This number (571) 335-0884 called and said I owed a debt for a credit card to a company I have never heard of. She said her name was Linda Ross and when I asked the company she refused to tell me and started saying I was fishing and that she was not providing information. She hung up on me stating that I was not getting any information.

Welp, I was the idiot who paid these ppl. Yes they are aggressive jerks but I did pay them in August and my credit report was updated. So I dont think they're scam artists, I just think there approach is def not a good one for a collection agency.

Two seperate calls have been received from this same number. First call was in October 2012 from a Mrs Ford who claimed to be calling from a law firm in California as a debt collector. Threatened garnishing of wages, civil matter or judgement, loss of assetts, litigation. The card in question was not mine nor my husbands. Belonged to someone else with similar name. She wanted 1500 dollar payment within few days or else. The second call received Nov. 9, 2012 indicating a complaint was filed against me, left call back number and no other details other than have my lawyer call her ( Mrs Arlene Carter) and or indicated to disregard call if I had been served with papers. States just complete bottom half of papers and return. Both calls were from same number, different names and different matters. I will report to Attorney General in Texas. This has to stop.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

STATED THAT I OWED A DEBT FOR A CARD THAT I DIDNT HAVE ALONG SHE COULD NOT TELL WHAT THE NAME OF IT WAS. THE LADY'S NAME WAS DONNA SUMMERS AND SHE WOULD NOT TELL ME WHERE SHE WAS CALLING FROM NOR THE ATTORNEY SHE CLAIMED TO WORK FOR. SHE ALSO WOULD NOT GIVE ME HER MAILING ADDRESS WHEN I TOLD HER THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE MY LAWYER CONTACT HER WITH A REGISTERED LETTER. THEN SHE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT SHE WAS NOT GOING TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME! NOT SURE IF ANYONE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT HER...BUT DOES SHE REALLY THINK SOMEONE IS GOING TO PAY SOMETHING BY PHONE WITHOUT ANY PROOF.

Same Donna Summer had threatened me and told me to shut the F up, when I asked for the address of the business. I also spoke with Donna Summers "Supervisor" Madeline Ford and she stated that If I called back to dig for any more information she was going to have me arrested.

This lady Donna Summer called and was asking to pay a old credit card way back in 2000 that if not i will have to go to civil court. she did not say where or what company she was calling from and want a payment with another credit card. Then she says that she will send a warrant out for my arrest. Have i been served with papers (NO). Then she tells me ok i can help you and if you go ahead and make a payment you will not go to court or jail. Mmmmm!  Fishy!
