they're not - according to fair credit laws - whatever - if a collection agency speaks to a person -regardless if they hung up on them or not - they cannot by law call back for 7 days... so that b***s*** of calling back because someone hung up on them -ha- they can't call back... and they can only leave 1 message a day on your machine -

Keeps calling wont listen yells over me and implies that I am lieing about my living situation and always hangs up on me

They aren't allowed to make threats to you.  You can do what I did....call the state police, give the police officer the phone number of the caller and tell the officer you were threatened.  The police officer will then call the collector and tell him not to contact you again via telephone!  It works!  I did it!  If I owe someone money, I don't mind talking to them to try to get the debt straightened out, but these people were mean, condescending and threatening.  You have the power to  make them stop!!!!

called on my day off and woke me and 2 kids up. They aren't even calling for me. They are calling for me to give my neighbor across the street a message with their phone number!! Come on already! The collection agency lives 5 minutes away. Why are they calling me? Get off your lazy butts and drive over to look for the guy. I'm not doing your work for you!

I got a call from this number the other day, I dialed *67 before the number so I can call back and no answer, it just rang repeatedly. I never call back numbers that I don't know, but something told me to call this one back. It's gotta be a hoax of some kind. Someone has got to be playing games. If it's a collections agency, then fine I'll deal with them because my ex and I use to live together and he gave MY CELL number to everyone (damn jerk!!) so the call is probably for him seeing as his reputation, attitude, and credit is all s***! A man has called repeatly (6 to 10 times) from this number leaving messages for a tenant in our rental property.   He refused to identify himself or his company when I answered the phone. I have him asked to call the tenant directly and to stop leaving messages on our phone.

Is it legal to continual call someone's landlord in order to collect a debt???  Why can't he just call/ sent information directly to my tenant?  This doesn't seem right.

My neighbor that lives on the same street as I do came to my house and gave me a number that someone named Stephanie Smith was trying to reach my son. I looked up the number she left and it was National Bond & Collection Associates located at 210 Division Street in Kingston PA. I called the number and asked for Stephanie and a man asked if he could be any help. I asked do you normally bother people who live on the same street as the one you are looking for?He said since my son hasn't replied to his mail being sent to this address it is their practice to do this. I asked for a manager (which I think it was the same person that answered the phone)I told him the story and he was just as bad (if it was the manager)I told him I am calling the Better Business Bureau and he said Have a Nice Day Mam. These people are unbelieveable.

She said her name was April Williams and that it was important I return her call.

These shysters call my cell phone every couple of days asking for my 8 year old granddaughter. They used several numbers, 570 287-5315 and 570 283-5409 among them. I am on the do not call list, they don't care, are very nasty and obnoxious. Scary even, considering they are demanding to speak to a little girl and won't identify themselves or their business. I reported them to the PA attorney general's office.

Received call 6/23/09 stating "we have business matter to discuss". Name, Mark. No business name, no reason for call.

I have been receiving calls from NBCA for my son.  He's 22 and moved out over 6 months ago, when they call I inform them he doesn't live here anymore.  They are very nasty stating that his license still shows my address and hasn't been changed.  I told them he's 22, it's not my fault he hasn't changed his address on his license, and besides he does get mail here and I give it to him, but nothing from them. I told them to remove MY PHONE NUMBER from his file. I'm tired of the calls every couple days or numerous calls left on the voicemail. They told me they will continue to call my house until he takes care of whatever issue he has with them, which by the way they won't tell me, they wouldn't even tell me the name of the company. They said it's a personal matter and by telling the name of the company I'd known why they are calling. After the rep hung up on me I called back and asked to speak to a Manager...well he was just as bad and told me basically the same thing that they'll continue to call and if I don't stop calling them complaining they would press harassment charges against me. CAN YOU BELIEVE THE NERVE OF THAT GUY?!?!?

I will be reporting them to Verizon and little to they know I have call block and I'm blocking their number so far 570 283 5409 is the only one they call from but if they call from another I'll just keep blocking them too!!!!
Good Luck to anyone who has to deal with these people, I know they are trying to get bills paid but they are going about it the wrong way. I did collections for 3 years and NEVER operated like these people if I did I would have been fired immediately

This woman calls asking for my youngest brother who is only 17 yrs old an guess what he's in school at this hour which the call occurred at 12:52pm eastern time. She then proceeded to request my parents when i told her that this is his older sister in which i am a parental guardian of his in case of emergencies an what not an she wanted none of what i had to say an proceeded to tell me i needed to take sown a message an give it to my parents an as i do with many tellemarketing calls i pretend to write the crap they say down an pretend to tell my parents about the call because they really don't care to hear about it at all because they know its all bs...

They just called and my mother hung up because they pronounced my name wrong which really really makes her angry. We hit *69 and got 283-5409.
But I was just curious as to who it was because it was a local number and a reverse phone look up did not show anything. This website really helped. Thank you. The call type and company listed by me is just from the other posts here.

They can actually talk to you however they like, in fact the collectors that are the nastiest talkers make the most money. I know because I worked in this field for about three months, one of which was training. And I was also a telemarketer for 10 years. Although I they could talk to you however they like there are stipulations and rules. They must never Threaten you in any way or curse or threaten law suits.
Now your call would be a threat and a very scary one as well. I would definitely report this to not only the company but the fcc and the local police if need be. This is serious. Also the caller should have said his name (which by the way) it's not his real name because they don't want people to react to their nastiness.

Called and asked for "jarret" upon tellin them they must have the wrong number a man quickly said in a angry tone of voice "NO i dont" i insisted he did explainin it was only me, my fiance, and my son that lived here, none of which were named "jarret". He said i was in fact lying that he had just talked to jarret at this residence within the last 10 min and he hung up on him. again i told him i was sorry but he was mistaking, with that he said exactly "THATS FINE KEEP PLAYING GAMES, however miss, i will be sending someone to your home shortly to check this out..."
