Yes, apparently this has been reported on several sites about this PayPal scammer(Eric Fernandez), which luckily I searched the email address founf this site. Which just stopped me in my tracks of making a deal with this person. Here is the emails he sent me;
1) "Email this address Erifard312@gmail.com or send me your email"
2) "Thanks. i'm currently looking for a gift for my son this makes me respond to your add. However, Am with the U.S Navy and currently station Naval Air Station, Lemoore, CA. I have an agent who will handle the shipment to my son after payment have been clear your account. Therefore, i need to be sure of its current condition and i can only pay you through pay pal because its safe and secure for transaction like this and since i will not be able to come for pick up, i guess that is the only way i can do this. Do you have anything specific you can tell me about it and i want you to send me an email stating that along with your pay pal email address for me to make the payment but if you don't have an account with pay pal, you can log on to www.paypal.com and sign up within 15mins. Hope to hear from you soon."
3) That sound fine. I am ready to make purchase whenever you but i can only have my agent come once and that will be pick up time because I cant afford to pay them twice.
What is your final asking price? and also you understand that I can only do this through pay pal so I will need your pay pal email address to make payment along with your pick up address for my agent to schedule pick up appointment after payment is sent and they test drive and pick up same day. Thanks."

He never mentions the item I am selling on Craigslist, but I replied with the condition of a snow machine (I am not selling a snow machine) and he cam back and said "That sound fine". I was suspicious, but this cuased me to do some searching.
Thank you for posting these warnings - we need to get these folks arrested!

This guy is still at it on Craigslist?. why can't they nail these b*****ds?

THis is content of email sent through craigslist? you should never respond through your own address, alway use Craigslist as the intermediary.

"Email this address Erifard312@gmail.com or send me your email"

Here is how the "PayPal Scam" or any other "online money service" scam works:

Says they will buy the item and will pay extra to cover charges by his shipping agent.
Says he will PayPal the funds and instruct you to send the extra money via wire transfer or pre-paid card to the agent.
He then sends you a fake PayPal deposit notice email, spoofing the official PayPal notice, that says the money has been put into your account.
You, thinking PayPal has your money, go ahead with the wire/prepaid transfer to the shipping agent, who is really the scammer.
After that, you then find out there was no money transferred to PayPal and are out the money your wired.

Here is how a "Craigslist Scam" or any other "I will send you a check for more than you asked" scam works:

He pays for the item + extra funds to cover his shipping agent costs with a bank draft or cashiers check.
He sends you a check, tells you to cash it and send the extra money to his shipping agent via wire transfer or prepaid card.
You cash/deposit check and wire/prepaid the funds to the agent.
Later, the check bounces as it was counterfeit. The money you sent to the agent, who is really the scammer, is unrecoverable due to it being wire transferred/prepaid card.
You are out money and now run the risk of being arrested for passing a counterfeit check.

Yeah... I got a message last night, said his name was Eric and said to email him @ Erifard312 at Gmail.com,  if I still had the item for sale (that is exactly how the email addy was typed out in the message, which I though was weird to begin with, but you never know with people). So, I did. Today I got a message from him telling me he wanted my email address and to text him @ (559) 997-6430. Thank God I was wise enough to Google the phone number! Thanks for all these posts!

This jerk tried to scam my mom . She had an ad on craigslist to sell a camper. Claimed to be in military and unable to call or come herself (Elizabeth Lawrence- lizzyduke4ever@gmail.com) and would send movers. Wanted my mom to send movers money via western union after she would put into pay pal account. This person needs to be stopped.
