Electric company from ma

So sick of these calls.  It annoys me to hear the phone ring before answering machine picks up, so now I just hit "talk" and lay the phone face down until I hear a fast busy signal.

These people have been calling for the last month  I asked them not to call and they still insist on calling.I am reporting them to the FCC do not call list  

I would not call this number back, I believe that is part of this scam. I hate these phone calls with "dead air", they are becoming more frequent.

caller id says energy service.  no message left!  Today must be the day for all spammers!  This is the 4th number that I've had to block!

Calls me all the time, no message. I call back and phone # un reachable.

No message and in the evening like I Want to be bothered with something after 6 pm.

Got a call at 6:30 pm on my cell phone. Only 4 people have my cell phone # and CERTAINLY these people are not one of them. My cell phone plan charges 99 cents if I use the cell phone that day and then 10 cents /minute. I called them back and got a recording but I used my home phone number and there is not an option to put another phone number or to speak to a "live" person. I want this to stop and this is at least 3 times they have called my cell.

This call came to me two days in a row-- an offer to lower my electric bill from PPL Electric (SouthEast Pennsylvania).  I asked the operator to not call me again (I was not interested in hearing about energy cost options) after the first time, then the call came again on the next day.

570-983-3178 is more likely to do with an Energy switch promotion/scam/ whatever because -

These two numbers are also similar from the PA area. I really doubt they would legitimately take your number off a list. Answering and verifying your number only made it profitable to sell to someone else.

We get these calls because:

I read an article in the paper in February 2014 that basically says anyone in Pennsylvania who has switched electric providers will get these calls from other companies until, and if whenever the Electric providers are deregulated. Doesn't matter who your provider is they have to give out your number. There may be a way in writing to stop it, but if you didn't do it right away you are stuck getting these calls. The whole idea was to let other power companies try and divide the monopoly of one or two big companies. But it backfired because of two things. One) most folks didn't want to switch and Two) Those companies trying to sway you just are not polite. There is a difference between dead air calls or telemarketers telling you that you are a twit if you don't switch to them or asking you politely how they can better your electric rate. It seems most of the hired hands would rather be rude. I don't see them having great success with that tactic. And I don't know other than reporting the number how to stop them. Since they don't clearly identify themselves. Coming up in Caller ID like this latest number will not get me to answer the phone.

Said they are from PP&L (Electric Co.) Scammers trying to get you to switch electric companies, but really fishing for information to scam you from outside the US. My number is also on the do-not-call but that only applies to people calling from inside the US.
I hit 0 to talk to someone and they answered. I asked to be taken off their call list and he said OK, verified my phone number (which they already had) and said it was done. We'll see, not holding my breath.

They are calling from outside the US where the do not call cannot stop them.

apparently the do not call list is a joke. I get as many calls if not more than before I enrolled for this, I guess federal program. it really is a joke.

Got call tonight at 7 PM. Wife answered, said it was PP&L, I told to hang up.

Called twice, no message.

Called and left no message.  Stop calling me!  I just went and re-registered my cell on the do not call list just in case the original listing expired.

Typo apology, touchscreen on my phone went a little crazy.

Calling my teen daughter's cell. What would this have. To do with. SALLIE MAE..sheesh...legitimate collections are that legitimate.  Maria..smh.  Went leave message, called back, recording press 1 for DNC list.  HOWEVER local news just did a story on scammers and bc said as rebooting as it is to call back and press that number don't because it confirms your number.  I don't understand  specifics and used daughter's cell they called because she doesn't do financial transactions on it and doesn't answer unknown calls at all.  Our news said spoofingyat all time high. If you don't injure number let it go. If you have voicemail and it is legit they will leave info, even then be suspicious and never give identifying info over phone or confirm.  scammers.

Recording asking if want reduction on electric bill hold for operator.....

I called the phone number back and I got a recorded message. It said if I would like to be placed on a "do not call" list I could press one and within 48 hrs I'd be removed from their calling list- Still don't know who it was, but at least they won't be calling me any more.

Just received call on my cell. No message left and I don't owe money to Sallie Mae....
