HARASSMENT!

Over the past six months, I have received countless calls from this, and other numbers (often from 888-248-2509) and usually do not answer because I do not know who it is. I have gotten calls as late as 11:00 pm and as early as 6 am. I almost never answer it because I do not want the hassle. I usually do receive voicemails, all nondescript and cut off, but I can always make out the part that says "Sally Mae about your account please call us back at..." Finally, I gave them a call- I am still in school and my measly $500 loan is not in collections. They were unable to pull up an account so I asked the lady to remove my number from the call list and she agreed. I continued to receive calls, usually at inconvenient times so I did not answer. They became Very frequent- up to 12 calls per day, from one number or the other. I finally was able to answer (though again, inconveniently because I was driving) and they asked if it was my brother! I told them I was his sister and was not in contact with him and not to contact me any more. Again the calls continued. Today, I received 3 missed calls from the number (before 12 pm!) and finally caught them on the fourth call just before 2. My tone came off a little rude but I tried to be polite in spite of the harassment. She asked again to speak to my brother and I said, "That is my brother, I am not in contact with him. I have received at the very least, 5 calls a day from this agency and have requested Numerous times that my number be removed from the call list." She retorted hatefully, "Well maybe you should tell your brother to stop giving your number out". (Um, Hello, I just told you I am not in contact with him! I thought). Instead I replied, "I HAVE!" and hung up on her. Less than 10 mins later I receive ANOTHER call, from a hateful, but more professional woman who starts off with "This call will be recorded" (it was a live person saying this, not the usual recording). "Is (Brother) there?" She asks. At this point I took a irritated but whatever tone, "No, he does not live here. I am not in contact with him. I have asked multiple times that you do not contact this number" She replies, "Well do you have an alternate phone number for him?" And I'm thinking no way in hell am I giving you his number so you can harass him too! "His phone is currently disconnected." I replied. "Can I leave a message?", she asks. "I AM NO LONGER IN CONTACT WITH HIM.DO NOT CONTACT THIS NUMBER AGAIN", I repeated. She thanked me and hung up. I'll give it an hour or two- they'll call back.

A girl called this morning at 8 a.m. asked for my boyfriend Ryan (no last name mentioned). She did not verify who she was.  She was told "Ryan was not here", and she hung up. I called back 20 minutes later, it rings and rings and rings, then someone picks up the phone (does not say hello, dont say anything) and just listens.  Then I said hello and a guy who you can tell just woke up, says hello (in a scratchy, morning voice)...."I said you just called for ryan who is this", and he says "No, wrong number and hangs up".  STRANGE (isnt it)?????

We get a call from 570-855=6039.  The person calls us everyday and make a abusing sound to disable and hurt our hearing buy making a strong beeping noise.

I believe that it is Sally Mae also. They call me six to eight times a day. By law they are only allowed to call u twice a day...once in the am and once in the pm. They call me every hour and sometimes even every half an hour. They never leave a message or anything, but they annoy and harrass me every day without exception. So...I've blocked their number and now my life is somewhat peacefull again. Well almost peaceful...I still have my children...there is no block for them. lol

They call me constantly everyday. I have never had a Sallie Mae student loan, or whatever. I have never even heard of them until I looked the number up. I have no idea how to get them to stop calling me unless I report it to the police for harrassment.

They just called my job but there was no one there - like a broken autodialer - 8/2/10 2:29 Pacific Time.

This is a Sallie Mae number however when you call back and talk to the rude people who answer they tell you that the number is from the Federal Education "side" through Sallie Mae.  No matter how much you try to get a clear understanding where your money is going (to Sallie Mae) they swear they are not getting their cut and ask for more.  I consolidated my loans and I still get harassing calls from these jerks!

I have called 3 times to make a payment and set up a payment plan because I defaulted like an idiot.  They claim they will work with you but everytime I try to set something up they try to extort an insane amount of money from me.  I called to pay $300 one day and they wouldnt take any less than $2400.  How do they expect us to pay if we still dont have a decent job after college.  School is the biggest mistake of my life

im having the same problems and my student loans where kinda the same thing they werent due for awhile. but if i remeber correctly they still called before my payment date. there a***oles in my oppinion they have harrased myself and my wife now for years. i would love to find away to get them to stop since they dont really care about what time they call. heck i just received 3 calls this morning and it wasnt even past 9:00am

I have been receiving phone calls from this number. I don't know who it is because they never leave a message. I see that some believe that this is Sallie Mae. If so, according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act... they are suppose to identify themselves when calling nor are they suppose to call in such a harrassing manner. There is also a time frame that they are allow to call according to laws. After 8:30pm is not permitted nor on weekends.

I don't pick up numbers that I'm not familiar with that why I have a voice messaging system.

It would be unbelieveable if it is Sallie Mae because my school loan isn't due until March 2011 so I'm skeptical.
