Received a call from 713-370-7392 stating that my husband owed money and he or his lawyer needed to contact them immediately or a summons would be sent. I talked to a lawyer. Its an offshore scam. He said his name was Tom Cosby yeah right with a think Indian accent. I don't think so.

Have been receiving harassing phone calls from American Credit Legal Services aka ACLS with a Texas area code. Person who called my cell phone identifies himself as Michael Mills. He has broken English and heavy Asian accent. Claims another person wants to sue me but can not explain why and I need to be transferred to his "Senior Attorney." Also inquires if I too have an attorney of which I answered "no." He did ask for my social security number of which I did not give. I found these harassing phone calls quite odd seeing how I have not done anything for anyone to want to sue me. No car accidents, I keep to myself, my boyfriend pays all our bills/credit cards on time, I don't work, so why would I be getting sued? Not to mention I DON'T have anything, so it is not like that "other person" would get money from me. I called back after googling American Credit Legal Services and got a different person on the line, this time a female. I did not catch her name. None the less, when they do call back I will tell them to take their SCAM back to where they came from!!!!!

They are both already subject to permanent injunctions.
This is ridiculous. Contact FTC.

FTC Charges Marketers with Making Unsubstantiated Claims that They Could Eliminate Consumers' Debt
As part of its continuing crackdown on scams that target consumers in financial distress, the Federal Trade Commission has charged three debt relief operations with making unsubstantiated claims to lure consumers nationwide into paying thousands of dollars in up-front fees, but failing to reduce credit card debts as promised.
According to the FTC?s two complaints, the defendants made deceptive claims that consumers who enrolled in their programs could eliminate 30 to 60 percent of their credit card debt and be out of debt in 18 to 36 months. The defendants marketed their services via websites and TV and radio ads that urged consumers to call toll-free numbers for a free consultation and to enroll in their debt relief programs. One operation claimed to use ?secret programs most credit card companies won?t tell you about.? The other operation touted its ?established relationships? with creditors and claimed that its program would ?save you literally thousands of dollars.? The defendants charged consumers up-front administrative fees, monthly maintenance fees, negotiation fees, and in some instances, a cancellation fee.

The company behind this number calls regarding lowering credit card interest.
This has to be stopped. The woman I spoke with, was extremely rude.
| JamesA 2011-06-06 20:51:42 Unknown |
It's a fraud company. Called a couple times now when I nicely say hi and ask what company they are from they hang up. They know what they're doing is illegal (very illegal) that's why it comes up as a wireless too. It's quite clear it isn't wireless it's a call center)

I get these calls all the time, and today from that number. I got a sleasy broad on the phone and let her know what I thought of her with words I never use. So let's give them some choice words, it will help make their day. It sure helps me release some stress. Try it, you'll like it!
By the way, there is no "Mastercard" or "Visa". They are just an interchange, like a network, which all the banks use to facilitate transactions. They are both in the same building in Virginia. They do not manage credit cards, they do not solicit customers. All customer business is handled exclusively by the banks that issue the cards. You could not get Visa or Mastercard on the phone if you tried.

I think it's the same company doing this, they just change the AUTODIALER message. The only autodialer calls I get are, Rachael (reduce interest rates) and Calypso Cay "Won an all inclusive cruise to the Caribbean" [Press 9] to collect.
