A lady with a strong foreign accent left a VM (two days in a raw) saying there is "legal action" against me filed and that I must call back atback at 567-244-4140.  Called the number and got no answer.  Happened in Columbus Ohio on 2/15 & 2/16.

Some foreign man called my phone. Keeps calling states that I must call them back and that he is with the Us Dept Of Treasury. The treasury dept would never call people back to back three times leaving voice mail stating if you don't call them back you will be arrested. These people are idiots.

I just received a call from a guy named Russell Reed at 567 244 4140 stating he was from the I.R.S. Treasury and wanted to know where my husband was.  He then got aggressive and stated he was calling due to a federal criminal investigation due to my husband not paying his taxes.  I asked for his information and he said look at my caller ID.  He asked me who I was and I did not answer.  He verified my address and phone number, this is too freaky!  Did not know who I was though.  Beware!

Left long message on my answering machine. Something about a legal issue, difficult to understand due to foreign accent and very fast speech. Ignored message and blocked the number.

Got a call from this number, answered phone no one there - this happened 5 times within a few minutes on the 4th call from the same number I let the machine pick it up.  I was not able to make out what the woman was saying mostly due to a very thick accent.  I gathered that it was very important that I call back, and there was something said about my attorney calling or not - couldn't quite make it out.  I will not be calling them back and wanted to be sure to post something so that others would know that this was a very weird call in deed!

I received a message from Jennifer White that I needed to call back this number due to legal actions that were being taken against me. She had a very thick accent. I called the number back and a man answered (with a thick accent) saying he could help me and that there were back taxes that I did not pay. I told him that was untrue and continued to tell him to not call my number again and he hung up. A few minutes later Jennifer White called me back saying I needed to call this number and speak to Russ Reed. She was very insistent that I call him because someone is filing a law suit against me. I told her the same thing...don't call this number again. They claim to be with Legal Affairs and part of the us gov. This call was received in New York approx. 10:30am  on  02/10/14

Don't call back this number, i heard on the radio some how the phone number get charged if you dial back .

I got a call form a person name James Russell stating I violated code  CP 03 and the governament plans to arrest me for not paying taxes.  I told him I pay every year and I did not know what he was talking about.  He said he was sending the detectives to arrest me within the hour.

Rec'd a message saying there is "legal action" against me filed and that i must speak to Russel Brown.  I own a company and have attorney's on staff - so if there is i'd be served or my company would be.  The accent was Indian from what I could discern.  

Got phone call twice from this number, I did not call them back. I heard on the Radio some scam is going around when you call them back your phone # get a charge 20 some bucks.

I received a phone message from the same thick accented "James Brown or Frown" who said he was calling from the US Treasury with a legal claim and "trouble" for me if I did not call back with an attorney present.  "Have a best day and God Bless You!! " was the tip-off for me  to put in this number on Google to get information.
What could they possibly want and/or try to get from me besides utter disgust??
Hope no one even tries to call Mr Brown back!!

Same thing happened here in Va.  James Brown with a deep accent, threatened me with legal action if I did not call the number back.
I asked to speak to the person I was to call back, Brown said he was to busy to call me back and I would have to call him.  Had a heated argument with this dude Brown, finally hung up on him.  

It's happening in san antonio, tx too. They said contact BBB and/or try and contact the company they say they're with.

The caller identified himself as "James Brown, from the Department of Legal Affairs at U.S. Treasury." He spoke with an accent that made it somewhat difficult to understand him. However, I was able to discern that he was making a veiled threat about the consequences of not calling him back at 567-244-4140. I immediately tried to get someone at the U.S. Treasury on the phone but to no avail. I then left a complaint on their website. Misidentifying oneself as an officer of the Treasury Dept. is probably a federal crime, or should be. I hope they track him down and and throw him in the pokey.
