Unfortunately, I fell for the ad on Craigslist too.  I discovered about a week after the transaction that the USPS provides study materials for free.  Simply do what I did: contact your credit card company and dispute the charge.  The customer service representative will attempt to contact "United Work Force Corp." while you are on the line -- likely, there will be a phone number for this company posted on your credit card statement.  The customer service representative that helped me informed me that the phone number for "UWFC" posted on my credit card statement had been disconnected.  Accordingly, I was refunded the full amount, $109.99.  Regarding the study packet itself, I received it three days ago, 18 days after I ordered it.  I will be shipping it back to them -- at my expense, unfortunately.  However, I want nothing more to do with "UWFC."  If I don't return it, they will have an argument for reinstating the charge.

I had the same experience! I just find out this is totally a scam! I saw the post on CL Seattle about 2 months ago. I was so desperated to change my job at that time, so I called that number, and it sounded like an official company...then I gave them my credit card number. He told the charge was $89, but when I checked the bill online, they charged me $119. I realized something wrong with this company. I called them again and they said that was the handling and shipping fee, but they didn't tell me before they did. I was so up set about that and I knew something fishy here. I required the refund, then they asked me to mail the material back. I was so angry, you did not tell the handling fee and they shipped it to me and asked me to ship back for refund? And at that moment, I have other things to do, so I put it away till today.

Today, when I called this number again, it connected to a voice mail box which the number was 561-615-3012. I called several times and left the voice mail. I also called the "customer service department" number on the letter with the material. That number has been disconnected. So I know it is totally a SCAM!

I dont know what I can do now. I am so sacred they will use my credit card information. How stupid I am!

Ad was for USPS in Portland Oregon.

"Get started today by emailing your resume and calling 561-615-4075 Ext 685 and speak with one of our employment specialists. "

Unfortunately, I gave them my credit card # and they've already charged me my 109.99.  I called back 5 minutes after the transaction to reverse it after I googled the #.  The representative said that he'd credit back the charge.  We'll see.

Shane, I'm interested in hearing if you had anymore contact with them regarding your charge?

What a sucker I am.

I saw the add on craiglist and didn'tthink anything of it. When I called I was put on hold for 5-12 minutes. The same 2 people answer the phone when you call. I also checked the USPS website and they will send out materials when you register for the exam. The USPS does not charge for the materials. These people claim that they will send you a 400 page booklet with past exams to help you study for the exam. THIS IS A SCAM.

I reported these people to the FTC and hopefully they will be shut down.  I too called the USPS to inquire about any "cost of materials" and they said, as expected, they NEVER charge.

I did not call this number because it did not look for real.  It was listed with x655 with an instruction to speak with an "Employment Specialist."

I saw the number in an ad for mail carriers in the east San Diego County, California area on Craig's list.  I checked with USPS, and they are not presently offering the exams needed for employment in the clerical or mail carrier positions in San Diego at the moment.

I am not sure what company posted this ad, but it really looked strange to see this note in San Diego with that Area Code.  The Area Code 561 is Palm Beach, FLA, so I'm pretty sure the ad is not legitimate, and the number is used to collect information about a person.
