called me today at work said I defaulted on a payday loan and if I didn't pay by 5:00 p.m. ($847.00) They were going to show up at my work and if I wasn't there my home.  That I was going to have to fight it out in court.  When I asked what their phone number was they gave me 760-713-6517.  It's listed as a California number but when I called back and asked for the name of their company the person told me they were a law firm and they were in Ohio.

Got one today called ID says "Florida"  no message left

Caller ID : Florida 561-214-6310. I answered and was a relative calling from SPAIN, whose number has nothing to do with the caller ID! Go figure....

Just got a call from this annoying number 561-214-6310, no message left.

I'm about 90% sure that PAETEC COMMUNICATIONS maintains an Inmate (Prisoner) calling system. There have been quite a few instances of Inmate calling systems being hacked, nationwide, and somehow allowing free international calling to 'piggyback' legitimate lines. The 'robotic' number list that contains this number seems to trace to an (apparent) oriental based group called SEO - ASIA; and a website listed as "seo - love". Quite a few times I've tried calling inward to this number and heard an oriental accented, english speaking female recorded voice asking for a PIN number input, but disconnecting immediately without giving any time to input. That group apparently markets a product call "androidicity" that has something to do with robotic calling and actually touts a feature that blocks inward calls. I've reported this crap to AT&T several times with nothing but sandbagging; claiming "No Trouble Found"; and basically refusing to forward my repeated requests to speak to their security dept about this.
   Good Luck ... be sure to call your telco service dept to report, and assure that they have logged your report ... just in the event you should receive an enormous bill ... you will have some proof that you're not resposible.

A cut off message (very bad recording) in french. All I understood was "bon jour"
definately a bogus telemarketer of some sort.

I got an automated phone offering me lower interest rate on a credit card. From the get go it sounded bogus, but I've gotten vague phone calls from a credit card company of mine in the past. So I punched 1 to hear more. A woman in a heavily accented almost unintelligible voice answered. She rambled on for a few seconds but I couldn't comprehend her. I asked for a repeat, she was no clearer the second time around. When I asked what card she was calling for, she hung up.

Bottom line- Scam

Some guy with a strong accent called my mom today, caller id showed this number.  He was trying to convince her she won 2 million dollars and wanted her address so he could deliver her the money.  My mom is 75, she hung up on him and immediately called me to tell me what happened.  Sounds like someone trying to scam the elderly.

If you read her post, you would see that she said the woman on the line claimed to be from an insurance company!

Get real, Ashley. Why would YOU call your attorney about a call you received at work, that was not regarding you? If they asked for they owner, the company likely owes a debt. I also seriously doubt that the collection agency portrayed an insurance company. The owner of the company is likely sick of the collection calls, and told you it's an insurance company.

A woman called asking to speak to the owner of the company about life insurance. The owner did not want to accept any calls of this nature, so I was told to let her know. She responded with, "Well then who will accept my call?" and I answered "Well, you need to speak with the owner right? He doesn't want to accept the call, so apparently no one will accept your call." So she responds with a very rude tone "well this is a very important call about someone's life insurance, what don't you understand about that?" and I asked her to not speak to me in that tone and she hung up. Are these people serious? I should have said "What don't YOU understand about the fact that the owner doesn't want to be bothered with your crap call!" ... but I'm a professional and the next time I receive a call from this company I WILL be contacting my attorney for harassment. That's a promise.
