I am 67 years old and have never had a student loan-ever!  They ask for Jessica on their voice mails. There is no one by that name here. I am sick of it.

They called my cell phone a few days ago for someone named Shanice something (could barely understand it) and left a message that mentioned Sallie Mae but I could tell they weren't from Sallie Mae because it wasn't actually directed as a Sallie Mae call. I figured it was a solicitation or a scam. Now today they called and I answered and again she asked for "Shanice Brown". I informed her she had the wrong number. Will see if I continue to get calls from them.

Sallie Mae dept. of Education has been calling me for weeks now. This is one of the numbers they call from. They have the wrong number. I'm not the person they're looking for and I told them this. TWICE I've been told my number was being removed from their records and I'm still getting calls. I don't know what to do about this but it's getting very frustrating. I've gotten at least ten calls and four voicemails from these damn people.

Thank you - you saved me a ton of typing.  As for the boo hoo on the jobs available - when I was 20, and saw the pathetic jobs available in my state, I MOVED 1/2 way across the country.  Moved again just recently too, to an area everyone SWORE I'd never find work in, had a HORRIBLE economy... I make a dang good wage, AND every job I've had for over 18 years has "required a bachelor degree" - I have none, just work experience & the ability to land a job with an interview.  Guess some kids just can't figure out that you're only owed what YOU earn, the rest of the world owes you exactly NOTHING!

Called my cell today. I have NO loans, so it's clearly not for that.  Haven't listened the 10-second message that was left (my cell shows me the length). Another legal site shows the # as being owned by 'DEPT OF ED SM'.

I got calls from this number and all these 317-595-1242, 317-595-1244, 800-722-1300, 877-501-7461, 585-237-7878, 570-991-4402, 877-830-7667, 765-283-3406. They are all Sallie Mae.  They call everyday multiple times a day, there is NO SAFE time from them.  I do have loans, but as soon as I can extract blood from a turnip and safely use it in humans, I will be able to pay off my loans.  The thing is I am unable to pay my loans right now, and hopefully will be in a position to get them OFF my BACK soon. So as far as I am concerned they can sit and rotate until then.

I get calls from this number every few hours, I can't even guess how many times a day. I do have a loan with Sallie Mae that I'm behind on paying (just don't have the money and apparently make too much to defer it, which I don't).. but the other harassing numbers that call about it leave messages, this one never does. I've never answered and I'm strongly considering changing my number because of these calls.

well if it is a debt collector, they are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection laws, by calling early in the morning, late at night, on the weekends and even calling and hanging up. My advice to all that have been contacted by this #, contact an attorney and look into your's state's Fair Debt Collecting Laws and also check out the Federal laws. You can turn the tables and sue them, there be your money.570991440

We are receiving phone calls at our place of business from 570-991-4402 up to 4 times a day.  This is a business phone and we do NOT wish to have any further calls from this number!!  If they cannot state what the call is about or leave a message, then leave our business alone!!  Nothing worse than when you're in the middle of something that needs a meeting of a deadline, to drop what you're doing to answer the phone and have nothing on the other end!!!  Please stop this harrassing!!!

Got a call from these people twice looking for someone who apparently owned my phone number before me.  I called them back at the number on my caller ID, NOT the number they left on the voicemail as I'm sure that would have led me to an automated machine.  The lady that asnwered was able to look up the account based off MY phone number and remove it from this other person's account.  She assured me they would not call back again.  We will see.  Apparently they don't listen to the name on the voicemail before they record the message.  STUPID!

These jerks call over and over.  When given enough information to put your phone number on their "Do Not Contact" list they do not retain, or act on the information and call over and over and over.  I have lodged a Coporation Commission complaint in my state against them.

Or, the economy is in the crapper because of our entitlement society and anyone that actually did intend to pay off the loans, can't, because they can't get hired at a time when wages and jobs are being cut because of Obamacare taxation kicking in.

It could also be that some of us are over 35 and don't fit into any of the protected sttus hiring quotas.

Either way; whomever is making these calls, is acting in an utterly unprofessional manner.  I do not EVER call back to someone that cannot make a clear, concise message on my phone.  That cute little speed mumble technique will get you nowhere with the likes of me.

your manner is shady...period.

I agree Amon.  If you borrowed money you need to pay it back no matter what you feel your degree did or didn't do for you.  What a loser.

Clearly you are not the type of person to repay their debt.  Bet you use money on other things like eating out, cable, cell phone, etc.  If you borrow money from someone or some company you pay it back.  Shouldve thought about future debt when you decided to take the loans out for school.  Whether or not your degree helps you or doesn't isn't in question.  So which are you...

A) 20's or 30's and think the world owes you something
B) Lazy and can't work 2 jobs to pay your debt that you clearly have
C) Intellectually disabled and all of us should be sorry for you
D) Employed at a worthless job because you didn't take care of your debt
E) Not willing to do what it takes (working every waking moment) to restore order in your life and take care of your financial screw ups.

Whatever it is, you are one sad person and probably the reason the rest of us have to work our butts off to prove we can do what it takes.  A Degree is not a guarantee of anything, it only helps fulfill skills and requirements for a job.  Obviously you don't have the remaining skills or can do attitude necessary to get the better paying job.
