They call at least 3 times a day - my ans machine picks up but no message

Phishing scam individuals like them should be stopped.  They call all the time and leave no message, really harassing
innocent and busy people!

Thank you so much for taking the time to put in the information on blocking calls on Panasonic cordless phones.  I had just received a set of phones and am notoriously bad about reading instruction manuals and did not know I could block irritating telemarketers, sweepstake callers etc.  I have a few who call daily and this "Art Bergh" is a new addition to the list as of today, so I am thrilled to know I can block the whole bunch.  Thanks again!

This number has called me five times in the last two weeks.   When I returned the call someone said hello, and then switched me to a recording about veterans something or other.  So now I ignore all calls from it.

Annoying calling!

My CallerID says "Bergh Art."  Called 5 times this past week.  Never leaves a message.

Yes,, the feature exists in several landline phones and some landline providers also have that feature.  Time Warner, for example, allows you to block numbers (but I would NEVER recommend them if you have alternatives!).  Many cordless landline phones also have the feature, most notably models from Panasonic and Uniden.  Simply program in the number you want to block and they'll get a busy signal.  You can also save the number from the Caller ID list.  I like Panasonics because their phones can also read the caller's name (or number) as displayed on the CallerID.  No more running to the display.

The trick I use though is a bit more sophisticated.  My phone allows you to play different outgoing messages depending on the CallerID.  If a number repeatedly annoys me, I tell my phone to play a message that I recorded off a Fax machine.  Once telemarketers think that they have a fax line, they stop calling.

My thoughts on unwanted calls. Like too many of you I to get these unwanted calls. I removed my answering machine. Unactivated cell answering. Mine got serious after reg with do not call list.
Now !! I do not answer any calls I do not recognise. Answer machine answers, they know its a good number. If you push 3 or ??? trying to get off their list they know your listening to their message. FCC is not even trying to stop these b*****ds. If stopped, people out of a job. We don`t care, but you know who does.

Calls several times a week;  scam

Let the answering machine catch one call ... if nothing or spam then I hit accept on my fax machine and let my machine scream at their machine for a full 3 minutes or until they disconnection... quickly gets updated as a machine phone line and removed from the call list.

Nothing but heard call center chatter in background

Wife answered with 'hello', so it went into a recorded message, about fund raising for veterans, and it hung up when she tried to ask a question.

I no longer answer the phone unless the caller speaks; consequently, over 90% of my calls are never answered, since they are fundraisers or scammers.

My cell phone has an app called Call Blocker. Does something like this exist for land lines? I am seriously considering canceling my landline (but retaining my internet line) unless something is available.

"American Veterans Support Foundation." Clearly a scam, or they wouldn't have to resort to illegal methods to raise money. I'm guessing there's nothing anybody can do unless the government actually starts ENFORCING the Do Not Call list.

I received 6 calls in a row from this number, just tonight.  They started calling last week so I blocked them and it doesn't ring through but shows on call log.  Very irritating,...

Harassment

the second time this number called.  I answered with Hello.  silence and a click, more silence.   Dont know who it was or what they want.

Must have been my turn today.  MOST legitimate telemarketers abide the Do-Not-Call list.  So, if you are getting a call it's pretty likely it's political, not-for-profit, someone you have a business relationship with or a scam.  My money is on the scam.  Best to let your answering machine pick it up.  You might want to answer with a message similar to ....."Hello, you have reached the answering machine at XXX-XXX-XXXX.  We are either unavailable at this time or do not recognize your name or number.  Please leave a brief message which includes your name, number and business or organization you represent if applicable.  Otherwise hang up.  Thank you!"

If there not on the phone, its in the mail box, turn on tv and sit thru 10 to 12 commercials per segment before returning to the show, flip on computer and it freezes the browser because to many ads. I agree with benie at top " whats wrong here"
being constanly pestered. you can change it, if you got 2000, 3000 people to turn in cell phones, cancel cable, run Linux for operating system, something will give. there are certain agencies suppose to be pertecting the consumer from junk like this.

Phone rang on a Saturday, but left no mssg when my machine answered.
Caller ID said VIENNA VA.

Called left no message. We didn't return call when we got home. Figured if no message was left call wasn't important to start with.

I've been getting calls too, I have digital phone so I can block it..
