I answered the phone and said hello several times. No response. Who is it?

We got a call today from Allied Interstate also from someone that sounded like they are in India.  They said that my sister owed $50 for an old AOL account from several years ago.  They claimed they emailed the bill to the closed account (which makes no sense) and can't mail anything out because the bill HAS to be paid today and ordered that we give a credit card or account number.  My mom called them back and the phone was answered "hello" and my mom wanted to know what kind of company answers their phone "hello".  

She's been calling AOL trying to confirm it.  It makes no sense at all, since the account was paid for on a valid VISA in the first place and AOL was doing the billing themselves.

I get this call everydya, sometimes twice.  Once at 8:30 AM, then again at 8:30 PM, which wakes up my 5 month old.  They told me today my name, address and that I bought AOL on a Dell computer, which I have never owned.  They told me they were going to report me to the credit bureaus, and I told them to go ahead, I would deal with the credit bureaus about it direct.  The woman, in India told me that it was just a small amount, $56.00 and why would I not pay it.  I told her it was a scam and that she was working for a company who scams Americans, she did not seem to care.  I treatened to report them to the State of Florida, and she told me I could not record our conversation, I told her "I said report, not record" she still argued, that someone in my house had set up the account, no, they just do not work with you, so it is a scam.  DO NOT give them any personal information, no account numbers.  I have done a little research, and it turns out that it may be that other companies we deal with, computer, credit cards, etc. are selling these people our personal info.  I am planning on contacting the Democratic party chair for the State of Florida about this.  Someone needs to start a bill against these collection scam tactics.

I just got called from this number as well, it's a total AOL Scam.  I bought a computer and the company "Allied Interstate" is saying that I signed up for a free service and now owe 56.00.  So I asked for them to mail me information and they would not and said they are not allowed.  I asked for the contact information to AOL and they said AOL no longer has the account information and it would do no good to call AOL.  

I don't even know who to be pissed at, the manufacture of the computer I bought or AOL.  It totally sounds like a SCAM, but I am afraid of the debit going on my credit report.  Can anyone tell me what I should do?

Have been getting hang up calls daily from this number. Caller Id says Allied Interste 561-666-8505.

Over the last few days have seen this number 561-666-8508 (Allied Interstet)---they can't even spell it right!!! on my caller ID---no messages have been left.  Glad I saw the posts on this site!!!!

They call and hang up after second ring even when I answered. Has been happenning for some time now. Irritating.

keeps calling won't stop

This is a scam.  They are based in India.  They refuse to send out a bill.  When I asked for one they said I had already been sent a bill.  WRONG.  Any reputable collection agency will send you a bill.  They wanted my bank account number.  Ignore this.  I have not had AOL for three years and my account was clear.  I specifically asked AOL for a confirmation by email of my cancellation.  This company will clear out your savings account and there will be nothing you can do about it. BEWARE!!!!

Every morning at 8:26 on the dot I get a call from this company name Allied Interstate...I've called it back everyday and tell them to take my name off the calling list they told me no...its a personal matter and they can't tell me what the matter is unless I give them some info...these calls are very annoying, but hey if I need to be woken up at 8:30 I could used them as my alarm clock since the call me M-F @ 8:26, LOL.....

I have had a cell phone for five months. All of a sudden I start to get
calls from 561-666-8508, no one answers. This is getting quite
annoying. My phone company tells me that I would have to subscribe to
call blocking (more money each month) in order to stop the calls.
Is there another way to stop it?

I just got this phone today.  It is a Cricket and it will primarily be a business phone.  From the moment I turned it on this number, 1-561-666-8508 started calling, 4 times in less than 8 hours.  They have not left a message yet but the next time I will answer and tell them to cease & desist.

They called me and said I owed aol from years ago but I was out of the country durring the time they said I owed them when I asked them to mail me a bill they told me that they couldnt and I was to give them my bank info and theyd take care of everything eles. I dont think so.

Another AOL scam - I haven't used AOL since 2003 - these callers are in India and have autodialers that call even after you've already answered the phone.  I called to have them remove the number and was told the "system" will continue to call even if the number has been changed for up to 24 hours!

Got several calls from this number (CID Allied Interstate) says my name over and over then proceeds to B**** me out about I owe a debt to AOL but the last time I used aol was when I was 14 which is now 3 years ago
