS and UNTIL someone tells them NOT TO???  So, an unconscious person gets to be raped, legally????  NO.  DON'T CALL US.  Its the same a PHONE RAPE.

Yes, kj, I AGREE that we should ALL have the right - and the ability - to STOP these calls.  The fact that there are 'exemptions' if we don't WANT exemptions, is CRIMINAL.

The LAWMAKERS need to CHANGE this.  Perhaps WE should be ALL CALLING THEM, DAILY, until they do.

A SIMILAR number (559-437-5959) called our PRIVATE, UNPUBLISHED home business line TWICE tonight within FOUR minutes of each other at 7PM.  Caller ID said "CALIFORNIA." We did not answer.  Both times, it rang only twice and disconnected with NO MESSAGE.  I currently am running an ad for my business that clearly states ALL callers must LEAVE A MESSAGE with a NAME and  a Call-Back Number in order to get attention.

I suspect this is SPAM, but am surprised to be the first and only one to complain about *this* number.

Received a call one evening from a company called Synovate #559-437-5359. Told him that I wasn't interested and hung up. Now he calls me every other day or so, lets it ring 8-10 times then hangs up. This can happen 1-3 times in one day.

I thought my ID said Synquate but I could be mistaken.  It doesn't matter though because I never pick up a call with an unknown or suspicious number.  If a legitimate caller wants to reach me they can & will leave a message.

I have been told that many of the calls are robo calls with no one on the line, they are simply trying to discern a pattern of when someone is home so they can have their "people" call when they are most likely to reach a live person.  So, like I said, just do not answer.

This number's been persistently calling my house for at least the past week.  At least now I know who they are (or are not, as the case may be, since so many of them do like to spoof), which just strengthens my resolve to not answer the phone.  Anyone who's actually interested in speaking to me will leave a real message, not a robocall.  In this case I got neither.  Imagine that!
