Offer for an extended warranty on our car. They called our unpublished number. It was obviously an auto-dialer programmed for every phone number in our area. Since it produces a phone number, it bypassing blocking blocked numbers. Not sure why some people put so much effort into calling someone who doesn't want these calls.

Missed a call from this number. Looks like they'll be calling back so I've blocked this number.

I get messages virtually everyday from this number wanting to sell me an extended warranty on a ten year old truck. I've answered it and asked to be removed from the call list to no avail. What's next, I guess contacting an attorney, I've logged all the calls for weeks and saved the voice mails to disc.

Oh and I called the number back, no on my landline but on my skype phone (no number is associated with that account yet) and I guess because the number assigned to me on skype is unavailable I was prompted by their automated systems to enter a valid number to be removed from their list. Since I don't have a number I counldn't do anything.

Woman answered. So I decided to try to play a little game with them and stated I have an 04 [honda] Accord. The woman then states they are the "underwriter company for honda and we extend their warranties for them". Mind you she never revealed their official name. When I press for more information on the outfit like who would I be making to she said their name is "The warranty service center for honda". After that she hung up and a message stated my phone number would be removed. Little did she know I recorded at least part of our conservation on my digital recorder. I will be forwarding a complaint to my local attorney general and the FTC.

These people are driving me nuts. The have been calling for months. I
pressed 2 to be removed from their list but it doesn't work. They say my
car warranty is up. I don't have a one through them. They just called again
for about the 20th time. This is a crime.

I got a voice mail from this number on my work phone over the weekend. It was an automated message asking about my car's warranty, as others have said. When I bought my car it was already out of warranty, and my work phone number is not associated with any vehicle anywhere. This is very likely some kind of attempt at identity theft.
Several of my co-workers have received similar messages. All of the phone numbers at the organization where I work start with the same four digits, so it is likely that this thing is just going through phone numbers sequentially.
I would strongly advise against anyone calling these people back or giving them any information at all. There is no legitimate reason why a random company would call you about your car's warranty.

Zeuceone 2008-12-19 23:31:39 Unknown
call me about insurance. wait till its done and press 2
Salaminizer 2008-12-19 22:36:23 Unknown
sorry Derek, but they probably hung up promptly because they got the information they wanted out of you. Makes and models of previously owned vehicles are pieces of info that credit agencies use to verify identity. My guess is this is one arm of an identity theft ring, and this is how they phish for more info on people for whom they already have names, numbers, addresses, etc. I get these calls at work, on my cell, and just now on my NEW land line...going to try the do not call list thing now! I want to call back and mess with whoever is on the other end, but am afraid to let them know I'm alive.
DEREK 2008-12-19 20:08:15 Unknown
so after many attempts to be removed from the list (probably about 20 or so) i opted to speak to a representative. they asked for the make and model of my vehicle, i replied its a 1990 toyota pickup and i would like to make sure the warranty doesnt expire on it. they promptly hung up on me...... so i guess they dont want to remove me from the list or sell me a warranty on my 20 year old truck! lol

xavier 2008-12-18 14:59:37 Unknown
they keep calling me, so i filed a complaint with the national do not call registry
irritated2 2008-12-13 20:49:09 Unknown
Correction on the entry above... it may say remove because when I called it and pressed 1 it says my number has been removed. But, removed from WHAT?
irritated2 2008-12-13 20:44:46 Unknown
You call back and it is a recording saying "you are calling from (your number here), if this is a number you wish to move press one, if you wish to enter another number press 2" over and over again.
Jo 2008-12-10 03:24:56 Unknown
I received one of the calls starting with the automated info about my warranty that is about ready to expire (too bad my car is 12 years old and way beyond ANY warranty!) I pressed 1 to speak to someone and when I got the girl and told her I thought they had the wrong house she hung up on me. Nice. I tried calling back and got the muffled recording. It repeated my phone number but that's all I could make out - it was super quiet and hard to understand. I'm so tired of scammers.
irritated 2008-12-10 00:08:30 Unknown
this isn't a debt collector. thanks for tricking me into calling them back, now they know i'm a live line. awesome.
