I just got the same call. Its the second time this year they called me. 1-567-244-1627. Dominick. A service provider for Microsoft operating systems. He had an Indian accent. I shocked him when I told him my brother was a computer tech and was licences through Microsoft so I could by pass all the waiting. He gave me the number I listed above so my brother could call him back. He didn't sound organized at all. I ended up hanging up on him. It sounded like a scam. How do they get our numbers? I am a college student. The first time they called I told them that I go to school on line and if there was some thing wrong with my computer the university would notify me not to mention they have programs to make sure my computer is compatible with their programs. A Microsoft tech would have known that. How do I make them stop calling me...?

Just received a phone call from this number. really strong accent, may be from India or Pakistan or something. There is one thing I don't know is that how can they know my name and address and phone number? I technically moved out like 2 years ago from my bank's address, but they still know my current address. I tried my best not to piss them off. God knows what they will do with all the information above. Just simple post my info on a porn friend site can give me enough troubles.

Received a call from them today saying the same deal about my computer being messed up & sending out messages, etc. We have only MACs. I am sick with food poisoning & told the guy that when he said "how are you?" Obviously a scam, but what a jerk at an even lower level to persist when I am feeling so bad...
Hang up on them.

Same as everyone else here. Rcvd call from guy that sounded like her was from India. Said he was from Windows tech support at Microsoft . He said my computers was giving him several error reports. I could barely understand him and asked him to repeat himself and he asked aren't you having problems with your computer. I immediately hung up. SCAM!!!!! These people need to be stopped!!!

Also received a call from a man who sounded like he was from India and with broken English told me he was from Microsoft and that my computer was sending them alot of errors. The strange thing is my computer did indeed crash a few days ago but I was able to fix it today. This call however did not sound legit to me at all. I never reached out to microsoft for help. Not sure if it was purely coincidental that I got the call at a time I was having problems with my computer or if this lowlife that called me was behind the reason way my computer suddendly crashed!!!!

Have received a call from this number twice with in a week claiming something is wrong with my computer. Thankfully I hung up without giving them information, although I had been having issues right before the phone call so it was kind of freaky.

I just now received a call from this number, I didn't answer because I'm @ work. They didn't leave any kind of message; so therefore it must not have been that important.

Making their way through Alaska now I guess. I am in Anchorage and got this call 9/13/12, didn't answer it as I didn't recognize the number and we don't know anyone in Toledo, saved it though to check it out later and found this site, thanks for the info and glad I didn't answer!

I love you're adjectives in providing suitable names for them. Piss Ants seemed a perfect name for the scum of scams hidden in their cowardly little cubbie holes. LOL :)

Got a call from these jerks. Told me that I had the same problems with my computer and practically Ordered me to go to my computer and follow his instructions, all in one continuous sentence. I guess he figured that it would keep me from having time to think or react. Butt Head..... piss ants. (For lack of better way to describe these thieves) As I started to tell him off, he just hung up the phone. I imagine he was already on the phone trying to scam the next person before I put my phone down. Sounded like he was from India. Doesn't make any difference, these types of scammers are nothing but low life maggots regardless of where they're from. Thank all of you for the heads up.

Don, you are absolutely right. This scam has been going on since about 2008. It comes and goes and then returns. Microsoft has issued more than one warning about this scam and how the scammers work. It appears that they target English speaking countries and have pretty much made the rounds through the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the US. Their Call centre is located in Kolkata, India as well as other possible Indial locations. Best advise is not to even give them the dignity of talking with them. Their success rate is low but apparently good enough for them to keep at it. I hope that more people come to this site as well as create others to warn everyone about these people. I hate to say it but many people are just too trusting in todays world.
Best to everyone......

Got a call about an hour ago from this guy with a really strong accent. I'm not sure what kind it was but if I were to guess, I would say Pakistani or in that part of the world. I couldn't hardly understand him, but he repeated and said he was calling to help me fix problems with my computer. (I'm still not clear how or why he thought I had problems) He quickly instructed me to go to my computer so that he could fix it for me.
(of course, I smelled a scam immediately). I simply said "Computer? I don't Own a computer!!"
He politely said sorry to have bothered you and hung up. I read or heard about this scam somewhere just recently. Regardless, anytime someone calls me from a hidden or bogus caller ID number or name, I figure he is hiding for some reason. I would never even talk to an unknown who called me on the phone wanting to get into my business (especially if he/she has any kind of accent). They can send me a letter. Anything worth dealing with can wait for a letter and time to verify.....be careful and watchful of the scam trash out there. They will try anything.

For Gosh sakes Folks.....This is a scam!!! Don't fall something so simple minded and stupid as these thieves This scam made our local TV news months ago. Their objective is bluff you into letting them get into your computer by putting their program and malware in for the purpose of retrieving information. They will try to get you to pay with a Credit/debit card so they can get your acct number. Don't even talk to them...your're going to lose, and if you are simple minded enough to fall for this scam, you should get scammed.
These low lifes prey on the stupid....and as long as they get results, they will continue. Hang up on them...
Read some of the replies on this board that talk about how these wonderful people helped them. Notice the terms and how they are written. "Well Wisher" "Charles Xavier"......Now who do you believe wrote these???
They're trying to put a little lipstick on the pig.....Hang up on them....

My suggestion to you tamara powel (usually spelled Powell in the usa) is that you contact a local authorized computer tech, who is well known and trusted in your community, to come in and re-format your hard drive and re-install your OS and those programs that came with your computer. You've been had....
| DC 2012-07-24 17:19:12 Unknown |
Yeah right...ADWIN. your post trying to get people to believe your scam crap smacks of tha foreign accent that I just heard on the phone trying to dupe me. The terminology
you're using to convince others that it's on the up and up is almost funny....

Indian man saying he was from Microsoft and that my mom's computer was sending them error reports. Thankfully she left her laptop at work, but the man kept trying to get her to access it. She wanted to have the man call tomorrow and speak with her IT people at work, but the man was extremely hesitant. He eventually gave her this number. She does not have caller ID, but I'm assuming this is the same number he called from. After hearing this story, I immediately knew it was fraudulent. Microsoft will NEVER call unless you have initially filed a ticket with them.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Adam Smith called said he was technician from microsoft. Same story as above but I was stupid and gave him access to my computer. He wanted my debit card number for a software program to fix all my computer problems. He even offered to set up a paypal account for me. I said I was suspicious and told him I would call him back today. I didnt. Same phone number came up today so I didnt answer it. The number is from Norwalk, Ohio. He also told me I didnt need Norton anti virus. Yeah right. I am reporting this to the FBI.
