Stumbled across this while trying to find a solution or at a minimum an explanation of the NON STOP calls from multiple numbers claiming to represent Google. The are always stating that we need to update our business listing, along with some quick sales pitch.

Is there not anything one can do to make it stop besides blocking all the numbers each time they call?

The number that just called a minute ago was (843) 731-0245 which I punched into a reverse directory and it said "Sprint Nextel Mobile in Florence, SC"

Call answered with a recording about "President Obama mortgage modification program", press 1 to be connected, press 9 to be removed. I was curious if there was a new program, so I pressed 1. I got to the operator, who answered as if they didn't know why I was on the phone. I mentioned the Mortgage modification program, so the operator said. "You need to get connected with an agent" Is this the best # to reach you (didn't read it back) I said yes.

Thinking I should block the number.

Something curious, maybe a fluke, but I have recently converted by home line to a google voice number. Wonder if there is a connection with the Google listing scams listed above.

Called at 1:12 pm 7/9/13 from LOCAL RANK INC. about "updating our mortgage under the Obama Plan" - nothing to do w/ Google on the voicemail they left.  I think i will forward their voicemail to (who can we contact to report these sort of numbers, the FCC?)  i'll check that out too, we need to band together against robbers like this - they must make SOME money off old peole or something to be able to cont donig this crap...

This number called today but since I did not recognize name "Local Rank Inc." or the number, it went by default to voice mail where they chose to NOT leave a message.  No surprises there; whatever they want or selling they will not even get a friendly "hello" from me let alone one thin dime.  Interesting pasttime they have, annoying people and not getting anything in return.

they call frequently at my busy cafe and always at the busiest time of day. wish i could reach through the phone and strangle them! if you ask them any questions about who they are, they tend to hang up which pisses me off even more. don't talk to them!!

Called my line. Didn't answer it but they left no message. How annoying!

An automated message from this number was left on my voicemail.  The beginning was cut off; the end said "press 9 to be removed from the list; again, press 1 to verify and update your Google listing."  Google listing?  Obviously not legit.

This needs to end and now - when is the phone companies going to be forced to block phone service to these incessant spamming rats.

This number calls my business every day. No messages left when I don't answer. If I do answer it is a "verified by Google" SEO reseller. Note to everyone: if you have a gmail account or have listed your business on Google maps, you are also "verified by Google." Very rude if you tell them you are not interested.

Our records show that this number belongs to snake oil salesmen.

my phone id said  local brand an the number is 1-570-983-2218 and called me on 6/4/13 today...themessage says to up date google info.. on my recorder...

They call and leave a message about nupdating our google listing...when we call them ans ask to whom we are dsoeaking, they hang up.

I am on the no call list.

they called me today,  same deal as everyone else. wish there was something we could actually do about this type of thing besides reporting the number (which is obviously ineffective) and having to pay extra for a phone that can block this BS

you realize this isn't actually google, it's a scam telemarketer pretending to be google because people will think it's important.

Lordy - these robo callers are busy!!!

They called again but my Digitone Blocker stopped them - without even a ring!

I now have the entire 570 area code blocked along with 14 other area codes and assorted phone numbers.  The Digitone Call Blocker is on our office phones.  

On my home line, I now have the NEW Panasonic phone that blocks 250 numbers.

These scammers also go by the name of LR2Services

illegal phishing call claiming to be updating listings for google. Not actually from google, just scammers posing as it.

Got yet another call from them today! I am so sick of this f'ing BS company calling me. I've reported it. I've put my number on the DNC list. There are 4 pages of complaints here!  What is the deal?!?!?

Caller ID said Local Rank Inc.  Rank indeed.  Got a copy of the robocall to my voice mail.  I send it to the feds as proof of their rankness.  Honest Person is correct, all these robocall, boiler room calling scammers need to be classified as domestic terrorists and thrown in jail.  Better yet, send them to Cuba.

Yup, get calls from this number daily around lunchtime MST.  No voicemails and I always miss the call but I will not be answering it for sure now!

God I pray that someday I will be allowed to hunt these people and keep them from sleeping just like they do to me.

That is the WORST thing you could have done. I bet they call the piss out of you now. You proved there was a human answering the phone and dumb enough to call them so they know you are pliable. Bad move! If you have the option just block them and get over it. Unless you pester your local representatives in our useless congress to do something we will be stuck with this crap.
