Please report this using the information provided by Alfalfa. It is a crime to impersonate any officer of the peace, let alone a Federal one.

Called me and said warrants were issued for my arrest because of what they said was a 2008 order from an online pharmacy.   They even had some specifics that led me to believe they culling the numbers they call from some old pharmacy websites.   After a bit of threatening and me not responding the way they wanted, they said they would be out to my house to arrest me and hung up.

Just got a call from this DEA impersonator. I was not scared, as this has now happened 4-5 times in a few weeks. I now say: "please give me your badge number, and your boss and where you work. If you would like the money, please come to my office at the local police dept. (have the address memorized or written down) spout it off quickly and reiterate the badge number....Scares the bejeezers out of them. Then report the number. Be sure to tell any older family or friends about this scam. They are getting people scared to death and paying them....It is keeping them in business. So talk to people around you that might come into contact with these extortion criminals. When or if you receive a call, contact your local police and go online to: http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubs/pressreleases/extortion_scam.htm      and don't worry a minute longer.

received a call from famous officer Thomas Harrigan at the DEA in our office asking for somebody that is a manager in Corporate. I told him that she was not in our office and asked him if the business was related to our office, the person hanged up. i wonder how come that the DEA or DOJ does not have the power to investigate this and have the phone company cancel that phone number. but on the other token, you can call from one number and have another number displayed as the calling number/

There was a message on my answering machine to call this number.  Based on the above information, I will assume it is a scam.  Thankfully, I can block phone numbers.

ALERT - EXTORTION SCAM - ALERT
DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by
DEA Special Agent Impersonators
The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.

The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies.  The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine.  In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas.  If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property.  Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.

Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law.  The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.

The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet.  It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met.  And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the lnternet must be registered with DEA.  By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law.  In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat.

Got a call today from someone claiming to work for  "DEA", saying I made an illegal drug purchase from the Dominican Republic in 2008 with a credit card. And a warrant has been issued for my arrest. I asked for more info and was told the caller worked for DEA. There was a pause and the caller repeated there was a warrant for my arrest and gave me a list of numbers & letters. Then he hung up with-out saying anything else.
