The FBI is warning Tennessee residents about a new scam targeting customers of Regions Bank.

According to a notice issued Tuesday, residents of Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi have received automated telephone calls asking them to visit a fraudulent Web site and verify customer information, such as their user name and password.

Regions spokesman Tim Deighton said customers who receive such a call or who provided information on the Web site should contact the bank at 800-REGIONS or by sending an e-mail to fraud@regions.com.

"We will never ask for this information in this form," he said. "Never respond to a voice mail or e-mail asking to reactivate a service via e-mail or voice mail."

Yes, I got a call today from them. They did not identify themselves other than Regions bank. They asked if they could verify my address I then said " yes, tell me what address and information you have and I will verify if that is true" They stuttered and and asked the same question and then I said "How do I know this isn't a scam?" They hung up. Think about it, a bank doesn't TAKE info over the phone and give account information without levels of security and there was NONE!! You need to have CODES before THEY give YOU info!! Do not fall for this!!!

I am constantly getting calls from this number as well. Normally Regions will leave a message. But the persons calling from this number are not. So I'm not answering the calls.

I keep getting a call from the same number.  I'm not sure who it is but, they don't leave a message.  I don't pick up because they call repeatedly and while I am at work.  Now that I saw this, I also have a Regions Bank account - I wonder if their records were compromised or something of the sort.  Anyhow, I feel the same way about getting a call from a number with an extra digit...not answering and not giving them any of my information, thats for sure!

I'm getting one from this number, except it has an extra "4" at the end (560-435-54114 - too many digits).  Claims to be RegionsBank regarding a loan payment (which I do have a loan with them).  If you answer, they keep trying to "verify" information.  Personally, I'm uncomfortable giving out all of that information to someone that has called me from a number that doesn't even exist.
