Got a call from an Indian SCAM Artist trying to open a Merchant Account so that they can commit credit card fraud.
BEWARE !!!

i got 5 calls from two numbers i.e +15595158002 and +16613804705. There was an Indian was talking followed by the another person they were using very bad and abusive language and it was very disturbing .

Third, and what will be the final update: I called the call center again, and asked where they were located, and what number shows on their caller ID. I had a strange feeling in my mind. The service center rep answered she was in Kentucky, and that my number on her caller ID was: 661-380-4001.

I do not know if this is a skype only issue, or VOIP calls altogether. I haven't been able to verify with someone's mobile phone not local to my area code that changes occur. Maybe going outside of the registered area code causes this issue?

If anyone follows up on this thread, and decides to do some testing as well, it would be interesting to know their results.

Just to update. I called a friend's mobile number, and he sees my correct skype number. Why the call center saw my skype call as '559-515-8002'... I don't know.

A suggestion: if you receive a call from that number again, ask people you know have a VOIP number, if they've tried calling you. :/

I use Skype, and just called a call center for product support. When the phone rep attempted to verify my contact information, she asked if my number was "559-515-8002". I told her no, and asked why she thought "559-515-8002" is my number. She stated that is the number that shows on her caller ID.

I think skype is routing numbers incorrectly (at least for me) and if you are receiving calls from "559-515-8002", it may be a VOIP related issue from someone you know.

I assure you: I've not called any of you. But, as this number shows up on the service center's caller ID, I'm off to see if others see the same number, and if so: I'll spend a glorious afternoon YELLING at some poor skype employee.

This is a number Skype uses when making calls from a computer.

559 515 8002 called me in Iowa at 3:58 AM.  I called back and got the same recorded message about not being associated with any particular person.  Strange.

Called me at 2:34 AM Iowa time what the hell???

Actually, I have a business phone installed in my house, too.  I use my VoIP provider's IVR, caller ID filtering, and time condition services to automatically direct most of these calls to the bit bucket late at night and early in the morning.  I don't depend on a "Do Not Call" list, because I know that businesses are not eligible to sign up.  So that's how I avoid the annoyances of having a business line in my house.

As far as your report being helpful, let's examine it carefully:

That's your choice.  Most people don't do that, precisely because the DNC list isn't for business phones.  Why don't you turn it off or unplug it at those hours?  And how does our knowing that they called you on a "business phone" that "is installed in [your] house" help anyone help you, anyway?

The "line" is an inanimate object that can't speak, and you didn't say WHICH line said that, either, yours, the caller's, or another.  Not helpful.

I agree.  Installing a business phone in your house IS very annoying.
