My company recently registered as an LLC in the LA area, so we got a call from them immediately.  I knew from the lady's tone that she was a telemarketer and this thread verified.  She said the company name was, "The Business Consumer Alliance, formerly the BBB of south LA".  I guess this company got fired from being the BBB.  

That group in Southland BBB are clowns. Kim Burge of the Southland BBB extorted my uncle for 4k. No joke. In cash. For an A. He said it was worth it. Had he not paid Kim Burge of the Southland BBB he would still have an F. We did alot of research on this crew. They have had 6 different CEO`s over the past 20 months. We spoke to a few business owners who said a Bob Richardson screwed them big time. Funny thing is Bob Richardson was fired after only 45 days.HMMMM. Shady. The CEO before Richardson had to step down when 20/20 reveiled he made 400k a year. More than the president of the National BBB. The CEO before that had his own Debt Consolidation Company. He gave it an A. All other CA Debt companies had an F.....Beware of this group. When you Google "Kim Burge of the Southland BBB", there is accusations she is a herione addict. Herione addicts are the worst. But it makes sense. Thats why she needed 4k in cash. BBB of Southland is scandelous and Criminals. No one cares about the BBB anymore anyway. Cats out the bag on the BBB. People go to Google, ripoffreport.com or Trustlink.

Bob Richardson, Lona Luckett and Kim Burge from the Southlan BBB are corrupt. Just Google "Bob Richardson of Southland BBB" or "Lona Luckett of Southland BBB"

No other BBB is as corrupt. They were on 20/20 last year. 7 months ago they were in the news because their old owner was making 400k a year.....They gave Hamas an A+. Another great is the old owner gave his Debt Consolidation company an A and every other debt company in CA an F.

Many ex employess tell of Bribery, extortion, and drug dealing....Thats correct, Lona Luckett sells dime bags out of their office. One employee says he saw Lona Luckett stealing from another employees purse. Lona saw the employee saw her and fires her.

This group is the worst and I don`t trust any BBB opinion in LA.

i just got a call from the same number and they stated that 2 people are inquiring about my business.  When asked where they found me SHE said that they called them.  Clarifying that I might have been seen on the web or business cards.  My web & business cards are not done yet!  After find these posts on the web, I called and asked if she swears that she has names.  She believable said "yes" and that she'd give it to me if i become a member exactly as stated on this site!!!

I published my DBA in a Long Beach newspaper and wow, the following week, I get a call from the Long Beach BBB.  (my business is not in LB, by the way - just in LA County.)    Gosh, what a coincidence!!   Checking with my business contacts - this is their M.O.

Got a call from the BBB of Long Beach, she told me she received several inquiries about my business from consumers and wanted to verify information. I think she made up the story to sell a membership. She hang up before I could finish my sentence. That's not the way to do a "Better Business."

Got a call from a guy called Derek at the BBB of Long Beach.  Told me he had several calls enquiring about my business from consumers (not possible - he is lying).

People need to know that the BBB do some good, but it is a private business, that makes it's money from companies that pay them membership fees.

Their whole point of the "scam" call is to sign up members - beware!!!

They call me up with my cell number and ask for business phone number??? I google the BBB website and this number does not exist. Block this number.

same # called 4 times, first 2 said nothing on the message just wind. 3rd call wind for 30seconds then something about getting a business lead from the web... 4th call was the BBB pitch WITH LOUSY UNBELIEVABLE ACTING SKILLS.  3rd party selling subscriptions??? Wonder if the real BBB has knowledge of this, seams to discredit them.

This is the Long Beach, California office of the Better Business Bureau soliciting memberships. They are legit.  My company belongs to the BBB, and they confirmed this phone number.  Caller's name was "Sheila".
