IRS put out warning of scammers calling for immediate payment.  IRS will never demand payment over phone.

First of all, there is no debtors prison, so they're not going to send you to jail over a tax bill unless you owe in the millions -- at that point, you've committed tax fraud, which is a serious crime.

Someone from this number has been calling my house several times a day for the past 3 days, but they don't leave a message.  I just looked to see what kind of scam this number was attached to so I know how to respond to the a****oles when they finally catch me at home!

I got this call today glad I didn't answer it shows its from Florida.

Just received a call from this number. I didn't answer it. They left a message but I couldn't understand half of what this guy was saying due to heavy accent. He asked that I return the call. I don't think so.

GETTING THREATNING CALL , IRS HAS FILED A LAWSUIT

Got the same call from the same number.  It is a SCAM!    I am putting it under the "DO NOT CALL" List.

Just scammed my SiL for 3000 she fell for it!

The IRS only contacts you by mail. They also don't give their last name. It's usually their first name and last initial followed by their badge number.  I think these guys hacked my credit card last week. They called my house and asked my wife to confirm her name and my name.  They did not ask for money, but the next day our credit card co. Called and said our card was hacked. A 1000.00 charge in Fl.  Was put on the account.  My card company caught it and cancelled my card.
I am going to call this guy until he changes his number!

561-225-2081. Got a phone call from this number in this morning.  This loser insisted to pay him $3,500 at once otherwise police will arrest us tomorrow morning.  I hope law enforcement do something about this guy.

561-225-2081  Chris Butler claiming to be from the IRS is making highly frightening and threatening calls claiming to be from IRS and claiming that recipients of his calls could be put into jail for not paying taxes.  He is allegedly asking for personal information.  Seems to be a scam.  One can only hope that this caller will be put in jail, himself,  for at least 100 years or forever and a day.  What an idiot.

So update, After the 2nd call I reached out the phone company and they did some research and they said the number was out of Florida, and that they had been getting a lot of complaints about this type of fraud. So I went ahead and changed our phone number and had it blocked, as well as unlisted. There was a cost, but it was waived, due to the fact I could prove harassment.
So far today we have had no calls.  
Just an FYI incase anyone is interested and  of course peace of mind. Fingers crossed this will take care of those B*****DS!!

So last week I got two threatening messages from the IRS> I called them back and they had the right phone number but the wrong last name. So the "agent?" on the other end tells me not to worry, it was a mistake. Today I get a different message  from the 561 225 2081> I call them back and they tell me they (the IRS) has audited me and I owe money that I have to pay before they hang up or criminal charges will be filed? I told him to go ahead as no written notification had been sent previously. I then went on the IRS web site to see what was going on  and found that it's impossible to speak to a person!!!
Any ideas?

This a***ole is calling using different names and phone nos. Last week same person called with DC area code and a threatening message. Today it was from Florida area code.

I hope INS finds him and tosses him out on his a**. Be warned. You will eventually get caught. Stop HARASSING people.

I just got a couple of voicemails from this number. I called them back and they picked up  and ask about my phone number when i refused to do that and ask about his name and address to give it to my lawyer,he hung up on me.

He asked me the number i was calling from and looked up right away and told me that I will get arrested as there is a overdue on my tax from 4 years ago. When asked if i can get a written communication - he mentioned there will be no further communication and that I would be arrested. Total bogus.

I got this message today.  My caller ID did not have the number above on it.  It was a recording and instructed me not to ignore the call.  There were 2 calls on my voicemail.  U have 2 wait for 10 minutes to talk to someone at IRS and someone has the time to call u more than once?  SCAMMMMMMM.

I have received three calls today from 1- 561-225-2081 that I'm being sue by the IRS,  IRS don't call you, if IRS  wants to talk to you,will received a letter in the mail,

This call is just horrible......recording a man who has no p***s and gets off on worrying old people....going to everything to stop this harassment.....claims he's with the IRS and that a lawsuit has been filed....

I got this too.  Did anyone else put their phone # on the HGTV dream home giveaway?  it's the only time I put my phone # out there on the internet and now I get this crappy call the next day. Very suspicious.

Fraudulent call saying IRS is suing you call them back tell them the FBI is investigating you

IRS fraudulent call -- as MT said above, this was a recording stating the IRS filed a lawsuit against me.
