Same thing happened here.  Call but no message.

Company called and left no msg. Called back - and left a message it was a telemarketer claiming I had contacted them regarding their "on call program" I never initiated contact. SPAM

Got a call. No message was left on answering machine.

I registered with FPL last night for a duct test and home survey so maybe this is them calling to schedule appointment.  Surprised I got a call so soon.

I just got a call this morning from that same number with the "FPL" caller ID, they called once and I did not pick up. Then they called again 12 minutes later with a voice mail saying they were with Wachovia bank (who I've never banked with) and I owe a debt of $12,000 which is impossible. So what exactly should I be doing about this?

I stand corrected.  I called and confirmed with FPL this morning that it was in fact a meter reader.  All is well.

This is not actually FPL calling.  It's a scam.  Someone is trying to get your gate code if you live in a gated community, as well as trying to guage whether or not you are going to be home.  They do this by telling you they are an FPL rep needed to check you meter. Sometimes they will ask if you're going to be home.  If you get a call like this, call the police and report it.
