Checked out the number they left for call back.  It is not a real number for a sallie mae program based on information from other sites.   If you get a call from this number and then a message for  call back to 877-931-7676 you are being scammed.
First they  get you to call back then they have you .....avoid  calling at all cost. They use fictitious names for references unknown to you to entice you to call back.

Called my cell phone - heard my vm message and did not leave any message.  I deleted it.  If it wasn't important enough to leave a message - it wasn't important enough.
BTW - in my reverse lookup search - the number supposedly comes from Wilkes-Barre Pa and is listed as a landline.

They call a few times a day. I do have a loan through Sallie Mae and was concerned that maybe I had missed a payment. I looked at my account online and it is up to date. I'm not sure why else they would be calling. Maybe it is a scam.

I got a call from this number but they hung up immediately.

Just called me.  Told them had the wrong number, and hung up.  Immediately following the hang up, received 15 text messages about consolidating my debt.

A Guy from Sallie Mae called looking for someone I do not know. We had almost the same name. He was really polite and when I told him I didn't know who he was looking for he apologized profusely and said he was taking me off his list right that minute. They're just calling to find people who skipped out on a student loan. He had my cell phone number - I've only had it for 2 years so if someone used it as a reference 4-5 years ago, I get it. He was nice and didn't do more than any other debt collector.

just got a call out of the blue from a student loan that is over 30 yrs old and was supposed to be taken care of by my ex in a divorce.  Now they are garnishing wages, havent heard from them in 30 yrs.  What will the national guard come storm troop me next for not being able to pay it?  Thought this was America.

Someone called from this number and said they could help with my college loans last week. I was supposed to have gotten a call later that week because I was busy but never did. I called this morning and spoke with Danielle Ext: F832. I told her I would have to call her back. I've called three times already. The first time I was left on hold for five minutes because they didn't know there was a Danielle, the second the line was cut off before anyone answered, and the third I was able to get directed to Danielle and speak with her again. The whole thing seems legit BUT I will still call the 1-800-722-1300 that I have in my statements just to be on the safe side. She was able to give me the Fax number, and the address to where I would have to send any other paperwork. And they seem to match what I have. I'm still not 100% confident about but the office number 1-800 number is closed until Monday. So I'll have to wait to call and verify all the information that i received. I will update as soon as it happens.

Didn't catch the company name, but they were asking for -insert name here- and said I had been ref'd for Student loans or somesuch. They left a different return number, and said the loan would cease to exist in 4 days time.

Whoever Kimberly Fuel is, she needs to pay her student loans or quit giving my cell phone number out as her own!  These kooks trying to collect for Sallie Mae, they call every dam day and I'm tired of it.  Often they hang up without leaving a voice mail, but I still have to deal with seeing this 570-991-4403 number on my screen too often!  The g.d. government needs to do something about these collectors who exceed their boundaries, this is too much!

Left voicemail twice today looking for different people, claimed that my number was listed in their records.
Filed complaint with Do Not Call Registry. Don't answer numbers that you don't know, let them go to voice mai
and file complaints, it's the only way to get these cockroaches out of their little scam holes!!!

I received a called from Sallie Mae as it is displayed on caller ID.  The person that they are asking for I do not know.  They left a different call back number and stated that benefits will expire tonight at 9:00pm.  According to the caller the loan has been delinquent for a year. I think benefits have expired.

received a message from my co-worker who left company 7 years ago; she said a guy who barely spoke English left a message asking for me with a call back # of 570-991-4403. I've never in my life had a loan through Sally Mae or a student load of any kind so concluded it's a scam - guess he doesn't know how to skip-trace either.

Same thing... When I called it back the first thing the automated system asked for was my "9 digit social security number."

Allowed to go to voice mail. Identified self as calling from Sallie Mae and left message for an unknown person.

Call went to vm.  Did not leave message. Called it and it was a busy signal.

I told this jerk yesterday to not call my number ever again and he said he would not.   This is not my concern--- he just has my number.
