I got a call today first from some lady she stated she was calling from the US Treasury, stating she was calling on be half of David Williams and she wonted to give me a number to call him back 5598365616. I asked her why did I need to call back the same number she is calling from, she stated he is busy with other clients. I informed her not to call me again. I waited about 15 minutes and called from my office line. Asked for Darin Williams the man on the line had a heavy accent and said your speaking to him I know it was a scam when he did not correct me. I asked what was the call pertaining to he stated if I did not pay 1440 dollars because of back taxes he would be sending the US Marshalls to my place of work or home and I could be spending 6 months in jail. I asked how and why he stated documents were sent to me explaining I owe back taxes from 2009-2010 because I did not file my taxes. I told him to send the documents again and I will contact my local IRS department. He said I still need to pay the money I stated until I am given proper documents he would not be given a dime. He stated he would contact the US Marshalls and asked me to hold. I hung up the phone.

Prank Call
1 line received 11 calls at exactly 11 a.m. from the same number only 1 call  was able to get through to answering machine.  This was a treasury dept.  scam supposedly from Hanford, CA a man named Samual Smith.  Seems many people have received similar threats.  To have 11 calls all at same time must be some "robo-dialer" set-up seemed Bopalized as well.

I got a call this morning from a lady with an accent  asking me to call back this number.  When I called back the number I got to speak to a man with a heavy accent saying he was from the IRS and he was calling regarding back taxes I owed.  I told him I did not owe back taxes and he must have the wrong person.  I asked him what address he had on file and he told me he could not tell me that, that I would be picked up and put in jail and than I could ask questions from a jail cell he than hung up on me.  I tried calling back but could not get him back.  I called my local police department and they tried calling him but could not speak to him.  The police said they left  a strong message if they call me again.  I hope they catch these people because this is very uncomfortable having someone to call and say they are going to lock you up even if you are not guilty of anything.  I placed a call to the Inspector General office and reported them and this number.  (1800-366-4484) Please report these people.

I received this call on my cell. I didnt answer, as i know no one in California. I listened to the message the man left, which explained he was with the treasury department and that this was regarding a law enforcement issue, lol. Last time i checked i dont believe a federal worker will call and leave you a message saying that you will be arrested. All i know is that if they call again, i will be ready to answer and believe me it wont be a pleasant phone call.

Thank God for the internet.  After receiving suspicious call, I checked the number online and it was confirmed, SCAM all the way.  The guy was really rude and mean.  He threatened me with the us marshals.  Being a Navy Brat and raised on military  bases, I already knew that when you get a phone call from a government agency, it will clearly state it on the caller id.

I received a call from the following phone number 559-836-5616 a man with a heavy accent Asian or Indian identified himself as a representative of the United States Treasury threatening to take legal action against me if I did not call him back immediately. I googled this number to find that a number of bogus and fraudulent calls have been made from this phone number to many people in various locations around the United States. This person should be dealt with asap! I am amazed he has been able to continue his SCAM attempts against so many innocent people for so long! Thank you for your attention to this matter!! Sincerely, Alan Niedbalski

Some man claiming to be Andy Gibson from the US Affairs, US Treasury left a detailed message threatening to take legal actions if I did not call back or have my attorney call regarding my owing money.  My husband had me google the number and I was able to see all of the reports of this scam.  I heard just yesterday on the news about an IRS scam and someone coming to your home or calling trying to get your refund.  Thanks to those who shared info about these tricksters. I hope they are caught real soon before they prey on the elderly.

Same 2 names. It sounded weird that they were not willing to work with you but would rather throw you in jail for 6 months. I went along trying to get a local office to talk to someone but no office was available. Then he asked if I was willing to take care on the matter immediately. He mention the Green Dot Money "Voucher". At that point I knew it was a scam. They wanted $1900 for the 2007 - 2008 tax years. Funny you could hear many voices in the background like a call center, maybe that was a recording? Someone needs to find these creeps.

Yesterday, 3/13/13 my wife recieved a call at home from a Mr. Steve Sebastian from the Treasury Department.  No message was left but that I was to return the call at 559 836 5616.  My wife relayed that information to me and I immediately returned the call.  Unfortunately I recorded the return number incorrectly as 559 836 5613.  Today after calling my wife to confirm the number I discovered my error and called the correct number ...5616.  After a few missed calls Mr. Sebastian and I connected.

I was informed that the IRS had contacted the Treasury Department and the Treasury was taking legal actions aginst me for income tax evasion.  Further, the person told me the authorities were en-route to apprehend me at my place of work and they were also sending someone to my home.  I was threatend with imprisonment of up to six months and $50,000 fine...my telephones were tapped ... the conversation was being taped.

The caller told me the amount to be collected was $6981 for tax evasion of my 2007 and 2008 tax years.  He also informed me that I would not receive any notice or bill from the IRS or Treasury Department.

Suspecting a fraud, immediately after the conversation terminated I notified my employeer's security department.

Received two voice messages from "Andy Gibson" within a couple of hours. US Treasury is coming for me, "big legal mess", and retain an attorney. What a joke. I wish I was here to take the call, I would have told him I'm a CPA (which is true) and that I am fairly confident my taxes are correct. The IRS will NEVER call you with an issue like this. You will always get a letter (or several!).

Same scam as mentioned above.  In this case, the heavy accent individual identified himself as Mark Gibson, with a financial matter from the Dept of Legal Affairs, which could result in a warrant for my arrest.

Same caller as that listed above.  I hung up the first time as he asked for my husband.  Second time he left a message on our phone saying the same things as those that have posted before me.  Please don't anyone give them the time of day. They will at the very least sell your contact information to the next telemarketing group.  I wish that our phone service AT&T would make it easier and free to block such calls.  Shouldn't be up to the gov (since the "do not call list" doesn't work anyway).  I am paying for phone service with AT&T and they should protect my privacy.  May just have to get rid of my landline and that bill.  What a shame.

Received several phone calls from 559-836-5616. A man with heavy accent, his name is Andy Gibson, left three messages threatening my wife that they will take legal actions against her because of serious tax issues. After the third call, in which he mentioned that this was the final call, I called them back and talked to someone named Steven Sebastian. He claimed to be the supervisor. He than told me that my wife will be put behind bars for 6 months if we don't cooperate. I asked him what address he had on file for us and sure enough it was an old address. I than told him that all of his information is false and that I am looking forward to the Sheriff coming to pick my wife up. He than hang up the phone. By the way in the background you could hear lots of voices. It sounded like a call center to me. Another interesting fact is that two of the phone calls came over the weekend and the third before business hours. I don't think that the IRS is working these hours. I am considering reporting these people to the local Sheriffs office.
