I got suspicious when they asked me if I knew my doctors identification number (or something  like that.)
Fortunately I didn't have it (whatever kind of number that was). I stopped the conversation at that point and said I'd have to speak with someone in my doctor's office before I would continue the call. At that point the
person I was talking with gave me that 888 number. I went online and found a company called US Health Care Supply. It looked OK except that their 800 number wasn't the one the caller gave me.
I also gave a call to my doctor's office and talked with the receptionist. She said it sounded like a scam because the request for the back brace would have to originate from my doctor directly.

I never answer calls if I don't recognize the number - too many shysters calling with temporary 'phony' phone numbers.   They change their number more often then we change our underwear so as not to be 'tracked' by the FCC.

A note on Unwanted Calls.  Our world is changing. Sadly - The 'Do Not Call' list only works with Legitimate Telemarketers but unfortunately does not apply to: Surveys, Charities and of course, Criminals don't follow any laws. These Criminals have various kinds of ploys.  Some hide behind Surveys and Charities and of course the two big ones are Phony Debt Collectors and Low Interest offers. The only way to avoid these calls is DO NOT EVER RESPOND because if you do respond you will not only continue to be harassed by the same caller but your number will be sold to other 'Harassers' now that they know you are a live Human Being with a real phone number.  Also the Criminals/Shysters only use a number for a short period and then change it to avoid being caught.  Another sad note is that even if you do respond to a legitimate Survey or Charity - you will be placed on a 'Sucker List' and your number will be passed To & Fro for all to exploit you, including the criminals.  I also never respond to any political calls anymore, because I don't want to give any politician the knowledge of my concerns just so He/She can LIE TO ME in the future by telling me 'What I want to hear', because - Honest Politicians already 'know' the Needs and Concerns of The People that He/She is representing.  Again, our world has changed and responding to any of these callers only places us at risk for 'Who knows what?" At this time in history I have not discovered a way to 'AVOID' ALL HARASSMENT and so far the only way to avoid ongoing harassment is -Caller ID- and/or a phone that can 'Block' callers who will not stop.  Some of these phones also have a Programming Feature that will BLOCK Calls which do not have a number like 'Out Of Area' or 'Private Caller" and is well worth the Investment.  We can no longer 'Trust' ANYONE "Who we don't know' that is calling us.

My mother recently received a call from US Health Supply Care,571-963-3213 and they gave this number to call back with any questions 888-244-0098.  They asked if she had diabetes or back problems.  She confirmed she has had back problems for some time.  They offered to send her a cushion, charged to Medicare, at no cost to her.  All she had to provide was her Medicare ID number, of which she did.  After discussing this with me I found this information on line and quickly set out to get her signed up for Life Lock.  This is disgraceful that these people prey on the elderly.  Not only that, she had just buried her husband of 58 years.  I will be calling our local TV stations to have them alert the seniors in our surrounding areas.   Thank you for posting so someone else can be aware of the scam going on.  Oh, mom  tried to call this number back and of course was on hold for some time before hanging up.

I consistently get a call daily from this number, yet when you call them back, it's an invalid number.

Telemarketer
Received call from  571-963-3211.
Display was Virginia.
The recorded message stated "do you have diabetes or have back pain?"
If yes stay on the line.
If you disire to be removed from the call list press 2.
I pressed 2 and a person answered.
I asked who he was and he hung up.

Am not able to determine anything else.

When you make a call, please leave a message. It's doesn't sound as if it is important or is it a scam?

They sound like bad news. I would report them to Medicare and file a complaint online withe the FCC.

It's NOT Medicare, but a scam.  Please go to LifeLock and get yourself protected (outside of being a satisfied customer, I'm not affiliated with the company).  My husband and I were targeted by several of these scammers, and my number was fine, but his was compromised.  It's taken months to get back to feeling safe, and I'm still not sure we won't have issues in the future.  Your Medicare number is your social security number, and with that, there's no telling what they can get into.  Thankfully, our nephew helped us get protection, and although we still aren't sure things will be safe, at least going forward, we'll always know if someone tries to use the information that got out there.  We've had three alerts in the past few years, and we're thankful that these crooks could not get anywhere with our information, but I'm also pretty sure the crooks are working night and day to find another way around all the precautions we've taken.

The long and short would be NEVER pick up the phone unless you know who is on the other end.  To your friends and family that have blocked their ID numbers on the phone so that they show up as "Unknown Caller" or "Private Number", too bad for them.  The answering machine gets all of that nonsense, and if it is someone we know, we'll call back.
